I was so excited about Hylo. Loved the ethos and aesthetic of the trainers. I don’t run but I have flat feet and try to get comfy but stylish shoes for walking.

I bought my first pair of Hylos on 27 May 2021. As soon as they arrived, I loved the way they looked—even better than I expected. So, I ordered two more! It’s hard to find comfy, modern-looking shoes that fit size 12 flat feet.

What I didn’t know was that those first pair of shoes would start ripping in various locations within about 3 months. Just from walking!

Less than a year in, I had to throw the first pair (black) away. I thought maybe it was a fluke. So, I just started using the khaki Hylos as my walking shoes (and, of course, I stopped buying more Hylo). Within weeks, that one ripped too. I live in Central London… I’m not taking these shoes through hellish terrain or anything. Today, I’m throwing away the khakis too, just over a year after I got them (but they got multiple tears long before now).

I just bought some ASICS yesterday after doing some research online… they arrived today, and it’s so obvious the difference in quality… but it costs about the same as Hylo! I can’t keep paying over £100 for trainers that fall apart in 3 months. That is not sustainable.

I have one last pair of Hylos remaining (sand). They look so good but I know even moderate use will cause them to rip too. I’ve resigned myself to the fact that I can only wear them on date nights, when I take an Uber to and from the restaurant. And, fingers crossed, they won’t fall apart just from making contact with the floor.

I contacted the customer service as my shoes were getting damaged a lot quicker than expected. They replied quickly and effectively proposing a replacement and chasing me to ensure I was fully satisfied. Highly recommend the brand, the purpose and the service.

Had a wonderful experience with Jake from the Hylo team. Had a problem with my existing running trainers from Hylo and got a very speedy reply and had a new pair of trainers sent to me. The trainers themselves are stylish and comfty! I’m so pleased - thanks Hylo

My wife and I both have a pair and are so impressed with both the look and comfort. The colours look great and they are so light and comfortable! We also love the thoughtfulness the brand have put into sustainability and making sure the shoes are good for the planet as well as being stylish.

Quite a few people have commented on how much they love our shoes and have gone on to buy a pair.

I went to order trainers in may. I had an issue with the order (promo code), so I had to order again. I did not notice at time that selected size had reset.
Once paid, I noticed the incorrect size. I immediately went to cancel the order, but had no option do to so. Contacted them on Facebook and by mail, they answered the next day, saying that it shipped just some hours before they saw my message. They have no way to cancel an order on his way either.

I asked for refund of delivery fees, as per french law, since they were not displayed as to be refunded in the website return request. They told me it would be done. I also asked for refund of return fees, since the mistake originally happened due to a bug on their website. They didn't care.

Now, return package is stuck since 1 month, and they ain't answering mails.

Edit: They saw this review, and did proceed to refund the order price (99.70€). I am still waiting for the 12€ return fees.

I bought a pair of the original trainers over a year ago and was really happy with them. I'm not a regular runner so had probably on worn them a handful of times and found that one day the fabric tore away from the sole all along the inner arch. I definitely hadn't worn them enough for this kind of damage, so contacted the customer support team to see if they could help. I sent them the original order details and photos of the damage and quickly received a reply from Jake. He explained it was a fault in their first design and something they had improved on in the new model, which he offered to send me for free as a replacement for the damaged pair. I was truly blown away! No difficult questions or fuss, they owned up to the fault and replaced them with a new pair, in the new moss colourway, which arrived super quickly. Really happy with the new trainers and the fantastic customer support - how things should be done! Also very happy that I can send the old pair to be recycled, as sustainability is important to me and ultimately why I invested in a pair of Hylo trainers in the first place.

Absolutely love these shoes!! They are so comfy, look great and arrived quickly! Bravo Hylo!

Absolutely terrible service. The trainers are lovely to look at but weren't quite right for me so I returned them. No refund received, I've emailed 4 times and used the contact form and have been totally ignored, and there's no number to call. The trainers are pricey so to not have the refund and no one returning any emails is very upsetting.

UPDATE: Jake from Hylo saw the above and has contacted me and been incredibly helpful so a big thank you to him.

This will be my third pair in one year because of some faulty that keep on appearing after a few months, but I’m not put off by it because every time I reach out the customer service they respond within a day and send me free replacement! No other shoe company will do that. And I love the shoes, they’re comfortable, light, and look nice. I give 5stars to Hylo

Someone give the support team a medal, promotion or something! This is how you do proper customer service.

I reached out as the original shoes i had experienced some wear and tear and they offered me replacement and within 2 days they arrived - and in the nice white sand colour. The version 2 shoes are so comfortable and secure. Amazing!

Really impressed with how they keep improving the product. Each version has got better and better. Now they are incredibly durable and comfortable.

Customer service is brilliant too.

I absolutely loved wearing these, but holes have appeared, with the sock upper detaching from the sole only 8 months into wearing. Not very sustainable or cost-effective for the buyer. I doubt I'll be buying another pair now even with the credit involved in recycling.

Update Aug 2022: Got in touch with customer services, who offered me a new pair of their new and improved model. Quite happy with these, we'll have to see how they do!

Update Aug 2023: This improved model has also been showing wear and tear since a few months ago. I'm not convinced that the longevity/sustainability is any better to be honest. Looking elsewhere in future.

Bought a pair a few weeks ago and haven't even looked at another running or gym shoe since - increasingly frequently even wearing them to work, travel, leisure and anything in-between - because they're just that d*mn comfortable and light!
Can't recommend them any more strongly for the everyday, hard sessions at the gym and even long tempo runs!

I bought a pair of trainers mostly for everyday use because I loved the look and the eco-friendly approach Hylo had taken. After about 9 months of regular use I took them on a light hike and was sad that split the fabric away from the heel of one of the shoes. I wrote to Hylo to ask how to recycle them and they immediately offered to send a replacement pair from one of their new, improved designs. I'd already been receiving loads of compliments from friends when wearing the shoes so I'm excited to receive the new pair and am already considering buying a pair in another colour in future.

I absolutely LOVE these shoes and Hylo's mission, and recently was blown away by their customer service. After about 6 months of regular daily use, they became uncomfortable to wear. I reached out to Hylo to ask for a return label to recycle the shoes, and without any information of my original order, Hylo saw that I only had the shoes for about 6 months, and said that they shouldn't be ready to recycle so soon and asked for pictures to see what was wrong with the shoes. They determined that the heel counter broke, and offered to send me a brand new pair of shoes for free. They were so communicative and helpful and I was blown away that they would replace the pair. I was ready to recycle the old pair and move on. They're the first shoe of their kind and I'm happy to continue to wear and support them as they create an amazing, fully recyclable shoe.

Ended up buying two!

I don't run in these but wear them as my day to day trainers and in the gym. Liked my first pair (white) so much I ended up buying a second in black! I did have an issue with my first pair coming apart at the heel but customer support were quick to send out a redesigned replacement with a much sturdier heel so confident it won't happen again.

I love my Hylo shoes and wear them both for running and fashion. They are simple in design, attractive, comfortable and good for the planet! I was impressed by the level of customer service and the values of the company and would definitely rate them highly. I now have two pairs!

UPDATE - below is my initial review. Hylo saw it and sent me a brand new pair of shoes. Still unsure of the fit and quality because I’m yet to test them out properly but the customer service was impressive and swift.

Not very comfortable, make my feet roll in. Can feel the edges of the inner soles under my soles. Also have worn only 10-12 times and they have a big hole in the upper already. About an inch or so long. So disappointing.

One of the most versatile trainers I've owned! I love them for travelling as they are so lightweight and easily packable but they are also great for casual city runs. They are well breathable so amazing for spring and summer!
