Lacking in Transparency and Equity
I have been a long time babysitter through Wyndy (2022-Present), however they are not a very transparent company and their customer support truly needs some work. As a babysitter going through a third party, it’s important that information is disclosed regarding payments, safety, and expectations.
This app is geared towards college students on the sitter side, so there’s also a NEED for transparency to ensure you’re not taking advantage of young people. So, why are there numerous complaints from people about this hidden monthly fee and struggles to cancel it? Why, when I reached out about the need for transparency around surveillance technology in homes, was I met with defensiveness? Why, before *asking ME* if I received duplicate payments did I get an email stating that they “ know that you got the payment three times for your last job. You can keep these payments, however, there will be a negative credit added to your account for your next jobs since we aren't able to get the funds back.” Yet, when emailed about their cancellation policy that is supposed to credit money to the sitter, my numerous emails went unanswered until I just gave up.
This company is reaction based. Their interface glitches so often that I have to include my email in my bio to allow parents to contact me. They are not transparent about how much money they take from sitters, or parents. I spoke with a mom who hired me, she sets her rate to pay me at $30/hr, each listing is costing her $20 to put out as well. I received from Wyndy $26/hr.
A fee taken out is not unusual however the lack of clarity and ability to see how the fees are calculated is unusual. For example, with a competitor sitting app Bambino, we set our rate and it clearly shows how much they charge the parent. With Wyndy, it seems as though you’re taking money out of both ends AND charging sitters a fee of $17-$19/ month to have their profile active. They say “we take a small fee” in the fine print… but how much is a “small fee”?

Wyndy (found not in the app, but in their help desk): Wyndy is free to download and has a 30 day free trial, followed by a $191.88 annual subscription. When you create a job, you will select an hourly rate you’d like to pay for the job. Before the job is posted, Wyndy deducts a portion of this hourly rate as a platform fee, then displays the resulting rate to sitters as the rate they will be paid for the job, so they understand how much they’ll earn before expressing interest in a job.
Once your job is complete, you may choose to add a bonus if the sitter provided a magical experience! Finally, the total price of the job plus a service fee is charged to the credit or debit card that is saved in your profile. If you are a subscribed parent, platform fees are waived. Sitters are paid based on the hourly rate displayed to them when accepting a job and keep 100% of all bonuses.
To conclude my point, I just want to say that while I have experienced excellent families to sit for and I appreciate the job board, I think this company would benefit greatly from being more transparent and also having a minimum payment amount. There’s no reason that parents should be allowed to only pay sitters $9, $11, & $14 in this economy for such a skilled job. You need to be first aid/cpr certified, undergo yearly background checks, and commute to each individual home. The minimum salary for a sitter should be fixed at $20, to ensure that these listings are equitable.

Will not allow you to cancel subscription and will continue to charge your credit card. I see it is an ongoing issue with others too. I have followed all the proper steps in app and on site, messaged, messaged through app and even called a number that was listed online. They will not cancel subscription. They email saying that they are working on it.
Do Your Research!
Based on my experience, the communication I received felt dismissive and unprofessional, which raised concerns for me about how candidates are treated.
I have been a certified childcare professional for over a decade, with strong references who consistently speak to the quality of care I provide. After relocating, I decided to explore working with an agency to connect with families, as I have had positive experiences with other agencies in the past. Unfortunately, my experience with Wyndy was disappointing.
Communication with their texting representative felt unprofessional and lacked the level of courtesy and empathy I would expect from a childcare-focused organization. During the initial stages, the process seemed smooth and they appeared interested in getting to know me. However, after I submitted my introduction video, communication stopped, and I did not receive further responses to my messages or emails.
Based on this experience, I would encourage others, especially people of color, who are considering this agency to carefully evaluate whether it is the right fit for them. In my case, the process felt inconsistent and left me without clarity or follow-up.

Don't waste your money as a sitter. This place is a complete scam. Every single one of the job opportunities that came up was through care.com. The app had me choose whether I as interested or not in the job, and when I chose "interested," it said that Wyndy would send me a text regarding the job if I was a "good fit" or not. When I got the text, each link took me to the care.com listing and would make me then sign up to be a sitter through care.com instead. I am so mad I spent money on this trash.

I was going through the process of signing up for Wyndy.com when I came to the part they wanted my social security number. I deleted the page and when I looked on my credit card they charged me 19.00 and I don’t have an account so there is no way to go in and stop it. I have written them three times and I wrote Better Business Bureau. Next I will contact my credit card. Buyer Beware of this disreputable company!!!!!!!!!!

I really appreciate the Wyndy sitters being there when I need them. Majority of the sitters I have had in my home were great! Played with the kids and were very responsive. I have had a few to show up late but as long as there is communication I’m understanding. I only had one sitter who I had to call because she was a no show. When I did contact her, her boyfriend answered the phone and said she forgot she was supposed to be babysitting. The Wyndy sitter does give you the option to choose your sitter which is awesome!!!!
Flexible sitting option
Wyndy has been a great way to get safe, predictable child sitting. As a divorced dad with an inflexible work schedule, I’m not able to get my son to school during the week. I’m able to lean on Wyndy to help me out on those mornings. My son has someone to keep an eye on him and drive him to school.

Only con to me is how much they take out of the sitters money for the app and not background checking parents for sitters to feel safe. But overall good experience.
