Worst experience ever! I said to the optician that I would just get the prescription after the test and buy glasses online, to which she didn't recommend. They lured me into the buy one get one free promotion, but didn't tell me about the additional charges (probs their tax loophole) So that all came to £550. Came back 2 week later after the glasses had arrived to glasses I couldn't see out of! Was refused a refund and done another eye-test done and the optician was persistent that I needed that prescription (which was a huge jump from my old one) after telling her I couldn't see or get used to them multiple times, she finally gave in and lowered the prescription. She was sighing when I told her the prescription was not good for me and felt rushed so she could get another customer in. I was lucky to get to exchange the glasses at the managers descretion as I was over the 30 day return period which was only £100 out of the £550 I had payed previously.I had to re-book my appointment (takes them forever to answer the phone also) as the optician was sick so the next time I could get was when I was off-shift to then they tried to say I was out of the return period. I thought would have been free due to the opticians mess up, but was then charged another £350, so the total came to £900 for 2 pair of glasses due to the opticians poor work ethic. Give yourself a tap on the back!

The clinical team do not understand customer service
Go to Boots Oracle opticians if your needs are simple but avoid at all costs if you are looking for the customer service Boots is generally known for from their clinical teams at other branches (I used to live in Birmingham where it was excellent). Have continuously found their style to be robotic, unwilling to help when there is an issue and at points extremely condescending.
Two years I go I had an appointment for a glasses fitting and took time off work to come in and they had not arrived. No apology was even given just “we have a backlog”.
I have given two stars rather than one as not everyone was difficult during my visit today but I find the clinical team at the Boots Oracle branch continually lacking in customer service. The standard just isn’t the same as in other Boots optician branches.
I moved my daughter, who has autism, away from Boots a couple of years ago as found the clinical team just so lacking in empathy in how they dealt with her. By contrast, her current smaller opticians are kind, helpful and explain things to her kindly.
On coming in today (for the third visit) I didn’t have the right paperwork to get her prescription sunglasses. This was mainly due to an error from her regular opticians. But the Boots team todat could have helped me identify what was needed the first two times I came in and was sent away. Three visits just isn’t helpful.
The clinical specialist I spoke to today was incredibly rude. She was of course right in that she couldn’t help me without the paperwork. But her tone was rude, haughty and completely lacking in empathy that I would need to take yet more time off on Monday to visit again.
A simple understanding of another’s perspective, reassurance that everything would be done Boots side to help… well, anything really would have gone a long way when you are not going out of your way as a consumer to get things wrong and just expect your specialists to well… help you a bit more as a non expert.
By contrast my daughters regular opticians go out of their way to be helpful, explain things to us and I know had we visited there today with the same issue.., the empathy would have been there. And some understanding you are the customer.

One of the best
The pre appointment attention to detail and reminders were excellent, not over the top, just enough. On arrival the front of shop assistants were very helpful quick to get you settled in and tell you what the process was and all about the eye health assessments carried out before seeing the Optician.
The Optician herself was one of the most pleasant and informative people I have dealt with and explained fully what was going on and a detailed overview of my eye scan.
Once more when selecting my glasses the assistants were there if I needed them but not intrusive while I was making my choices.
Full marks to Boots Opticians Cramlington.

Damaged arm on my sunglasses
I met a lovely young lady in my local boots store today who advised that I had a 50/50 chance of the arm on my sunglasses snapping off. I damaged them out of shape making them impossible to wear. Luckily she was able to bend them back perfectly.

Website is a disgrace
The website to manage my contract lenses is a disgrace. Ridiculous length write name and very unfriendly experience. Having asked AI what it thinks of the site then it does not have a good word to say! It states that the site looks as though it has been out sourced to a company that had no experience. Complained about the wetsuit but no one had come back. Verity put service and disgraceful site.

Boots opticians Morpeth. From the start of ordering my glasses with Lucinda who is very knowledgeable and professional to collection today with Michelle. Time was taken for fitting and cleaning. Both staff were great and friendly. Good communication with the order and was able to collect within five working days.

A super experience
A super experience from the moment I entered the Darlington store. Greeted warmly, dealt with swiftly, great eye test with a friendly optometrist and a very friendly young man helped me to choose my glasses. I must be getting old as the prescription changed again with new glasses coming in two weeks, which is a quick turnaround. Just wish they were cheaper!

Exceptional customer service once again!
I visited the Durham branch on 8th June for an earlier than planned eye test due to me having a slight accident with my specs. The appointment was very easy to book online, followed by a confirmation text however after booking I did ring the store to confirm if Roz and Julie would be in that day due to exceptional customer service in the past. Roz is so patient with me, definitely takes her time in helping me choose specs that suits , and takes her time to explain the procedures and also a little laughter along the way too. Julie the Optometrist is so friendly and makes you feel so relaxed. After a through examination including the OCT scan she answered lots of questions I had about my eye health. We also had laughter too. Having received my prescription Roz thought it would be a good idea to take out insurance to cover any damage to the lenses as I opted for lenses with full sun protection due to being outdoors most of my time and the possibility of my eyes been damaged in the past by UV. Having left the optician and so pleased with the exceptional customer service once again I rang my aunt and highly recommended visiting as she was looking for a new optician.
