Dishonest denial of claim
UPDATE January 2025
I sued them in small claims court. They capitulated and paid my claim in full- evidence of their dishonest denial of my claim.
I had home emergency cover. They sent a plumber to investigate a leak who was negligent - leading to flooding. Despite 2 separate plumbers reporting the negligence DAS have refused to pay my claim. They say their plumber was a professional so could not have done anything wrong!!!

Found 4 times in my favour for complaints on delays and then used the fact my agent had got the deposit returned against the rent arears ( as a clerical error because there was also extensive damage ) as a reason to deduct the deposit and keep from the rent cover....Even though there was extensive proof of all the damage costs - REALY please do not use this company which is a re insurer from Simply Business

Minus 5 star for DAS Group
If I could give DAS legal insurer minus 5 star, I would.
Unlike other legal insurer, DAS doesn't run the claims for the best interests of their policyholders.
DAS wants its panel solicitor, in particular its subsidiary DAS Law which charges excessively. The retainer is labelled 'no win, no fee', but in fact DAS Law gets paid no matter what. DAS Law is a bunch of lousy administrators getting paid £220/hour plus VAT. DAS group is a racket.
Further, DAS doesn't pay out! DAS doesn't allow a sensible settlement against policyholders' instruction. For their dubious practice, DAS has only one mission that is to profiteer at the huge detriment of the policyholders.
DAS policy is worse than nothing!

LANDLORDS DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY
I bought Landlord Insurance with Rent Guarantee through DirectLine thinking that I had gold star insurance. Unfortunately not as both legal assistance and rent guarantee are provided by DAS UK Group, even though I had to claim through DirectLine. The claims process is cumbersome requiring a lot of documentation, subsequent document requests by paralegals were made difficult as DAS email servers reject multiple large documents. You will be asked over a course of weeks of inaction for more and more documentation. Not to assist your case, but for them to scrutinise you for mistakes. If they don't feel you have a 51% chance of success you're on your own. I had to chase over and over for 2 months for a response, and made 2 complaints via DirectLine in order to get a section 8 notice sent out. This can be done in 1 hour, but oh no DAS have to complete their reviews. In the end they offered me compensation of £75, which is an insult as I have lost 2 months rent waiting for them to act. The rent guarantee team now refuse to pay out for 4 months lost rent because they claim that a payment was missed by the tenant before I took out their insurance. I have evidence to prove it was planned because the tenant wanted to move the rent date. However 'they' ('name redacted at the request of DAS' Customer Relations Executive) was not interested in requesting my evidence and out rightly refused to pay. Any excuse to wriggle out of it. Their advice was if you're not happy then go to the ombudsmen! So I will. Unscrupulous company, do not go anywhere near them. As a landlord you are undoubtedly going to make a mistake somewhere in your documentation due to the complexity of the law and bias towards tenants. I allege that this company are banking on that fact and profiteering from your misfortune. Update 10/09/2024 - DAS complained to TrustPilot about my review naming culprits in their organisation. Not to contact me to resolve my complaint. This tells you everything about their priorities. Update 23/09/2024 - DAS revisited my claim on the 10th Sept and believed they were unfair in their original judgement and agreed to honour the rent guarantee claim, plus increased compensation to £150. Payment takes 7-10 days, however had to chase on the 18th which prompted them to request my bank details for the 2nd time. Now waiting another 7-10 days. So far I have not received any rent guarantee money. Update 25/09/2024 - Rent guarantee money received.

Unacceptable Delays with DAS UK Group
I am extremely disappointed with the slow response times from DAS UK Group regarding a legal claim through my home insurance. Despite strong evidence supporting my case, there has been a significant delay in confirming whether they will proceed with my claim. This has put me in a difficult position as a resolution could be offered at any time, potentially invalidating my claim. I would advise against using DAS UK Group for any time-sensitive legal matters due to their lack of urgency.
Good Advice Resolved a Tricky Legal Issue.
I was co-executor of a deceased friend's estate. During the final part of the administration process, after Probate had been obtained, I asked the acting solicitor what the final part of his bill was likely to be. He quoted me a figure but when the final accounts were submitted to me for signing off some weeks later, it was a £1000 more.
I queried this with him and he came up with a nonsensical response. I took this up with the firm's senior partner, he backed his employee's increased figure and refused to reduce the final bill.
Incensed by the solicitor's lack of integrity, I made contact with DAS Law - Legal Advice Department, available free of charge via my Property Insurance Policy.
The associate solicitor at DAS was very helpful spending over half-an-hour on the 'phone discussing the issue. He suggested that I decide on a figure that would be acceptable to me and offer them that, with the alternative being me consulting the Legal Ombudsman.
I offered the senior partner of the law firm just over £500 of the £1000 extra they had asked for and he accepted. Case closed!
Thankyou to my Property Insurers, Hoxton, for this facility, but especially to DAS whose help was invaluable at a critical time. Apologies that it has taken some time to write this review.
EDITED - BEWARE I have a claim that began in January…
EDIT - Originally was a 1 star review but after 7 months DAS agreed to pay me rent guarantee and also agreed to act for me for legal expense insurance. Now after 11 months DAS evicted the tenant and after my original complaint really improved. Kelsey also had the court papers all prepared for the next stage in case the tenant did not actually leave which thankfully he did. It still should not have taken anywhere near 7 months for DAS to agree to do all of this and get to the point where things actually start getting done. But I am grateful that in the end it is all sorted. I did also get an acknowledgement that my claim was mishandled and I received a £150 compensation from DAS. Thank you
I have a claim that began in January and it is now mid July. I have submitted all of the relevant documentation in the early stages of the claim. DAS take about 3 weeks to respond each time. They are now dragging the claim out as long as possible in the hopes that they don't have to send me any rent guarantee payments. They are looking for any tiny thing that I have missed so that they don't have to pay me any money or represent me legally. I clearly have a '51% chance or better' claim but they are just dragging it out as long as possible in order to not fulfil their obligations.
Avoid this company at all costs
Avoid this company at all costs. Claims are 'handled' (for want of a better word) by unqualified Claim Handler's who have no legislative knowledge or experience. Any advice they provided was inevitably incorrect. You would be wise to research legislation online and manage legal claims independently.

Hi, I raised an official complaint with your company Ref: 14820873 on 4th of March and you have not actioned it yet. As per complain your company delayed and avoided your responsibility to pay for lost of rent income for 8 months now, at the same time keeping billing me for your non-existent service - Cover for Loss of Rent Income. I found it shocking , your company is a scam and I urge any Landlord not using you.
