Really surprised with all the negative reviews. I had a great experience. Website is easy to use. Easily found the product I needed at a fantastic price. Goods arrived on date stated. The delivery driver was amazing and so helpful

Item was a great price and arrived when promised. Communication with the company was very quick and efficient. Overall, I've had an excellent experience dealing with this company. I'm a very happy customer and wouldn't hesitate to recommend them.

My son recently purchased an 8' by 4' sheet of 6.5mm birch ply from Buildersmerchant. This was delivered to me at my home, where the work was to be done.

Too often I've purchased sheet material that is poor quality, left out in the rain at some point, and delivered with no care or protection.

Not the case with this order from buildersmerchant.

1. From the outside working in, the package was completely wrapped in corrugated cardboard. The ends of the board were wrapped in bubble wrap, with cling film around the whole board. The corners were protected with plastic corner pieces. And most amazingly, a full sized backing piece of circa 4mm "cheap" plywood was used to provide additional protection and stiffness.

2. The board itself was close to A+A, that is I struggled to find the poorer quality face. Nor did I spot any "batwings" that are used to replace damaged veneer.

So why 4 stars not 5? I think this could be a 5 star review, but I just don't trust 5 (or 1) star reviews.

Order placed over a month ago. Advertised as next day delivery but still waiting. Have emailed 10 times wanting either the product or a refund and have received neither

DO NOT USE. Have ordered some feather-edge boards. DX appear to have lost them - so fair enough, to directly BMs fault, but they appear to be doing absolutely nothing to rectify this. You cannot speak to them on the phone, and the scant email responses I have had have been utterly unhelpful.

I was concerned after reading some of the critical reviews here and even gave them a call to discuss the logistics after seeing people had experienced damage in transit etc.

I thought I would share my experience rather than being part of the silent majority, as all I can say is I had no issues whatsoever.

They answered the phone quickly when I contacted them, put my mind at rest about a few things and the goods arrived quickly, well packaged and in perfect condition.

I ordered some wooden wall panels for a living room wall and they look great.

Still haven't received my order placed on 14th March - meant to be 2-3 days delivery! No communication, no replies to several emails. DO NOT BUY FROM THIS WEBSITE

Delivery was slow due to a stock issue but when they did arrive the products were all good. I dealt with customer services a few times and always spoke to Victoria who was helpful and polite so top marks for her. Apart from the delay in shipping a decent company to deal with IMHO

The only good thing about my order was that items were delivered very quickly HOWEVER, the quality of the goods ( feather edge fencing boards ) was absolutely appalling. The boards were delivered in packs of 5, in every case ( except one ) the outer boards were of barely acceptable quality but the inside ones were shocking and were either not decent enough to use on the project or damaged preventing use at all. This had clearly been done deliberately to make the “first impression” favourable.

I had to redesign the project to use different boards that I had delivered from a local supplier ( the reason I hadn’t used them initially was that they didn’t stock the length of boards I initially required )

Definitely won’t be using this company again.

Avoid using this company. I ordered and paid for the product over a week ago. No contact received regarding a delivery date etc. No customer service and generally a very poor service

Ordered primed wall panels over 7 days ago, took the money out of my account sent me the invoice. Today I tried telephoning them(pointless as there is nobody on the other end just a message telling you to message or email so I have today emailed and sent a message so am now waiting for a response. Wish I had read the reviews about this site prior to ordering. Will not be using this site ever again and recommend others do not. Looks like I will demanding a refund or contacting my bank. Having been to my bank I have to wait 15 days before I can start a dispute thats another 9 days. 16th January My items were delivered this morning but my review of 1 will remain as the items were damaged, they had wrapped sticking tape around the painted wood so when I took the tape off the paint also came off. One end of the board had been chipped, a dirty footprint was on the painted side and finally the packaging had been trampled all over. An absolute disgrace of a company. Becaus ethe damaged panelling is so big I can cut it to fit otherwise I would have to deal with the hassle of sending it back and that is something I cannot deal with after this experience. If I could upload photos I would have.

I am writing this in advance of receiving the items ordered which are mdf panels, only ordered them as they looked good value for money but not impressed at the cost of shipping, disappointed to find out that the 3-7 working days is not accurate and have been chasing the company on this for the past week. Having looked at other reviews I wish I had done that before purchasing these items! If they arrive damaged having nearly waited 3 weeks and paying over £50’postage I will be revising the two stars!

In line with the other reviews I would not use this company again. Ordered 5 acoustic wall panels. 3 were damaged with scratches and bits of laminate flaking off before we even got started. Emailed the company and didn't hear back. Emailed again and sent over photos. Got told the damage sounded unusual for the panels which I can see is a load of BS as others have had the same problem. I'll have to spend more replacing them with something better quality. almost £400 down the drain + decorator costs.

My order was put through twice by mistake and payment taken twice. Despite having received the second order back, they still haven't refunded the £170+ I am owed.
This company is not to be trusted as their admin is disgraceful.

Almost three weeks ago I ordered two sheets of phenolic ply. Having ordered from this company before and had reasonably good service, I was surprised that it did not arrive. Having now read the reviews on here I am no longer surprised.

Over the last two weeks, between both emails and phone calls I have been told that:
- the plywood was out for delivery
- it was back at the local depot
- it would likely arrive last Thursday (a week late)
- it would arrive that day, the next day, today, etc etc
- it was damaged in transit and new stock would not arrive until a week later and the only available replacement was an inferior product that according to the person in sales will not hold up outdoors (despite the site showing that it is 'the most durable choice, especially for external applications' which must then be classed as false advertising)
- the ply I originally ordered is also not suitable for prolonged exterior use despite the site showing that it is also 'the most durable choice, especially for external applications' and states its usefulness as a truck bed and in farming work (evidently further false advertising, or their sales people don't know about their own products)
- a screenshot of a fake signature on a delivery notification that obviously read 'paperwork' constituted 'proof of delivery' (this after being told that it had been delivered, with another fake signature reading 'paper', obviously 'paperwork's brother)
- I would receive a partial refund and be sent the inferior product by the next morning
- the last two sheets of this product were smashed up in loading them to deliver and no more was in stock
- I would be given a further refund and be sent the remainder of those two sheets less a 10cm slice to remove the damage and it would arrive this morning.

And guess what? To nobody's surprise, there has been no delivery today either.

This is quite frankly extraordinarily sh!t service all round. It takes a special level of incompetence which apparently this company alone achieves. Thanks to this extremely long delay, I cannot repair my home before I have major surgery and will not be able to do so now for some months while I recover (which was also made clear to them). All I wanted was to fix my home so I could live in it while I recover and instead I will be spending the next several months staying with friends and unable to even complete the repair.

This is a deeply stressful and upsetting thing to have to deal with, quite beyond words in fact. I had hoped to be able to get this repair sorted over a week ago and have plenty of time to get other things ready before heading in for the op, but now I have spent almost two immensely stressful weeks chasing up the delivery of just the components, which this company has so handily failed to deliver and smashed to pieces multiple times. What on earth is this absolute joke and scam of a business doing still running?

Having ordered from buildersmerchant before, I am frankly appalled at the drop in service and will be warning all my friends to steer well clear of this obvious scam company.

Non-existent customer service. Ordered MDF primed panels. Order was made nearly two weeks before required delivery date. Left messages to confirm all was in order..always diverted to answerphone. Emailed to no effect. V poor quality service. Would not use again and expect to have to demand a refund anyway.

I have waited 4 months for the delivery of 6 wheelie bins…. Lost in transit? Do not deal with this company if deliveries are time critical… for a refund deal with accounts and not sales, the sales lady simply wants to bait the customer.

Ordered MDF Primed Wall Panels. It's good that they have it in stock. I couldn't find this item anywhere else. Items arrived within informed date. Decent quality material but the corners were damaged. I fixed them somehow with wood glue, it doesn't look great but it is usable.

Slatpanel Contemporary Oak Acoustic Wood Wall Panel arrived damaged but I ignored that because I needed to shorten it so I cut off the bad bit but the panel itself has a very very thin laminate fake wood effect which comes off at the lightest touch. It's scratched and scraped just in the process of removing packaging. I put it up and had to take it back off and remove some slats and replace them with spares from the offcut. Awful cheap and nasty, I've lost £120 on nothing. Have photos of the literally paper thin laminate

If I could give 0, I would! After purchasing doors for a project and waiting the quoted 2-5 working day timescale. I contacted today to see where the doors were. The agent confirmed the doors were damaged and I wouldn’t have had any notification of that, unless I had contacted. I reasonably said that I will accept a replacement and they confirmed they’re out of stock, they don’t know when they’re getting more stock and ‘they’re sorry’. I asked to speak with a manager who is conveniently on annual leave, so will contact again Monday. I am now without the money for the doors and NO doors. Absolutely shocking experience and please read reviews before buying - I wish I did.
