I have Just set up my Crown Berkey and it was disappointing that something that should have been straight forward, took me all morning.

The finishing of both Black Berkey Filters was very poor.
The tread on the spigot had a seam either side which prevented the priming pump connection from going on straight with the potential for cross threading. I spent a lot of time with box cutter removing these seams from both filters so that I could complete the priming process.
That worked for one filter! The second filter would neither Prime nor purge. After much effort and wasted time, it was discovered that the spigot was entirely blocked off (internally) and had to be cleared manually with a drill bit to extract some white plastic material, after which I was able to prime the filter.
On the subject of the spigot, the end of it was not flush and, there being no rubber washer in the seperate priming kit, did not make a good seal thus extending priming time.

Of the separately purchased priming kit, while the idea is sound, the design and function is poor and to my mind not worth the money. In the end I successfully primed using a Primo Rechargeable Water Dispenser (fits 3 & 5 Gallon water bottles). I note that I did not try and this device would likely not be efficient the with purging process.

Giving the comments provided by other customers I think it is unlikely that I will get much joy from USA Berkey Filters

I purchased a pair of British Berkefeld 7” Ultra Fluoride water filters with ceramic cores from USA Berkey Filters in January but did not begin use until early May 2025. They were used for less than one month before water flow slowed to nearly nothing.

My biggest issue isn’t the product itself—it may perform well with proper care—but rather the complete lack of clear use or maintenance instructions for the ceramic version. There are no warnings about priming, no backflushing guidance, and no specific documentation like there is for other Berkey filters.

When I reached out for support, I explained the issue and even detailed the steps I had taken to troubleshoot (gentle cleaning, backflushing, diluted vinegar soak). Their only response was a 10% discount on a replacement. No deeper troubleshooting, no acknowledgment of the documentation gap.

To be clear, I’m not angry—I’m just disappointed. If a filter fails within a month and there’s no documentation to prevent that from happening, support should step up. Instead, it felt dismissive.

Posting this in hopes that USA Berkey Filters improves transparency and support—and so others don’t go through the same issue.

As many of the reviewers here have said, stay away, their customer service is terrible. We received a shower head that leaked everywhere. I emailed within the 30 day window for an exchange. They then tried to troubleshoot it with me for multiple emails. I didn't feel comfortable "fixing" something I just bought new so I asked to return it. They then said I was outside the 30 day window.

I feel like they purposefully pushed me outside this window so they didn't have to exchange the product. Don't buy from this company.

On their website, there is an image of the Sports Berkey Water Bottle with an authentic logo on it. When it arrived, the water bottle was lacking the logo. Customer service could care less. No one acknowledged it was the company’s fault.

It took over 1 hour to get clarity about the return policy and instructions. I was advised that a return would not get processed unless I agree to a 15% restocking fee and pay the return shipping. Plus the product has to be in” new and resellable condition”. Sure, I understand that criteria. However, the bottle arrived in a mildly damaged box because it was shipped in a plastic bag without bubble wrap. Long story short, do not waste your time with this company! It is a rarity that someone answers the phone. I ended up texting them. I will be pleasantly surprised to get a refund minus the 15% restocking fee. Who knows how much the return shipping will be? Yet, I will take the financial loss to get this bottle out of my life.

Shady business with bad customer service. Bought a shower filter which was likely used as it wasn't sealed. As I read the instructions, turns out I can't use the filter on my plumbing system. This was NOT listed on the website. The company was going to charge me a restocking fee (if the filter was unused which is questionable in the state I received it) and a return shipping fee.

Don't buy here. There are plenty of other more reputable companies from which to buy Berkey Water Filters.

They will take your money no problem but good luck getting a refund if they tell you they can't ship to your State (which btw they won't ship to CA ). They won't lift a finger to help you out past taking your money. The exchange was highly unprofessional on so many levels (they don't pick up the phone and will contradict themselves: on the one hand promising a refund followed by 'but there's no guarantees').

I purchased the Stainless Steel Tru-View Water Spigot (TVWS-SS) on usaberkeyfilters and the item does not work as advertised. I filled out a form to return the item and was given several different phone numbers to call. After a lengthy process I was told I would only get a 50% refund and would have to pay shipping, which is effectively not a refund at all.
