This was the worst experience I have ever had! They are apparently the parent company of holidaycars.com. Terrible service. They did not email a confirmation to me despite charging my card. I had to repeatedly email and ask for it. I finally got it and printed my voucher, only to arrive and have an expired reservation. The car I had been charged for and reserved had already been given away and no others were around to be had. When you call the number for customer assistance, you’ll be put on hold for long periods of time. This company is full of incompetent people and are in the business of stealing money. DO NOT GIVE THEM YOUR BUSINESS. It is a scam.

They steal your refund if you need to return the car earlier than intended.

Booked via Easyjet. Paid the rental price upfront. I was left with no car at Malaga airport, unless I wanted to pay extra 270 Euros "insurance". Cartrawler's customer service is awful - they could not care less. Avoid!

hours later...it gets better...cartrawler at easyjet have apparently lied and misquoted europcar manager in their email to me...to defend the £200 they have taken from me and consider it resolved...shocking

booked europcar rental through easyjet website without realising it went through cartrawler, late arrival at gatwick and ended up stranded after £200 was tken off my credit card at booking.
Europcar representative wouldnt give me the car - entered y personal details into her phone, demanded address proof from me - even though she had all my id and driving license and then two declined payments through their machines - which my bank said were not declined by them but by faulty terminals - yet now as i thought they are syaing i defaulted on the rental and will not refund the £200
i have chased every line - europcar, easyjet, cartrawler and all denying it and saying its resolved and basically are keeping the money!
time to involve fraud team and police i think, this is basically theft
i cant believe they get away with something so blatant
never ever use any third party rental for anything

Car hire booked under EasyJet brand. Flights cancelled. Car Hire refund guaranteed but not processed. Rep cancelled the insurance but not the main car hire cost. Chased 40 days later & now need to wait a further 30 days to see if it comes through 2nd time of asking. Looks intentional so people do not take the time & effort to follow up. Poor service.

I rented a car through cartrawler.com, which I paid for, incl. a voluntary extra insurance via AXA insurance that was to insure me against 1100 EURO self-liability insurance.
When I had to pick up the car at Goldcar in Palma de Mallorca airport, they could see my booking, but claimed that there was no payment for the car !? I showed that receipt from cartrawler, but it did not matter, if I wanted the car delivered from Goldcar I would have to pay 410 EURO !! ??
In order not to ruin the holiday, I had to pay as I wanted a car. My bank told me that I should contact Goldcar to talk to them again, at the counter they claimed that it was NORMAL to pay over 800 EURO for a Seat Ibiza 1.0 (80 HP) for 10 days !! ??
It is clear that CARTRAWLER.COM & GOLDCAR together deliberately cheat their customers so that they can be allowed to pay double rent for their cars, or not get a car delivered.

NEVER USE CARTRAWLER + GOLDCAR !!!

Our holiday was cancelled due to COVID and all the flights cancelled but CarTrawler will not refund our deposit even though we cancelled within the deadlines.
They say they have provided a refund but they don't actually refund. They lie to you to make you go away thinking it is being sorted, but they have no intention of repaying the money.
Please don't book with them

Found out this shower were the third link in the chain of a bad experience on booking car hire and subsequently car refund due to airline cancellation and civid-19.
They were quick to point out contact number on their documentation which incidentally I still have not located their web site on customer contact is very poor and does not allow you quick contact deceive work is required to reach the source who are quick to shear responsibility under their cancellation policy. Result never use them again.

I booked a return airport transfer in Mexico. Arriving in the airport there was no driver (as promised) and the emergency customer service did not answer. The next day I contacted the emergency number again, and was told that I should just get a refund. This has not happened yet.

My return transfer to the airport was late, and made no apology and was driven by a sub-contractor.

Avoid them at all cost if you can. I am surprised Emirates would partner with a company that offers a poor service and customer experience.

I booked a flight to Dubai which was delayed and in attempting to rebook the pickup, the pickup was instead cancelled and I was informed I could not get a refund as this was less than 24 hours before the pickup time.

I had booked pickup from the airport and from the hotel in 7 days but they cancelled both pickups. I should have read the reviews before booking but in my eyes this is fraudulent.

Avoid at all cost.

You are the informant of this rental deal, You have made me pay for two insurance now, im not happy, i Will never use You Again and i Will make sure the World Will know it to. Comme plusieurs sociétés dans le secteur de la location : de vrais escrocs.

J'ai loué un voiture pour plusieurs jours en passant par cette plateforme me pensant relativement sécurisé.

En arrivant chez Rhodium je leur transmets ma carte d'identité au format electronique ainsi que mon permis de conduire, lui, en carte et l'on me dit que si je n'ai pas de carte d'identité au format papier, malgré le fait que je dispose d'une pièce d'identité matérialisée (permis de conduire qui est reconnu sur le site du gouvernement francais comme pièce d'identité valide) le contrat stipule qu'il peuvent ne pas me donner de voiture .

Ce qu'ils ont fait !

En revanche, Rhodium a tout de même eu le culot de me faire passer un peu plus loin des clients pour me proposer de récupérer une voiture si je payais un supplément qui correspond au double du prix, ce que j'ai, bien évidemment, refusé.

Rhodium m'a donc dit qu'ils ne me donneraient pas de voiture et de voir avec CarTrawler pour remboursement.

Mauvaise surprise en rentrant chez moi : chez CarTrawler on me dit qu'ils sont couvert par le contrat qui stipule qu'ils peuvent se reserver le droit, dans ce cas, de conserver l'argent.

Résultat des courses : j'ai payé pour un loueur (RHODIUM) peu scrupuleux pour me retrouver sans voiture !!

Évitez à tout prix Rhodium et ce site CarTrawler qui ne sont vraiment que des escrocs et qui, malgré tous leurs avis payés, vous arnaqueront dès que l'occasion se présentera.

N'hésitez surtout pas à diffuser cette information.

I Booked a car with cartrawler, I thought it was with Dollar car rental, as all emails I got, was from Dollar e-mails.

When i got to FLL airport to get my rental, I was asked to pay an additional 379 dollars. I refused as this was not written anywhere in the agreement i got.

The clerk at Dollar told me to call Cartrawler, to get a refund, which i did, and they brushed me off saying I should talk to Dollar about this issue. Dollar refused to refund me, as they told me that cartrawler did not pay them.

I called cartrawler back, and they asked med to create a dispute on their website.

I did, and i said that i would get a reply within 5-7 days. This is now 15 days since, and i have not heard from them, nor gotten my prepayment back.

They stole my money and tried to cheat me of more money in the airport.

I will never would want anyone to have the same experience as me. So pls. dont use them to book a car.

SCAMMERS hiding behind nice looking website and an illusion of customer service.

Booked a car in the morning for the next day. The transaction failed to go through. They say in small print that if that happens they will re-book again. I read the small print so waited the whole day. At 11pm there was no email, no voucher, nothing from them. So I booked another car as my flight was in the morning. And here is the funny bit: 11:50 pm they booked the car for me! And took the payment, even though I complained and cancelled and did all I could, just hours before my flight. Nothing worked - they took the payment for two cars!!! Communication with them is a real struggle. They say they will contact you within 48 hours which obviously doesn't happen.

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY, THEY ARE A SCAM. It says on their website that it has 5 stars with Trust Pilot, which is a flat out lie, not surprised since they have a bunch of other lies on the website as well.

It said that we could book without a credit card, but that they would just put a deposit on our debit card for $300, which was fine since we knew we would get it back. Wrong. At the counter when we went to pick up the car, they told us that we did need a credit card, and when we cancelled they told us it would take about 3 business days for the funds to be returned. After contacting customer support, they advised us that it will take up to 30 days instead. Then a few days later after that we got an email stating that basically they feel they did nothing wrong, and that they will not be refunding us our money.

So you're telling me that you're keeping my $300 deposit for a car that we didn't even rent? This company is a scam, not sure how they're even still a company.

False advertising - NOT free cancellation of car rental
Booked a car via Norwegian, and it was done via CarTrawler. It clearly stated on the website, that there was free cancellation up until 24 hrs.

NOT SO. I am trying to cancel my reservation now, 10 days before. THEY ARE CHARGING ME £48!

Illegal advertising. Will never use them again. Nor Norwegian car rental

Update - changed from 1 to 2 stars - after tweeting and FB msg them, they CXL my booking, no charge.

CAUTION, this is an Scheme and they opérate as while label in different airlines websites, such as WOWAIR.
Although they promote it’s free cancellation, I am triunfó to cancel my Reservation, but once you enter on “My Booking area” (the only way they say you can cancel it), you cannot find anywhere to do it. More than that, I have searched for a phone contact and they don’t disclose any.

CAUTION 2: in the small letters, they say you MUST bring a printed version of your confirmation (what??), otherwise you will be charged in the desk a fee!!
This Wasn’t told during the Booking process, neither in the email confirmation. I Just saw it in the website when I was trying to find the way to cancel the booking.

I haven’t even started the rental, but the pre-experience has been the Worst so far.

Absolutely terrible.
Customer service costs you a fortune (waiting time are enormous), but you do need to wait since they do reply to emails (5 emails to different addresses). Prices appear low, but you end up paying a lot of money anyway for the car. Waiting time to get the car was 2 and an half hours.

Looks cheap - but please spend a bit more and have a good first start of your holiday, instead of a terrible one.

We booked a car online through a website which stated that no credit card was needed, however upon booking confirmation it stated that one was. We then clicked the link to cancel the booking, on the Easi Rebt website however it stated that we could not cancel online and needed to get hold of customer service which we tried to do however they did not answer their phone. We then cancelled directly through the rental company hertz. The website booking stated that the booking could be cancelled up to seven days after reservations. A few days later I had the full amount taken from my bank account by a third company, Car trawler. I sent a message and called and was told the booking was cancelled and they would look into my refund and have just been sent an email stating hat no refund will be given and no proper justification for this was given. Absolute day light robbery.
