Academic English Now (AEN) is a brilliant platform. As a mid-career academic (tenured associate professor), I wholeheartedly recommend this platform to all PhD students, beginning scholars and even mid-range academics like myself. The materials are professional, and the platform is helpful and user-friendly. Thanks to AEN, I have rediscovered the joy of writing, and this year, for the first time in my lifetime, instead of struggling with publications, I am looking at 10 papers and coauthoring a book by a very reputable publisher. Thanks, AEN. This is by far the best investment I have ever made.

You may not believe that I had a busy work schedule before and during the Lunar New Year.
Still, I used my commute time to read and was tempted to send a message about small wins to this lovely community after watching Module 9 Lectures 1-4 on 27/1/2025 as recommended by @Hayden Godfrey … They were fantastic! I finally understood epistemology, interpretivism, and constructivism—concepts I hadn’t learned as clearly as from your videos. Thank you @Hayden Godfrey
I didn’t write to the community earlier because I needed to keep reading and watching while also taking care of my work, family, and kids, along with doing house chores to welcome the New Year. There were the usual rituals, like buying new clothes for the teenagers (a headache, as they took longer time than I bought for myself!).
I woke up early during the New Year to read and write, and today, on the fifth day of the New Year, I finished modifying the introduction, prepared literature outlines, and completed watching Module 8 Lectures 1-4. Thanks @Marek Kiczkowiak , for your excellent videos; you helped solve all my puzzles and provided clear guidelines for me to keep moving forward.
It is a meaningful New Year! In the past, I may not have done much during the festivities, but now I prioritize reading and writing, even though they still come second to my family. I feel great that I can carve out time for my intellectual growth. I've learned to work with more ease and determination.

Joining the AEN's Published Researcher community is my biggest financial investment thus far in my PhD journey, but it has been worth every dollar. I can easily access resources such as recorded lessons, live coaching calls, or other members' inputs. I also stay motivated by regularly checking in to track my progress and reflect on my efforts. Since joining, my writing productivity has increased significantly. Thanks to AEN, I now have a clear path to successfully completing and defending my PhD dissertation.

Before I joined this community, I was struggling a lot with the academic writing process. My papers kept getting rejected, and I felt this constant mix of insecurity and burnout, even though I loved my field - psychology and psychoanalysis. I felt like I was doing "something" important, but I wasn't quite sure "what". That uncertainty felt very unhealthy.

3. Finding my people
I started to meet other researchers who totally understood the struggle of trying to write consistently and well. I wasn't alone anymore.

4. Building a writing routine
I created a sustainable writing habit by watching lectures, studying, learning, and working with perfect worksheets focused on each part of each article type. I feel like I have made incredible progress. But this process takes time, of course. So be patient with yourself.

My mindset has changed. I used to be goal-oriented and focused on getting a study published. Now I understand that writing is a meaningful journey that needs order, principles, and feedback. Using the templates and worksheets of the scholarly community is like having a GPS for academic writing. Each step feels interesting and safe.

Without a doubt, this has been the best investment I have made in my professional development. I recommend it to any researcher feeling stuck.These days, writing doesn't stress me. I actually enjoy it😄.

This program has saved me not just once but twice! Unfortunately, schools just throw you to the wind in many cases. Marek and his highly professional staff teach you what schools SHOULD teach you. Because of Marek, I am published in a respected peer review journal AND I completed my degree in Egyptology. His program is so easy to follow and you will watch your dissertation or your research come together in ways you never thought possible. I don't usually write reviews (no time) , but Marek and his team are truly amazing. Sure, it’s hard work, but you get tons of support throughout, and the content is broken down step-by-step, which makes it super manageable. It covers everything you could imagine and more. It's not just about writing—there's so much on mindset, planning, using AI effectively, making professional contacts, and even presenting your work. It's a complete guide to academic success, and I couldn't recommend it more if you're serious about improving your academic writing skills.

I had been searching for something like ‘Academic English Now’ for years and finally found it in 2023. I've been a member for a year now, and there's no doubt that it has helped me improve my English writing!

The service includes being assigned a coach and having the opportunity to join several 1-hour calls each week, where you can ask questions and discuss matters related to academic writing in English. Additionally, there are so-called master classes where invited speakers discuss specific themes, such as what an editor looks for in submitted articles. There are also numerous videos covering ‘how-to’ aspects of writing, such as productivity tips, overcoming procrastination, and writing a discussion section in a paper. While these topics aren't necessarily new and can be found in other guidebooks for students, the great thing is that they are presented in a more personal way, which serves as a common frame of reference for the weekly calls.
You also have the option to send written text to your coach, who will correct it and explain the corrections. That part was absolutely the best for me, and my coach was great (perhaps a bit too busy, though).

A community of students surrounds AEN. As a faculty member who needed to improve my writing in English, I found many of the discussions in the calls a bit basic, but I understand that these discussions might have been very helpful for the many PhD students. My interests were more focused on the English language side. I had also hoped for a more critical approach and less of an uncritical, anglocentric/'international' perspective. The members come from all over the world, which is absolutely great. Unfortunately, this was almost never reflected in the discussions.

A small note, but important to me, is that the ownership behind AEN is unclear, as is how the coaches are selected or what their qualifications are. AEN is also a very young company, which comes with its own set of advantages and disadvantages. The advantages include the team's enthusiasm, the ability to suggest ideas, and the sense that ‘we are in this together.’ The disadvantages are that things don't always run as smoothly as they could, AEN tries to cover all academic disciplines (which is, of course, impossible) and thus lands in a very general middle, and that the balance between the English language part and the academic writing part hasn't quite found its optimal equilibrium.
