The engineer was very polite
The engineer was very polite, efficient and arrived on time. The only negative was the fact that the installation charge was an extra £50 apparently because of my location. This seems rather unfair and unusual in my experience. If an installation charge is published then that would be the price.

Insinkerators are unrepairable
I'm now on my third Insinkerator in 17 years. Models 46 & 56 packed up with either broken or damaged cutter blades, now I have model S460, but for how long? Insinkerator inform me that they don't supply spares only new units. I think this is unreasonable and poor practice selling products which have to be thrown away when they break. These units are straightforward to dismantle in around 30mins. I am unimpressed.

We sincerely appreciate your 17 years of loyalty. We always aim to build appliances with a level of longevity that stands the test of time, but we completely understand that when a unit does eventually reach the end of its lifespan, having to replace it rather than fix it can feel counterintuitive and frustrating.
To provide some context on our policy, domestic waste disposal units do not fall under the UK Ecodesign Regulations (2021) or the EU Ecodesign Directive (2024/1799). Because of this, manufacturers are not legally required to provide separate spare parts or repair instructions.
More importantly, this approach is strictly in place for safety reasons. Because these units combine high-speed grinding mechanisms with a water-integrated motor housing, internal repairs are highly complex. Even a minor misalignment during reassembly can compromise the watertight seal, risking product safety, hygiene, and mechanical performance.
We want to ensure you are fully supported moving forward. Please call our customer service answer line on 0800 389 3715 to provide your contact details so we can keep them on record for any future communication. We also highly recommend registering your new S460 unit to ensure you take full advantage of its extended warranty.
