I’m about to go on a long rant as to why you should choose to use breathe. If you would like to know why, please read on. If you can’t be bothered the summary is

“I’ve done the work all the work on this one, trust me and sign up with breathe”

I am a small business owner and have (slightly obsessively) gone through every major and most of the smaller card service providers.
I fell out of contact with worldpay a year into owning my first grownup business. If you are reading this then you will know what it is like to be buried in bureaucracy and paperwork when starting a business. There just simply isn’t the time to scrutinise every minuet detail of every contract that comes through the door. For survival you operate on the assumption that there a base level of human decency. As I was about to find out, it is not the case with card service providers. They are the upvc window salesmen of the 80’s.
Months after I had fallen out of contact I noticed the bills to worldpay had doubled and when I rang them, they told me it was my fault.
Now obviously, yes, it was. Of course it was, I did not scrutinise the contract, set a reminder and call them to renegotiate. Whilst blaming me they seemed to neglect to mention that the contract was dozens of pages of fine print, that the reminder email was sent as part of a block of marketing emails that I was bombarded with, that falling out of contract would double my fees.
So their usual tactic of shaming customers into feeling stupid blaming themselves and signing back up with them did not work with me. There was a clear and present unethical tactic at play and their attempt to blame me got to me.
Over the next 7 years I tried all the big guys, through brokers and direct too, every time explaining to them why I wanted to change card service suppliers. Every one of them empathised, told me the industry was full of immoral behaviour and then played the exact same game.
All I wanted was an honest, see through contract, that wasn’t designed to hide fees and price gouge.
Tony and Lewis have gone above and beyond. I honestly don’t know how they have managed to maintain patience with me. After an exhaustive and endlessly frustrating search I have found a card terminal and service provider combo that not only works for my business but through a company that clearly cares about doing a good job and fixing a broken, lying, price gouging industry.

Polite and swift service

Our card machine failed and following one initial e mail to report this, and 2 telephone calls to discuss the issue in detail, the response was swift, and our new machine arrived within 2 working days. I personally can't fault this company. We have used them for 3 years now, a recommended them to others, who have subsequently purchased a POS machine.

Use a London based payment company

Use a London based payment company. Despite Covid and losing my livelihood no leeway on contract so still paying two years later. Technically correct but no humanity.

Shocking company avoid

Shocking company, we opened two accounts for our business's from Breathe Payments. This was through the merchant bank Elevon. A member of breathe set our average transaction amount too low for one of the accounts. So when we started taking higher amounts Elevon shut both accounts instantly down, leaving us with no form of payments. And holding our money for 390 days. Breathe have basically stopped contacting us and left us suffering major losses in our business. It's been so traumatic losing money, and having a business who caused the problem to just wash there hands of us. They were more bothered about the honest review of there company. The funny thing is I have corospodence from them stating they messed up

Sorry that you feel the need to leave this review. We’ve been working with you and Elavon for the last week now to try and resolve this.

Unfortunately, your account was closed by Elavon for suspected fraud.

Contrary to your comments, this was not down to any error on the part of Breathe Payments, but due to what they perceive as suspicious activity on the account.

Despite our best efforts, it has not been possible to re-open the account.

Whilst the decision made was beyond our control, we nevertheless apologise for any disruption or stress it may have caused.

Love Breathe

Breathe have been amazing, firstly offering the best deal out there for an amazing little POS system. The guys are always there to help when needed too.
So glad I chose Breathe!! Great system and service!
