Item is as advertised and nice finish. My initial score was down to delivery cost being more than this very small, light item, however, Daniel at BAL has responded sympathetically with a generous shipping cost reduction, very much appreciated.
Having spent many of my working years in airline customer service management, I know that a positive response to complaint is far more praiseworthy than no complaint. Thank you.

Hi Colin,
Thanks for the feedback. I must admit, I was a little disappointed to see a two-star review when, from your comments, it sounds as though you were otherwise very happy with the item. It was as advertised, you were pleased with the finish, and as far as we’re aware there were no issues with the order or delivery itself. Your only criticism appears to be the postage charge, so I’m not sure the two-star rating really reflects the overall experience you’ve described.
That said, having looked at the order, I do take your point. The postage charge does seem disproportionately high for such a small, lightweight item.
Unfortunately, we can’t generally offer free postage on products like this as there is very little margin in them, but there is certainly room for us to improve how postage is calculated for smaller items. We’re a small business and our website currently uses fairly broad flat-rate postage charges rather than calculating every product individually by size and weight.
Your feedback has highlighted that this doesn’t work particularly well for items like this, so we’ll look at introducing a lower postage category for small, lightweight products.
In the meantime, as a gesture of goodwill, I’ve retrospectively refunded a proportion of the postage charge on your order.
Thanks again for bringing it to our attention, and I’m glad to hear that you were otherwise happy with the item.
Kind regards,
Daniel
