I was given a subscription to a Transunion service as the result of being involved in a data breach. Signing up to Transunion, however, has been a nightmare - not once has the system let me log in without calling them, then they said I couldn't upload documents but need to mail them. They do not operate any email accounts to contact them - it is phone or regular mail only. It could not be less straightforward or more difficult - I would never use Transunion if I wasn't gifted the membership.

There is a derogatory creditor showing on my account that is not associated with me. I must have talked with 20 people who all just transferring me to one another because the website to file a dispute wasn't working. I told them that this derogatory creditor is not showing up on my Equifax report and didn't show up on my credit report when I was applying and approved for my mortgage. This has caused a lot of distress for me.
I went from 750 credit rating with Equifax, but with TransUnion it says I am 650. Nobody seems interested in helping me and I haven't heard anything back after filing a dispute.

TransUnion is seriously a bad credit bureau. Do not use them.
TransUnion is seriously a tarnished credit bureau that exploits its customers through its website. I have had various issues with them dating back to 2021. They have an absolutely unacceptable website that does not work and is all around horrid. Further, they take your credit card details and start charging monthly for a service you never subscribed to. It is also hard to cancel this service once your subscribed. They basically lock you out of the website and none of their password recovery methods work. I have tried many times.
In fact the only way I cancelled their payment plan before by calling them. Even then I had to wait a long time to talk to someone and when I did it was hard to even get my point across.
I do not recommend Transunion at all. If this company wasn't funded by the gouverment it would be absolutely unacceptable.
I am switching to another credit bureau due to all these problems.

Extremely frustrating buggy site, unaccessible phone lines and terribly inefficient customer service that throws you around, from dept to another in an endless loop until you give up. I can't believe this company controls our credit...
Sad excuse of a company
I had an absolutely atrocious customer experience with TransUnion.
I had an extremely simple problem that should have taken 5 minutes to solve. TransUnion has a dysfunctional website that suspended my account each time I attempted to log in with my legitimate credentials.
I called TransUnion and dealt with at least 10 of the most disinterested and least helpful employees I have spoken to in my life. Not only did they not help matters whatsoever, they could not have cared less and repeatedly hung up on me.
This company has an important function that it totally lacks the competence to deal with. They deserve to go bankrupt.

I usually don't like to write a review but this time I felt I should speak out, to share my experience.
I would give -5 rating if I could.
I just registered my account with TransUnion.ca yesterday, ran into issue so I can't sign in.
Of course they don't work on Sunday, so I called in today.
I googled the number 800-508-2597(#1), after waited for 10+ minutes, she told me to call 844-208-7655(#2) because I am in Canada. I called but the number is busy, can't go through.
So I googled TransUnion Canada, called 1-800-663-9980(#3). The lady said she can't help me out, transferred me to the original number I called: 800-508-2597(#1). (another 10+ minutes waiting)
Of course the person there said they can't help out, so he transferred me to 844-208-7655(#2).
I talked to the person at #2 and he said he can't help me out and wanted to transfer me back to#1.
I am pissed off and then I called #3 to cancel my service. The lady said she can't help me out, transferred me to the original number I called: 800-508-2597(#1). (waiting again...)
I talked to the person there to cancel my subscription.
Guess what, boom! Cancellation is done in 3 minutes!!!
When I tried to be their customer and have spent over an hour, but just got pushed around and when I tried not to be their customer, done in 3 minutes!
What a joke! I guess I am not good enough to be their customer...

Quite frankly the worst company to deal with. Long hold times, keep getting moved around to different departments. Their customer service is TERRIBLE. I hope to god nobody have to use this awful company.
They messed up my credit profile with a stranger
They messed up my credit profile with someone else and this affected my credit score. I filed a dispute and after the case was close, I cannot see my credit report in Scotiabank app anymore.
Their customer service is useless and their Indian accents are so strong that I cannot understand.
How come 1 of the 2 biggest credit companies in Canada can be this useless and terrible? I have no idea.
Transunion Customer Service does…
Transunion Customer Service does everything it can to not assist or help you. I only had to update my address as I moved addresses about 8 months ago. OCS department forwards my call to the Credit View department and vice versa but nobody resolves the problem. The wait time is beyond reasonable and their service reps seem utterly incompetent. Nobody seems to know how to resolve the simple problem of updating my address information.
It's a pain even to register a formal complaint against them.
These incompetent people should not be given so much power and should be slapped with a class-action lawsuit.

Agree with all the others, would assign zero stars if I could. Received letter from MacKenzie Investments re: data breach. Tried using activation code provided on their website but the verification questions did not provide me with any options for correct answers, unable to verify my account. Activation code then became unusable. Tried to get through to the dedicated call centre a few times but failed after waiting one hour plus. Today I got through after 35 minutes on hold. Explained I needed to activate my account and customer service reset my password and said they were emailing a new password, no activation code needed (?). Email address was confirmed but no email received and then locked out of account. Tried to reset password on their website, but again, no email received with a temporary password. Now I am locked out of my account and still have no way of activating my account to receive the offered "comprehensive credit monitoring and identity theft insurance at no cost". From other reviews I've read, I'm not sure this service would be any good.
Took me forever
Took me forever. to get them to correct my score. They finally removed what was affecting my score after 13 mths. However it didn't change anything. I was able to identify where the negative mark was coming from as it wasn't on their customer disclosure. My score was 693, now it's 443. From the account summary the only outstanding bill is for 361$. So how did I drop that much. If they have this much control over my life they should be able to have clear and reasonable answers to an effort can be made for whoever needs to fix mistakes.

Along with the rest of the reviews I must say the curstomer service, online access, total experience is horrible. Days of calls, numerous emails, reset attempts and so on and still I can't get no satisfaction. Beyond frustrating. It is unfathomable that a service with such power over credit and personal information operates in such a shoddy unacceptable manner

Transunion has confused me with someone else with the same name. They are so negligent in addressing the problem and yet collect all manner of information. I suspect Transunion to be a front for criminal activities.

I would give them a -0 if I could. They pass judgement on you and treat you like a second class citizen. They discriminate and do all they can to hurt you by taking the word of the big companies whom their pay check comes from. You call in and the associates try to rush you off the phone, treat you like your a number and not a human being. This company is a disgrace to the credit community and fix nothing. They are not here to help you but work against you.

I spent 6 hours today trying to set up my account. And it will take another 30 days, at least. We were given a free 2 year subscription due to a data breach. When I tried to sign up, I coildn’t use my email address as I had had an account in the past. They discovered my home address was also wrong - after living here for 30 years and previously having an account with them. I now have to open a dispute to rectify the home address, which takes 30 days, and then will still have to deal with the email issue! Meanwhile, my identity might be compromised. Yet, my husband called, had the same issue, and they resolved it over the phone - no idea why they could change his home address last week, but no one can do it this week.
This is beyond absurd
This is beyond absurd. How can they hold so much power over so many people's credit scores, and have such atrocious customer service. An hour on hold just to have the line disconnected. What decade is this? Why don't they have a service where you can be called back. This is astonishing....
