Risky.
Spent £1,430 on a very expensive item, made contact with Scan prior to buying to make sure the item was going to be safely delivered to the address I supplied, as I am disabled and am unable to go searching for a delivery dumped in a random place in our building. (block of flats)
‘Scan’ promised a code (or 'pin', I forget which) to give to the driver - so he needs to make contact with me for the code, it was also stated that the item cannot be left in a 'safe' place, it will only be delivered to the address I supplied, so filled with confidence I placed my order !
Delivery day . . . Scan didn't supply a code, driver doesn’t bother ringing the intercom or my door bell, no signature or code is asked for as there is no contact at all . . . the item is dumped on the floor down on the the ground floor, I am on the 2nd floor I am unable to get down to the ground floor without help . . . so I’m now hoping the local kids don’t just walk in a take it (this happens all the time).
DPD also put in their "we've delivered it" email that the "parcel has been delivered and received by [porter bloke]" . . this apparently is a complete lie from DPD as I contacted the porter and he said not only had he not received anything, but wasn't even in the building.
So, thanks DPD and thanks Scan, £1430 might not be much to you, you are both big companies, but to most people it’s a small fortune. I am now trying to contact local taxi cab firms to see if I can get someone to drive up to where I live and go searching for the item, and hopefully do what DPD are unwilling to do and deliver it to the address supplied.
All the best, an ex-customer.

EDIT - reply to SCAN's response (below)
>>”We have been using our delivery partner, DPD, for a considerable time because of their reliable and secure service.”
Sure, lol, couriers dump your items on the floor of receptions, leave them in doorways or on random shelves somewhere in a block of flats, they then write “handed to the customer” or “signed by the porter” (etc) on the delivery note . . . and you log this as another “reliable and secure” delivery, they literally do this all the time, if I hadn’t complained then this delivery would be logged by you as another “reliable and secure” that was handed to a porter (a porter who wasn’t even in the building).
>>“We have investigated the matter and reviewed your contact with our customer service team.”
Don’t be ridiculous, you didn’t, you just phoned DPD up and asked them to redeliver. There was no ‘investigation’.
>>“We have since been informed by DPD that the driver followed these instructions, and your parcel was delivered to you a short while ago.”
Sure, he slammed on the door, literally rattling the hinges ! Really not very happy he had to return, he was visibly annoyed, I asked why he’d dumped the item elsewhere with the first delivery, told me he handed to the porter (not true), I asked why not deliver it to the supplied address, to the actual customer, he just kept going on about how he left it with the porter and that's all he has to do, told him to simply deliver it to the bloody customer, he told me to ‘watch my language’ and threatened to take away the item and return it to the sender.
>>>”For future orders, we offer a DPD pin delivery service, which can provide an added layer of security for deliveries like this.”
Sure, but that’s what you said with this order, and once you had my order, and my money, you lost all interest in supplying a PIN / code.
As for “future orders”, are you being serious ? Lol.
. . . . .
Also ! Noticed your sneaky tactic of making me supply details to verify my review, otherwise it will be removed, you clearly know I am a customer and the details, but you still make me go through the process of having to verify my review.
