Amazing service and great support. Very useful for worldwide texts and having a reliable static number to use long term.

Really good and cost effective way to keep your Aussie number overseas. Calls and sms making banking to back home a breeze. Had some issues with V1 but they offered excellent support and got my issue fixed, V2 is working really well. Recommend.

Good service only had 1 hiccup the whole year and that was I couldn't make a phone call over a certain wi fi server once...the rest of the time it worked great and the staff are very helpful and quick to respond if you've got an issue..It's smooth and a way more stress free and cheaper option than travelling with an Ozzie sim!

Working for Australian companies but living overseas...having 1 Aussie number that makes/receives texts and calls... I was searching for for months and Cooee is the only one that seems to allow both text and calls.
Aside from some initial bugs and connection drop out issues etc, the team are responsive on Whatsapp and always act on any issues you tell them arise. They are constantly updating and fixing the system.

Really...this app is a lifesaver. Couldn't be more happy to have found them...

After initial teething problems and the launch of a new system and app the service works great. As an Aussie expat it’s a great value way of keeping my number, especially to receive bank codes etc via SMS. Calls have been very clear. I recotthe service to all my expat friends

Being overseas for extended periods of time and being able to get SMS messages so I can access accounts and everything is highly critical. What is equally amazing is not being bled out by a vampire like major telecom service whose service model belongs in the dark ages when it comes to roaming.

Bad experience with this company. They took 4 days to activate the line even though I provided my Australian driver license. The calls didn't work for most numbers, only for mobile numbers.

I really wanted to like Cooee and gave them over a month to try and address my issues.

I run an Australian business and wanted to keep my business number active overseas. Oh what a mistake it was to go with Cooee. Every client or prospect that calls, I either have trouble picking up or, more commonly, the call drops out every 10 seconds or so for about 3-5 seconds at a time. I have just enough time to apologise for my "phone troubles" and then I ask if I can call them back on my WhatsApp business number (which is free and works perfectly fine).

I've been back and forth with Cooee's support since 24 March 2025 and I was promised to be prioritised for their app update. At time of writing (30 April), there is still no update and even the person who was primarily providing support simply stopped responding to me.

Really disappointing. As an Australian business myself, I really wanted to support a local upstart, but perhaps it's a bit too early and there's still a lot of technical difficulties they need to work through.

I wrote the above review on 30 April 2025. It is now 10 June 2025 and after an app upgrade, the service seems worse than before. My business number is essentially "disconnected" to callers. The best case scenario is that they manage to ring on the app and then it disconnects after 1-2 seconds before I can even pick up. I've been in constant communication with the developers (using WhatsApp, ironically) who continue to promise fixes that never happen.

After close to 3 months of frustration and working with their team, I have decided to give up on Cooee and go elsewhere.

I really want to like this app as I've been waiting for a long time for something like this. However, overall the app fails me more times than it delivers. Even when I'm in Australia. 90% of the time the calls drop out within the first few seconds, and messages may come through hours or even days later, or not at all. It's also impossible to select a contact from my list to call, most times I have to manually enter the number (I was assured in the beginning this was being worked on but I haven't seen any change so far and it's been approx 7months now). As there's nothing comparable I will continue for a while longer but I really wish they would work on their UX as it is not delivering.

I’m currently living overseas and loving my service with Cooee! A friend from Australia called me last night and mentioned it was the clearest line we’ve had since I moved—easily the best connection we’ve had since I left. Super impressed! And I love that I’ve been able to keep and use my Australian number. I highly recommend this service.

Cooee has been a lifesaver for me! I have used a lot of VoIP phone software over the years and Cooee is by far the most user friendly I have ever come across. You can keep your existing phone number and easily import your contact numbers to start making calls.

Product does what it's meant to do, i give that a 5/5.
The customer service is very lacking, i give that 2/5.
Even allowing for the Christmas break it still took my port about 3 weeks, i think the owners (2?) went on holidays - which is unacceptable. After the port was completed, i had some call issues and a couple of other general questions which i emailed support about. Within 24 hours the issue got resolved but i received no response at all to my support tickets (2). Product is good, but service needs to improve a lot.

I kept getting calls from people in Australia saying that *I* had called *them* when I certainly hadn't - very strange experience to have with this app and I would caution others from using it. Also it is a HK based company fyi...

I have had the Cooee app for 5 months now. During an extended stay in Australia from the Americas, I needed a mobile number for businesses to contact me. I didn't need to buy an extra phone, I just needed an app on my iPhone 12 to receive and make calls to Australian mobiles and land lines without purchasing another phone or signing up with a carrier. Cooee seemed like the perfect answer yet there were a couple of shortcomings which thay have promised to fix in the future 2.0 version. (1) Cooee cannot receive or make calls when your device VPN is on. This is annoying but they are working on it. (2) I feel it's kind of expensive for a VOIP app but they are a start up and I wanted to support them (3) On a brighter side their customer service is good and personal. I recommend Cooee.
PS I can text and make calls to Aust mobile/landline numbers from Mexico and the USA

We ported 4 Australian mobile numbers to Cooee for a 4 month trip. Paired with a data only e sim from Holafly we avoided huge roaming fees and got all the text and calls from various banking apps without having to change anything. Meant we didn’t lose our numbers either.

Seamless to port back once we arrived back in Australia, the customer service was first rate and solved any issues quickly and seamlessly.

We were very impressed!

I love Cooee - as a long-term traveller outside Australia, it solved my main telephony problems. I don't need an Aussie mobile plan I never use, I can keep my Australian mobile number. And I can get authentication messages from Australian institutions. And all for a great price. My wife is going to sign up too...

A life changing app that resolves the issue of only being able to receive 2FA SMS exclusively to Australian phone numbers.

Genuinely impressed

Received my 2FA SMS in 20 countries while on a gap year seriously helpful when you are travelling.

I had a few questions and they were all promptly answered by the company.
Downloading the app was simple and have tested the the app to receive local sms and phone calls and worked great.

I’m looking forward and confident in using this when I travel overseas for work next month.

Pricing was attractive and prices was simple.
