The good: well, the knives came back sharp. And that was the primary purpose of using the service, and I can't complain about that. So that's good.

The not so good: two things - (1) a lot of steel was taken off the knives. I mean a lot. Looking at the reviews here, other people have made the same comment. Maybe this is buried somewhere on their website, but it's not on the main 'how it works' section of their website. (2) - the 'how it works' section of the website also doesn't mention how the default, cheaper shipping option only insures your knives for £20. I only really clocked this after I had bought the service and had a bit of stress wondering if pricey Japanese knives would actually make it back to me.

I would certainly not use this company again. Bought my daughter a 3 knife sharpening as a gift. When the knives were returned the tips of 2 knives had been removed. The knives were sharp but had lost the knife tip which you use for scoring meat and vegetables. The company’s response has been very poor and extremely unhelpful. They have tried to argue that the state of the knives is acceptable and have not offered to either rectify the problem or replace them. My daughter is left with the knives in a damaged state. All in all would not use them! I don’t usually leave reviews just wanted to warn others.

Had seven knives of all different ages, lengths and thickness, sharpened March 24. Excellent service from start to finish, and they are now probably sharper than when new! Cannot fault this service and thank you!

At last I have my knives sharp. I’ve had some good quality knives languishing in my kitchen draws for years, I’ve put them on oil stones and wet stones many times and have never been able to get a good edge on them, now I have them sharp and ready to use with confidence. Blade and Butler’s service is easy to use and the knives get returned in a few days, couldn’t be better.

Got 10 knives sharpened and I am really impressed. Sharpener to better than new, chips removed and all sent back within a few days. Hassle free and top results! I'll be using Blade and Butler again, for sure!

Sent of my knifes to be sharpened, unfortunately Evri delivery was used for the initial part to send me my sleeves, and took what I can imagine a century to arrive. I sent my knifes with DPD delivery, had them sharpened and shipped back to me all within 4 business days but I cannot blame you for Evri’s incompetence. You received, sharpened and returned before Evri could only do one job lol.
My knifes were very bloody sharp so well done, did my own tomato test too and they did well. Overall thank you and I’ll see you again in 6 months

I have cooked all my life (now aged 85 and firmly believe a sharp knife is far less dangerous that a blunt one!I Discovered your service after giving up on a Cardiff knife grinder who never got them SHARP!! I am 100% satisfied with your service ....you get what you pay for...a good maxim. Discovered you a bit late in life!!

Easy to use box arrived as expected, returned with blunt knives and about 5 days later, knives returned beautifully sharp without large chips! Very happy with service.

My knives aren't expensive ones but they have sentimental value to me. I remember the days when a guy used to come to your door and sharpen knives, but that hasn't happened for many years now. 😊 I am hopeless at sharpening them myself and always make a pig's ear of it.

I am not a professional chef or cook, and I do a limited amount of preparation, so I wasn't sure whether an average of £10 per knife was worth it, but I decided to try.

The delivery service worked well and I was only without my knives for less than a week overall.

I sent three non-serrated knives to be sharpened and they certainly are very sharp indeed, I just hope they remain sharp for a good long time.

Shipping was fast (I used Evri) and the knives I sent in to be sharpened came back better than new. I would highly recommend 👌

On first impression our order to have 5 knives sharpened and returned was great. The packaging and shipping time was very good. We even got their recommendation temp knife (which is now sharper than our £800 knives) for use whilst our 17yr old WÜSTHOF Classic knives were being sharpened (one repaired) for the first time since we purchased them. Until early that year 2023 they did not require much sharpening tbh and we always got on well just using the sharpening steel that came with our knife set/block.

My husband wanted to surprise me for my birthday and have the damaged knife repaired and also have the others sharpened as a bonus. When they arrived, they looked great and worked well for a few months. Then they started to quickly lose their sharpness. It’s been a very stressful year for health reasons for me otherwise I would have posted this sooner. Even the back of the knife cut better before we had them sharpened than they do now. Not only are they no longer very sharp, but now they are getting rust spots and water marks all over them which they’ve not done in 17yrs of owning them. I’m quite frustrated if I’m honest… I would argue they cut better before we sent them to Blade & Butler than they do now 9mths after they were apparently professionally sharpened. So now we have an £800 block of knives that definitely don’t pass the tomato test and struggles to cut, celery, tomatoes, cooked or raw meat well. Not impressed.

Edit to 1 star since their reply: I don’t appreciate being gaslit and essentially called an idiot. We kept these knives in very good condition (bar a flame accident with a handle and trying to cut something that was too frozen which damaged the chef’s knife) for over a decade with no rust issues and have not changed how we cleaned them or treated them. They don’t go in the dishwasher. They are hand washed in fairy liquid and hand dried and put away. Everyone of the knives YOU sharpened now will rust if wash and not dried immediately. You have removed or damaged something in your sharpening that has caused this because our other knives that we didn’t send off, do not do this! Our knives required very little “maintenance” in regards to keeping them sharp before and now we are having to use our steel with every use… we’ve never in 17yrs used a sharpening service and tbh only sent them off to have the large chef knife repaired and the others being done was meant to be a bonus, but has left them damaged as well. Owning knives shouldn’t require a degree in sharpening. I have 20yr old Cutco knives that never need sharpening. You pay for this when you buy quality utility knives… I’m now wishing my husband had ordered the HORL sharpener instead. 2nd Edit: again with the dismissal of my experience to make yourself look better. WÜSTHOF Recommend a professional sharpening every 2 yrs, so why has your work lasted less than that, where previously we never had issues with our own maintenance? 😬
