I was slightly disappointed with my recent experience at the Preston store. I had previously been to the shop with my camera to see how much I could have if I was going to use it as part exchange for a video camera. The staff member completed his checks and wrote down the sum of £319.00 yet when I came to part exchange the member of staff would only give me £195.00 after his checks. I just wanted to note that the first offer should stand as this should have been completed accurately and there should not have been a sudden change only a few days later.

Thank you for leaving a review. We’re sorry you feel slightly disappointed with your recent experience.
We have spoken to the Preston store regarding this visit, it seems that on your first visit to the store you requested a Part Exchange quote but did not actually have your equipment with you to be checked by a member of the team. We established that you had a Panasonic Lumix G80 & G 12-60mm F3.5/5.6 Vario Asph Power OIS lens, a Part Exchange price was given to you based on the fact that the equipment was in working order and in good condition (Grade C). We did explain that this price was subject to inspection and may go up you down depending on the outcome of inspecting your equipment.
Your review suggests that we reduced the amount offered on all the items offered to us, this is not the case.
When you returned a few days later, whilst examining your equipment, we found the Panasonic G 12-60mm F3.5/5.6 Vario Asph Power OIS lens was contaminated with moisture and had signs of fungus growing on the lens elements. This meant that we were unable to take the lens in Part Exchange, as a result the quote was amended as we could only accept the Panasonic G80 body only. This is the reason the amount offered changed, had the equipment been in the condition you stated in our first conversation we would have gladly paid you the higher price.
We note that you Part Exchanged your Panasonic G80 towards a Canon Legria HF G70. We do hope you enjoy using your new camcorder.

Battery Grip for D7100 - Excellent!
I ordered a used battery grip for my Nikon D7100 from Wilkinson cameras for a price that was very fair. The item was in excellent condition, with its original box, documentation and pouch; it even had an original Nikon battery inside it! A great purchase. It has made holding the camera in landscape and portrait orientation so much easier. Thank you!

Massive Disappointment (Liverpool Store)
I have been a customer of Wilkinson Cameras for over 20 years, dealing with the stores in Preston, Blackburn (now defunct), Bury (also now defunct) and Burnley and always with good experiences / excellent customer care. So, when looking for a new mirrorless camera and lenses, I had no hesitation in going to Wilkinson's. As I was trading in an old camera and wanted to try the new camera and lenses before I bought, I went to the Liverpool store - this being the only one with all 3 items in stock.
20 years of excellence and loyalty destroyed in 15 minutes dealing with the Liverpool store manager.
With every previous purchase, every store went out of their way to offer help, guidance and something extra (free memory card / half price spare battery / free camera bag / ...). The purchase in Liverpool was the biggest cash value of all and told there was nothing they can offer.
I asked for a bit of guidance with the camera functions etc. and was told "it's just like any other Canon camera you've had" - not true : even Canon say there are a lot of functional & setting differences between old EOS cameras and the Mirrorless models.
Having spent in excess of £3500, they wouldn't even give me a 10p carrier bag without paying for it.
I am now an ex-Wilkinson Camera customer looking for an alternative photographic retailer.

I am sorry to hear that you were disappointed with our decision to charge you 10p for a shopping bag, despite your 20 years of great service. I understand that this may seem like a minor issue, but it is important to note that since May 2021, all retailers have been required to charge a minimum of 10 pence for a carrier bag. Failure to comply with these laws can result in substantial fines.
You may be aware that supermarkets have been enforcing this law since 2015, with most bags costing more than 10p (for instance, Tesco charges 60p per plastic bag). I apologise if our staff did not inform you of this, but we are required to charge for bags, irrespective of the amount spent by the customer.
However, I am pleased to inform you that all the proceeds from this mandatory bag charge are donated to our annual charity, which this year is the North West Air Ambulance. I hope that this will alleviate your concerns, and I will speak to our staff to ensure that they are regularly informing all customers of this.
I understand that you travelled to our flagship Liverpool store to ensure that all the necessary stock was in place. Please note that we can arrange to move stock to a more convenient location for you or even ship it directly to you.
Having spoken with the store, it seems that your review doesn't accurately reflect the time that was spent with you talking you through the camera and its functions, including discussions about autofocus and GPS and the options for this.
With regards to free items due to the value of the spend, we do our utmost to remain competitive with other leading photographic equipment suppliers and promotions at the time of purchase do vary. You have benefitted from the Free 3-Year Warranty offer which is in place currently and was applied to your camera and lenses, worth £260.
It may be that on previous vists you have benefitted from a half-price battery or memory card - promotions do change reguarly.

Excellent Lens - Pristine
I had been looking for ages for a Nikon 70-300mm AF-S VR Zoom lens, for my D90. I have had this camera for years, and barely had it out the box. As you are now unable to buy many lenses from new for the D90, I had to resort to secondhand. I found one secondhand on Wilkinson Cameras website. I opted for the A+ Camera grade lens, as I wanted it to be as unused as possible. I was not disappointed. It arrived really quickly, excellently packaged and in pristine condition. This lens could not be any better if it was brand new. Being A+ grade it is as mint as you can get. Tried it out this morning, and I am over the moon with this lens. Really pleased, wouldn't hesitate to recommend and if I need anything else I will jump straight to this website. Many thanks.
