Phoned Brightside as looking to change…
Phoned Brightside as looking to change my vehicle after only being insured with them for around 5 wks 6wks, was quoted £64 and some odd pence to swap insurance to a lower group vehicle and an older car by 2 years. When I asked why was I being charged for this as the new car is older and is worth less, they advised that there's a £35 admin, insurers were charging just over £19 and said the other was other charges but wouldn't specify what. Then I asked how much I would get back if I cancel the policy and they advised that I would loose 55% of what I'd paid. Think its absolutely disgusting for this company to charge nearly £65 to change vehicle which is 2 years older, lower insurance group and worth less. When I asked why, they just advised that these are the charges, and said that there was nothing they could do. I advised that I would not renew with them next year, the response was 'thats your choice'. In my experience with other insurers, if the insurance group is lowered and the car is older, then a discount is applied and you get a refund. Not just admin charges and charges from the insurer and why couldn't they explain what the extra £10 was for !!!
I'm so glad I opted out of auto renewal....
Never ever experienced such a bad service. It's all about what they can get out of you.

Not sure you're response is transparent tbh.... yes there are always admin charges but, like I said, lower group insurance, older car and the vehicle is worth less, which should therefore absorb any additional charges. But brightside obviously add charges and abit more and absorb nothing. Other than that, I have nothing to say.

We’re sorry to hear your unhappy with the additional premium quoted for changing your vehicle. When you complete a quote with us, our terms of business are provided to you which explains what our administration fees are for when you make a mid-term change and the fees if you cancel mid-term. We make the change, and a price is quoted to us by your insurer who have their own risk appetite based on the rating factors and price the policies accordingly, we are not privy to this information.
