My Countax D50 LN Magnetic clutch burnt out, I think it must have affected the PCB board, I have renewed the clutch & it works again but dealing with the Tech department of the UK is like trying to stack round marbles on top of each other, they simply do not know their product & have been spectacularly unhelpful, think I will try another make of mower next time I change it

My Countax mower is the most unreliable machine I have owned in 50 years, on average it breaks down every couple of months. Some good design ideas but failures are due to poor construction, cost cutting and the use of inferior poor-quality components. The customer service is none existent as is any service information, requests to the help desk and in general are simply ignored and personal contact is impossible. This company does not deserve to be in business, abysmal service and products. Do not touch with a barge pole.

I have owned Countax Ride- ons for over 15years all bought new and my most recent May 2020 [my 4th] a C60h with the cassette system.
The PGC has given me endless problems and in my opinion the engineering of the associated electrics are finicky and rubbish. The older PGC never gave problems but this new one is a constant source of irritation. Additionally the roller now has a shield, over it, which constantly gets blocked and stops the roller from moving.
I have tried on a number of occasions to contact Countax /Ariens to speak to an Engineer but to no avail.
I would have considered myself a good customer but if this way they treat me then beware!!
Finally I would have thought that constructive feed back from a long standing customer would be of use to Countax/Ariens -but alas no.

Can’t get any back up at all with technical problem.
Just left on the end of the phone after they say your call is very important to them but nobody ever answers

I bought a brand new countax C80. The dealer has closed and the warranty expired. The next nearest dealer is nearly 2 hours away. So I’m left to do all the repairs and servicing myself.
The company have done nothing to help. Neither their technical advice dept. nor their spares dept. reply to emails. Serious design flaws mean belts rub and break. A PTO belt broke and tore through the wiring loom before damaging an oil seal on the main shaft. I had to partially rewire then dismantle half the mower to remove and rebuild the engine. I had to source the oil seal myself as Countax ignored my requests for parts, help and advice. Many emails sent only 1 reply.
DO NOT BUY COUNTAX .

I bought a new Countax last year. So far in four months of use we've had the following problems:-
Failed to start
Battery is poor quality, you'll need a set of jump leads.
Failed to cut (The mechanism just cuts out without warning or reason)
Failed to go into gear (No explanation just wouldn't go forwards or backwards)
Failed to collect Grass (Yesterdays little problem)
Elements just drop off without good reason (Obviously associated with grass collection but no reason it should do this)
Wired up incorrectly

Today the supplier collected it. We are not prepared to have it back it is for want of a better word crap!

I would never buy a Countax lawn mower again.

I have had a Countax C60 for a little over four years.

I bought it after the recommendations of both Countax and a local supplier after discussing my needs and expectations of a machine. For example cutting both short and deep grass and with the Scottish climate being able to cut when wet too.

I also needed it to pull a small trailer around the garden which in total covers about 2 acres with about one third under grass - not a lot. The machine is so cumbersome it's almost impossible to remove the grass collection back end to fit a trailer so I don't bother - I had to weld a link on the front bumper instead and push it about.

Each year the general service and repairs cost me over £500. Each year too, the machine has been back in to the dealer for additional repairs and I have had to replace the battery three times. The machine is garaged when not being used.

Where to begin with the problems?
Here are a few.

There are safety cut-outs attached to almost everything you can think of which means that the slightest bump you go over the cutters cease to operate but you don't notice this till you see the grass has not been cut.
The mini dashboard display alerts you to this but is so dim you can't see it in sunlight so it's not really much use.

The machine really doesn't like cutting grass and sweeping it up at the same time. It's like it's too much for it!
So it usually leaves a trail of cut grass lying behind you particularly when the grass is wet. This inevitably doubles the amount of work needed to cut and remove.

The steering is very heavy and not responsive at all.
The ungainly construction of the grass collecting hopper's trailing edge frequently means you catch trees and other items in the garden when moving around them no matter how careful you try to be.
This is yet another reason for the cutter / grass collector to stop operating without you realising it.

To empty the grass hopper when full requires considerable effort unless you get off the machine. This also applies to the lever to raise and lower the height of the grass collection brushes.

All in all a very heavy, clunky and awkward design all round with many sharp edges and protrusions to catch or bump you when getting on and off.

I'm sure when I first got it there was an audible alarm to indicate the grass hopper was full and the fuel level low.
If this was so then they no longer work.

There are numerous other niggles that make the the Countax a trial to use.

I have to say that this machine has been a great disappointment from the first day I got it.
I suspect that it's only capable of cutting lawns that are kept bowling green smooth and short and feel I was misled as to its capabilities especially when I paid £5000 for it.
