I had a very unique situation when it came to ACT prep. Prior to my tutoring with John Oh, I had been through multiple other ACT prep tutors and courses. All of which, however, left me feeling underwhelmed and unprepared. I came to John frustrated with my score, knowing I could do better. I was putting in the work but I wasn’t seeing results. Kate helped my son with applications to competitive summer internships. Kate was so flexible and made herself being available to be reached when needed. She has the gift of writing that she could quickly review my son’s essays, give great feedback, and guided him to edit his essays that stayed true to him. Working with John Oh raised by SAT score over 200 points. In October, I got a 1300 on my practice SAT. I began working with John at the end of February every week in order to prepare for the May SAT. John was super encouraging and helpful throughout this whole process, challenging me and ultimately raising my score to a 1510.

I came upon A-List Education at a time where I was struggling with my SAT/college preparations the most. Being a student who had wanted to improve, I had worked with multiple tutors and tutoring companies to try and find what was right for me. But after hours of practice and effort, I had still been unable to improve my SAT score by even one point. This is when I had the honor of meeting John Oh of A-List. Meeting John is an experience I can say is no short than life changing. Its meaningfulness and impact upon me is apparent. Rather than every tutor or instructor I had ventured before, John took the time to learn WHO his student actually was - rather than assign me a standard template of practice problems and assignments. In just the brief 4 weeks of working with John (meeting for only about 30 minutes each week), I improved my SAT score by over 150 points!

Beyond my SAT, I worked with John for over a year with formulating and strategizing not only my common app essay, but supplemental essays as well. Each time we came across a new prompt, it would be natural for a common tutor to provide bland/generic thoughts of essay revision and edits. But, John is far from ordinary. It is not an overstatement to say John is no less than committed to his student's success personally. John was not only my teacher during this journey- but a mentor, colleague, and even a friend. His genuinity in working with his students affirm this notion and intent. One that leaves a student (such as myself) with such a deep resonance and impact unlike any other. Oftentimes when approaching a prompt, John and I would sit for hours simply to discuss various aspects of my life and who I as his student even was. In learning who I was, he learned how best to help me succeed and craft some of my absolute best writing to date.

I realize now the true fruit of John's abilities. John did not add another piece onto me in order to help me succeed. Rather, he unlocked the potential within me and helped me realize my capabilities- I just needed a little push in the right direction. It is nothing short of extraordinary, impactful, and inspiring to have had the opportunity working with John. Thank you A-List, and thank you John for lighting the path for the next steps in my journey!

Alex helped me in every way he could. Focusing on my problem areas and visiting material that I had no experience in. This helped me get a score that I didn’t even think was possible for me. If you plan on getting a tutor here I 100% recommend Alex Leopold. He is very friendly and made studying with him a great experience. The time I spent working with him not only impacted my SAT scores but also gave me great insight on how to move forward into college. I am writing as the father of a HS Junior that’s shown some academic promise - strong in the language arts, but in need of a boost in math & science to garner wish-list collegiate attention, so we reached out to A-List Education. The beginning was not glamorous, as we had a few snags gaining scheduling traction, which was a bit frustrating. However, what ensued, and as any happy story ends, the product is what matters most, and this one was extraordinary. With a bent to avoid hyperbole, I must say that Scott Suzel of A-List stepped up, and selflessly, yet passionately became the hero of this eventual ride, and I cannot wordsmith my way into a just representation of what excellence looks like, both in character form, and quantitatively.

While Scott’s primary focus is LSAT prep, his strength in math and science is also impressive. Scott recognized the rocky scheduling start and made an exception to work with a HS student and inserted himself at a reduced rate that aligned with our original tutor selections. Simply put, he did the right thing, and without being asked.

Scott poured into our daughter’s test prep success and invested in her in ways far beyond the scope of his charge. While the details of the initiative are not important, Scott also recognized our daughter’s passion for a community service project – one for which he had a shared interest and provided a breadth of tangible resources to assist her; he had zero obligation, yet did so with a smile, humility, and a selfless willingness.

In the end, the result was an organic 34 composite score on the ACT; the outcome, however, was a look into the profile of human excellence, the motivation to pour into another, and the attitude that goes along with it that is Scott Suzel.

I think you good sir for your skill, effort, and kindness. Most of all, I am grateful for the lessons my young daughter observed in your character – we set about to boost a math score, and got just that, along with so much more. Well done, sir!

So glad both of my daughters were able to prep with A-List!
