Coming here to read the reviews afterwards adds salt to injury. Paid for a booking 30th September 2025, got to the hotel (De Franklin Apartments Abuja) today 2nd October 2025 and I did not like the room I was shown, I asked for another and I was told no other option.
I sent a message to HotelMoney to ask for workaround, after taking a while ~30mins I got the same no other option response. Then I asked for refund. I was told no refund as the amount paid would be counted as a no show. I told them "this is fraudulent" as I showed up. Had to book another hotel.
Lack of Professionalism
I made the mistake of booking with these guys before reading reviews. Immediately I saw the review online, I sent them a text that they should confirm with the hotel ahead, before my arrival.
Well, I got to the hotel and I stood outside for 30 minutes because they didn't pay to the hotel directly, but the managing director, who in turn didn't pass any information to the front desk.
I was told to make an additional payment of 4,000 Naira because HotelMoney already subracted this from my booking fee. Which means, they have no official relationship with the hotels on their website. They take payment from unsuspecting clients, take off their own charges, and send part-payment to the hotel. I also paid an extra 8,000 for damages, which wasn't stated at the point of booking, although it was refunded when I checked out.
Altogether, they offer a shambolic service. Avoid them at all cost.
Terrifying Room Mix-Up at Jukky Hotel Abuja – No Response to Complaint from Hotel Money
I booked Jukky Hotel Abuja for 14 September on behalf of my Mum (ref 7F03) at a prepaid rate of ₦75,000. Arriving before 08:00, my mother collected her key and left her luggage in the room while she went to a salon. On her return around 11:00, two strangers came knocking in the room and the front-desk staff told her her room had been reissued. With her belongings inside, she felt unsafe and abandoned the stay, incurring extra travel costs.
We emailed our complaint (including refund request and compensation for distress) on 14th of September to Hotel Money but have had no acknowledgment. This level of mismanagement and silence is unacceptable. international travellers deserve a reliable allocation and a responsive complaints process. I hope they resolve this promptly, but until then I can’t recommend Jukky Hotel Abuja or Hotel Money.

Fake Listings
This company fraudulently hosted a hotel in Abuja with no electricity and refused to refund.
For three weeks and counting, they have been promising that the refund is coming but it is obviously a lie.
I have reported them to EFCC.

Terrible experience! If there was a way to give them zero stars, I’d do that straight away.
First, the hotel say I haven’t booked a room even though I had paid via Hotel Money. I reached out to Hotel Money and they couldn’t help either, telling me the hotel are being difficult. They would process a refund to me. At this point, they didn’t give me a timeline. Let me add that this is my second terrible experience with hotel money because I had similar issues with a booking in April 2022 where the hotel kept me waiting in the lobby for 3 hours even though I had made payment to Hotel Money
After a 2-hour wait with my mum, I had to pay for another booking in person to the hotel. I then reached out to Hotel Money, telling them they should advise when they would complete the refund. Believe it or not, these people responded to say they would refund within 3 - 15 days! Like 3 - 15 days fr!
Alignment with hotels is terrible. Why are you being listed as a payment gateway in a hotel site that doesn’t accept payment to you as a valid booking for a room? Even if one overlooks that, why are you not able to engage the hotel to resolve the issue? Why is your refund taking such an incredibly long time? To worsen it, they no longer respond to my emails and I am still yet to get my refund.

Update as at 11 September
Paystack emailed me to say refund will be processed within 7 - 9 business days meaning the 3 - 15 days was a farce because it now means the minimum refund days is 10 business days. Note that Hotel Money never even indicated it was 3 - 15 working days in the first place.
HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE! INCOMPETENT & RUDE AGENTS
I had a terrible experience using this agency! The worst experience ever! And this would be the last time I would ever use them! It took hours for the hotel to find my reservation that I made and paid for several days before! After just waiting around the hotel for 2 hours Eventually found the reservation, I didn’t like it and wanted to upgrade the room, this took an additional 2 hours! By this time it was midnight! 1 day was already off the reservation! I’d had a 23 hour flight time and just wanted my bed, instead I was outside hanging around an hotel because of these guy’s incompetency! Finally I lost my cool and was expressing my frustration to an agent and the silly lady asked me to calm down! Really? Is that how you guys taught them to deescalate a situation with your customers? I had a long ass flight time and still came to hang around an hotel for four hours! Missing out on an entire day of my reservation and all she could tell me was calm down calm down. And she kept repeating that.
Horrible experience! Horrible service! First and last time! Never using them again! DO NOT RECOMMEND!

I made a booking on the 13th of December for two nights ( #120K) and they immediately notified me that the room was not available after I made payment. I asked for a refund, but I am yet to get my refund and it past a week now, they have not replied to messages and this is BAD.

I am trying to cancel a reservation I booked through Hotel Money. However, I do not see a contact number or email on their website, which seems quite sketchy. Does anyone know a phone number I can call?

Imagine not having any valid explanation for refusal to refund. Just wait for bank to block your account first .
