Really good coffee. Delivered correctly.

The coffee really was weak and I tried all three blends to give it a chance. I strongly suggest you send other coffee in your discovery pack as this really was awful and not a good representation of BEAR.
I toon out a subscription elsewhere based on their taster pack and delivery time which was faster.

TL;DR doesn't work well with Krups Essenza Mini so won't reorder but upset about this!

DELIVERY - GOOD
I ordered the Bear Discovery box for Nespresso (pods). The coffee took 5 days to arrive and I'd only say that was a bit slow because the arrival was anticipated!

WEBSITE - OK
I wish there was more detail about the varieties of coffee. Two of the varieties I received don't seem to be listed in the pod section :( I'd like to know more, roasting and intensity levels like other brands (OK, I know these are "meaningless" but I was compatible info to other brands basically).

PACKAGING - AMAZING
I've tried Grind in the past and Bear surpassed my expectations which were pretty high. The packaging was able to fit through my postbox which is very convenient. Each set of pods came with a card explaining the origins of each coffee including a little story about the producers, the usual "tasting notes" bumf etc which was a nice touch. The pods themselves had colour coded collars so you can tell the 3 varieties apart.

PODS - OK/POOR
This is the crux of the issue, the pods are a terrible fit with my machine (Krups Nespresso Essenza Mini). The pod doesn't slot in neatly and there needs to be pressure to push the lid shut. The machine then starts, has trouble piercing the compostable pod (compared to the aluminum pods). There's a slight delay in the machine starting, not hugely but enough to tell. The water runs slowly, dribbles even. There's quite a bit of ground in the wash through after (but I admit, none in the coffee!). The pod is covered by filter paper, not aluminium. I do wonder if this isn't able to keep the grounds as fresh...

TASTE - AMAZING
I received Kinini (Rwanda) and two from India. So far I've tried two and I have to say they are delicious. If the taste and design of the pod packaging were the only two factors I would pay the price because, while high, the quality is worth it.

PRICE - 30 pods for £16.50 which is 55p per pod. Even with the 20% off for subs, why wouldn't I just get the official Nespresso ones at 45p per pod?

VARIETY - N/A
I choose the discovery box so you get what you're given. However, you can choose single varieties to order from the website (but as mentioned, I can't see 2 of the ones I received).

FRESHNESS - N/A
There's no date listed on the pods. Grind do specify when their coffee was ground which is a nice touch but not absolutely essential.

Coffee is Beautiful...Food is Fantastic....Customer Service is Amazing

I love Bear, the coffee is great, the staff are friendly and accommodating, the menu always offers a great range of high quality food.
I especially love the fact that the first Bear was opened in my local town, it feels unique.

Terrible service from moment of entry. We where ignored by the staff at the desk and had to ask if we could sit, which we did and we where assured that a waiting staff would be over to take our order. 25 minutes later, we where still being ignored whilst new arrivals where immediately attended to. By this time my 8 year old child was very hungry but we'd not even been able to order a drink. I then went over to the desk to notify them that they'd missed us and we had been waiting. I was once again ignored by the staff and subsequently decided to leave. The whole experience was awkward and rude on their part. I'd like to be able to comment on the food an drink, however we where denied the prospect and disregarded. Would not recommend.

Lovely relaxing atmosphere, staff are very welcoming and attentive, the food is phenomenal and I it's my new favourite place to Brunch!!

Use Bear’s compostable pods and the taste is excellent. The pods work reliably in my machine too, unlike compostable pods that I have tried before

Clean and pleasant coffee shop, friendly service, attractive decor, comfortable furniture, tasty coffee and desserts.

Pods delivered again, with the decaf perhaps the real star for people who struggle with too much caffeine- give it a go and see if you can tell the difference.
