Poor quality goods, terrible customer service (from the manager, the shop assistant that originally sold item was very pleasant) at Baggage World at The Spires in Barnet. Was sold a faulty case (handle broke during minimal single use hence not fit for purpose, clearly a fault in the product construction). Attempted to return within a week. Uninterested, instead offering to repair same faulty product and refusing any discussion of replacement let alone refund - just kept repeating they would only replace if they couldn't repair. I've now seen some of the excuses they put on negative reviews, but can honestly state none of those apply in this instance on a case that they advertised as having an RRP of £150! Expected a simple pleasant exchange, but not to be. Wish I'd read some reviews before buying from them. Won't be back.

I bought a suitcase from Baggage World in The Spires, High Barnet, on 28 July. By 5 August, while travelling home from a short trip to Rotterdam, it had already broken.

For clarity, we travelled by Eurostar, not by air. The suitcase was never checked in with an airline or subjected to airport baggage handling. It was a low-impact journey involving normal use of the suitcase, on flat, smooth ground and plenty of space in the hold area of the train.

I mention this because I have seen Baggage World respond to other reviews by suggesting that damage may have been caused by airline baggage handlers or accidental damage. That explanation does not apply in my case.

When I returned to the shop, I explained that the suitcase had failed after only a few days and one short trip. Despite this, they refused to replace it or give me a refund.

My understanding is that under the Consumer Rights Act 2015, goods must be of satisfactory quality, fit for purpose and durable. Where faulty goods are rejected within 30 days, consumers may have a statutory right to a refund. Given that this suitcase failed within days of purchase during normal use, I believe the refusal to provide an appropriate remedy failed to respect my statutory consumer rights.

A new suitcase should reasonably withstand a short Eurostar trip without breaking. I am extremely disappointed not only with the quality of the suitcase, but also with the way Baggage World handled my complaint.

Based on my experience, I would NOT recommend you buy your luggage from Baggage World in The Spires, High Barnet.

Went to Stratford Westfield branch and the assistances Tehnay and Rose were very helpful explaining the products. They provided excellent customer services in a professional manner. Their action was a credit to the company and will encourage me to return to the store.

I visited the Basildon branch. Got what I wanted for a good price. The customer service is what I'm giving the five stars for though. Sue was so helpful, friendly and welcoming and really took time with me to make sure I could find what I needed. The shop manager was just as helpful.

I bought a suitcase from Baggage World at the Spires High Barnet less than a year ago. During my last trip my suitcase fell down a few steps on the underground and it split open on one side! I took the suitcase with a receipt back to the shop and to my surprise and disappointment, they told me that they will do nothing. I will not be buying from retailer again, prices there might be reduced for a reason – faulty products…?
