Although Found Capital ultimately didn’t invest, I really appreciated the time and effort Lawrence put into the process!
He was incredibly thorough, gave genuinely useful and constructive feedback and took the time to properly understand both the business and the opportunity. What stood out most was how personable and straightforward he was throughout and the conversations always felt open, honest and valuable.
Fundraising can often feel quite transactional, so it was refreshing to deal with someone who was generous with their time and feedback even when the outcome wasn’t an investment!

Applied to Found Capital for our pre-seed in August. They passed, which is what most people do at this stage. The difference is I got a proper written note with it. What they found convincing, what they didn't, and an actual number for when it's worth coming back to them. Not "keep us posted", a bar I can measure myself against.

I've had passes that were one line and passes that never came at all, so this stood out. Laurance also replied when I wrote back, and then replied again. For a firm looking at a couple of hundred startups a month that's a lot of effort spent on people they're not investing in.

If you're a founder and you're on the fence about applying, apply. Even a no from these guys is useful.
