Good portal, even better call customer service

Had a 4 year PCP, portal works well, easy to use. No problems.

When closing finance, new dealership didn’t clear the account in good time which led to an extra charge on my agreement, Joanne in settlements processed my refund for that overpayment on call with me straight away and was so helpful. Amazing customer service, and do wish my new finance agreement was with Blackhorse

Call Finance

In late 2019, just before the first national lockdown, I financed a vehicle through Black Horse. Within a short period of time, the vehicle developed multiple faults and had to return to garages on several occasions for inspections and attempted repairs.
I raised my concerns early, as the vehicle was clearly unreliable. Unfortunately, I did not feel supported during the process. The way the matter was handled caused significant stress at what was already a very uncertain time personally and nationally. Instead of working toward a fair and reasonable solution, I felt my concerns were minimised and pushed back on.
With no resolution in sight, I escalated the case to the Financial Ombudsman Service. After reviewing all of the evidence, the Ombudsman ruled in my favour and confirmed that the vehicle was not fit for purpose. I exercised my legal right to reject the vehicle and received compensation following that decision.
While vehicle issues can happen, it is how situations are handled that truly matters. In my experience, the process added unnecessary pressure and stress rather than support.
Would I recommend Black Horse Finance based on my experience? Unfortunately, no.
I believe customers should be aware of their rights and prepared to escalate matters if they feel they are not being treated fairly.

Bought a car on the 28th June 2025

Bought a car on the 28th June 2025, the car has since broke twice within a 6 month period this time round the car is dead and will not run on its own power. After getting a full diagnosis from a garage it shows 22 faults with the vehicle, I made a complaint & advised the car is not fit for purpose or trustworthy and would like a full refund. they have completed their investigation and told us that although yes the faults are not my fault and possibly already on the vehicle at the purchase time, I wont be refunded and will have to wait for it to be fixed with no courtesy car or time frame of when it will be ready due to a back log with land rover. They did however offer me £200 in compensation for the grievance it may have caused in the two months of not having the car so far! My advice is this, if youre getting finance and blackhorse are the company offering it, stay well clear of them. I reported an electrical fault with motorpoint who point blank lied to the blackhorse saying I never, even though id sent all my evidence to them showing the lies. Yet im still without a car, in the 8months total of having the car 3 of them months its not been driveable. motorpoint & blackhorse are both very dodgy businesses. Ive now escalated to the ombudsman in hopes of getting a proper resolution. Stay away from these two companies as they are dodgy to deal with!

I am very cross with this company

I am very cross with this company, I have paid my money each month on time for 3 years, I paid my finance of last week in full, They took my DD out which I knew they would but they said they would refund me the money.
The lady I spoke to said that’s fine you don’t need to call us once the funds are cleared I will refund the £200 to your account.. Guess what the funds cleared last Wednesday the finance on my car has been paid but the refund has not been paid even though my black horse account shows 0, where is my refund?? I spoke to someone else who says it was sent to me by cheque and can take 10 working days, who sends cheques, I was told they could cancel the cheque that will take 5 days then they would have to raise a refund request that takes another 5 days then another 3 days to transfer the money.. all I want is for my money so i can start paying for my new car… come on Black horse get your act together

Stay well away from this finance…

Stay well away from this finance company!
Customer service is awful, I took a small loan out for a car, was passed immediately, then two weeks before delivery they just pulled the plug on the finance without any information.
Luckily for me it didn’t matter as I had the money anyway but still awful service from a company with no morals!
I can see now why they’ve been looked into for false claims!
My advice, use another company!

I had a PCP contract and ended it early…

I had a PCP contract and ended it early (by selling my finance to we buy any car). I have had my lease with BlackHorse for over 3 years and they have been fantastic. If I ever called with a query, their customer service is superb, best I have experienced in a long time. Always friendly and kind, super helpful in answering my queries, and I always leave the calls happy. I have to deal with a lot of awful calls and bad customer service, but I hope Black Horse never change their customer support staff.

Website is pointless if you need to…

Website is pointless if you need to change an email address or password. It has all the eye candy but, upon copy/pasting the very same password used to access the site as a form of authentication for a change, you are met with the password is wrong, which basically means they are forcing you to use the ancient letter or telephone support system. It's 2026 BHF not 1922 ?

I struggle to understand why these guys have any lesser stars than 5* my experience with these guys was brilliant and i dealt with multiple people over the phone very professional, 100% accurate advice was given and my query was dealt with straight away.

Strong Arm Tactics At End Of PCB Contract

Returned a car to Black Horse at the end of a PCP agreement and was hit with hundreds of pounds of alleged “damage” charges with no initial explanation or evidence.

When I challenged them, part of the bill was quietly dropped because the inspection photos were unclear. Despite that, Black Horse continued chasing the remaining balance without providing clear proof the damage existed when the car was returned or that I was responsible. The car was then sold through BCA auction without any repairs being carried out - I know as I watched it go through - which makes the charge even harder to justify.

The worst part: while this charge is formally disputed and now with the Financial Ombudsman Service, Black Horse have placed a six-year default on my credit file. I was told that if I paid the disputed amount, the default would be marked as “satisfied”.

In plain terms: pay a charge you dispute, or accept long-term damage to your credit record.

This feels less like customer service and more like financial pressure. I would not use Black Horse again and would strongly warn anyone on a PCP to document everything and be prepared to fight post-return charges.

Extremely poor handling of Consumer Rights Act and FCA obligations

Car purchased on finance with Black Horse in April 2025. In December 2025, the vehicle suffered a catastrophic mechanical failure. This breakdown is directly linked to a manufacturer recall, which I was formally notified of in November 2025.
Despite clear evidence, Black Horse have refused to acknowledge any responsibility under the Consumer Rights Act 2015. I have been able to demonstrate that the vehicle was sold with an inherent fault, as the recall letter explicitly identifies a design and manufacturing defect that leads to premature wear and/or failure of critical components.
As the finance provider, Black Horse are jointly liable under consumer law, yet they have consistently failed to act appropriately or fairly. They have also failed to meet their duty of care under FCA regulations, showing little understanding of their legal obligations or willingness to resolve the matter.

This situation has had a serious impact on my family. We are a household of six, including four children, two of whom are under the age of four. As a direct result of Black Horse’s failure to deal with this matter appropriately, we have been left without the use of a vehicle for over seven weeks. This has caused significant disruption to daily life, including childcare, work, medical appointments, and essential travel, adding unnecessary stress to an already difficult situation. The attitude and conduct of the "complaints handler" can only be described as vile and unsympathetic.

This issue is now subject to ongoing discussions with the Financial Ombudsman Service, following their "case review", due to Black Horse’s continued refusal to comply with consumer law and regulatory standards.

Based on my experience, I would strongly caution anyone considering finance through Black Horse. Their approach when something goes wrong is dismissive, obstructive, and legally questionable.

Black horse have been so helpful when…

Black horse have been so helpful when my car dealer would not settle my finance. Communication on their side was 10/10, they pressured dealer and I finally had my car settled and my overpayment returned at last. Brilliant finance company.

Avoid avoid avoid!

Disgusting company. Raised a dispute over an issue.
Staff were nothing but vile in their conduct.
Any company that allows staff to talk to consumers in that way should not be allowed to operate.
