I had cataracts removed from both eyes, replaced by premium lenses by Mr Balaggan and his team at Spire Little Aston. I am so pleased with the whole experience and with the amazing results. It feels miraculous to have gone from being extremely myopic and long sighted to having perfect 20/20 vision and a world of brightened new colours. Obviously I have Mr Balaggan to thank for this and I am extremely grateful. The surgery was straightforward and I was in and out on the same day. The hospital looked after me very well indeed, and followed up with phone calls to make sure I was OK at home afterwards.

I suffered a detached retina in December 2025 which was repaired by Mr Balaggans' team at New Cross.
I developed a cataract as a result and was waiting for an appointment for surgery. I have a particular need for close focus due to hobbies and close work but the lenses available on the NHS would not give me the range I require. I decided to seek advice from Mr Balaggan privately and was assured he could supply an IOL which would give me the focal range I require.
Within two weeks I have had an advanced IOL fitted and have perfect close vision without glasses and better than 20/20 corrected for distance with my current spectacles.

I have had surgery performed by Mr Balaggan on both my eyes over the last four weeks to deal with early cataracts and troublesome severe astigmatism. The surgery experience was excellent. Most importantly the outcome for me has been fantastic. I can certainly see better than I ever remember and that includes the many years when I wore glasses or contact lenses. No need for any of that now. A life changing experience for me that I wish I had done many years ago.

I have, over the last 8 weeks, had surgery for cataracts in both eyes. The standard of care and expertise shown by the ophthalmologist, Mr Kam Ballagan, has been exemplary. I was slightly nervous about surgery as I also have a corneal condition which can become worse in some cases after cataract surgery. However, due to the extra care and precautions taken, no further damage occurred. I was informed at all stages what my options were, and what risks were involved, and was contacted by his secretary shortly after each procedure to ensure I was happy with my progress. I cannot speak highly enough about my experience and would have no hesitation in recommending him to others.

First Class service, with results beyond any expectations. I cannot praise, thank or recommend Mr Balaggan enough. The service, care and individual attention I experienced was second to none. From initial consultation, two surgeries and follow ups, including communication from his wonderful secretary have been first class. With a complex astigmatism to correct, the results have been way beyond any expectation I had, and I can now see, without lens or glasses for the first time in my life -thanks to the expertise of Mrs Balaggan.

Eye sight is a precious thing so a diagnosis that puts this at risk is a scary place. However, although surgery might not be a first choice, if there was a choice, Kam Baggalan is a certainty. A highly skilled professional who is also calm and empathetic. I’ve now got a fabulous result with sight better than it has ever been.

Mr Ballaggan was a very friendly and experienced surgeon and I had complete confidence in him. I had two procedures which went very well with no problems.I was also pleased with Nuffield hospital and the other staff who I came into contact with.

I was referred to Mr Balaggan in December 2025 with Epiretinal membrane. He performed vitrectomy surgery in early 2026 and in July 2026 he replaced the lenses in both of my eyes. The result has exceeded my expectations and restored my sight where I no longer need glasses. Mr Balaggan is a very talented and personable surgeon. His charming demeanour, experience, and kindness completely alleviated the extreme anxiety I had in having these surgeries and allowed me to breeze through all three procedures. Mr Ballagan s expertise is second to none . Had double viterectomy for floaters several months apart . Both went fantastically. No pain , just slight discomfort . For the first time in six years I can see clearly without massive distractions. He really has changed my life and I can't thank him enough .He is kind and talks through the procedure and puts any worries to rest. Mr Balaggan was recommended to me after a visit to an optician who confirmed I had cataracts in both eyes. Unaccustomed to hospital visits I was extremely nervous and apprehensive.
