Book People Bewertungen 

This review is based on my four years using them.
Spoke to someone in The Book People yesterday.
He said that the bulk of their products went through Hermes distribution centre in Warrington.
I was given a full refund.
It isn’t their fault is the items are stolen by warehouse staff or thrown away by Hermes.
Incidentally I have other parcels that have gone ‘missing’ with Hermes, so I am talking from experience.

Like many others I have always had a really good experience with the book people. But in the last week I have been contacting them on the phone to chase up delivery of my order. I received 1 out of approx 20 or so books. They advised my the rest of the books were in a separate parcel, and gave me a reference number. Hermes website keeps showing that they are still waiting to receive parcel from sender, but book people are saying that they have already sent the parcel. Whilst I would normally trust the book people over Hermes, in this instance each time I call the book people I get given different dates on when the this parcel left the warehouse, which makes me believe it probably never did make it out the warehouse! Cutting a long story short, I have just been advised on the phone today that warehouse is closed, no more deliveries left to ship out. This leaves me in limbo about whether my parcel will actually be received, although it’s looking highly unlikely.

So sad to read of the demise of 'Book People'. Similarly to another reviewer, I wouldn't have been able provide my children with such an array of fantastic books if it hadn't been for the affordable prices & special offers of this company over the years. I was a lone parent of 2 young children & was living on the breadline. The 'Book People' helped to make sure that my children's education didn't suffer.

They also helped many other children as I donated most of their books to the Primary School library once they'd outgrown them.

I hope all the people involved with the company move on to other jobs/experiences & have some luck in their lives. I just want to say 'Thank you!'

Always purchase my books from book people. Usually excellent fast service. Unfortunately due to current conditions, I still haven't received my last order from the middle of February, and despite emails it looks like they won't be arriving. But I never give up hope I know under usual circumstances they would have dealt with my order.

Great products at such an affordable price. Only downside due to covid 19 it took 3 months for my order to arrive. But otherwise couldn't be happier with what I got.

It’s so disheartening to read all these negative reviews about this company. Not only are they in receivership, they’ve had Covid to deal with too. Have we already forgotten to be kind? 😞😞 I received my order today having waited almost 12 weeks for it. Everything is in immaculate condition and although 2 of the 25 items are out of stock, I won’t be chasing them for the £2 they owe me as everything I bought only cost £1 an item and I have received 2 boxes of absolute bargains. I have been a customer for many years and I have always been more than satisfied with their stellar customer service and their brilliant prices. Without them my children certainly wouldn’t have enjoyed all the books they have growing up because, without The Book People, I simply wouldn’t have been able to afford them. If you’re still waiting for your order try a little patience.......it works wonders. Think a little less about yourself and more about the people who have lost their livelihoods!

I placed my last order with Book people on 21 March 2020. It was finally delivered about 10 days ago. Although it took a very long time to arrive, this was very acceptable to me, given the unfortunate situation of the company being in administration as well as the effect of coronavirus. I just knew it would arrive so I did not try and follow up my order. I was very pleased that my order was complete and nothing had run out.

In the time I have been with Book people and placed a number of orders . All arrived in reasonable time. Receiving their regular brochure was always interesting and they usually had a lot of specials.

So in summary i have have a very good experience with Book people and it is so sad that are closing completely soon. Thanks to all the great staff and good luck for the future, you will be greatly missed.

Another one who had ordered in March and just about given up hope until my order arrived today, 3 months later, complete. I will be sad to see them go as have been a customer for 15 years and always had great service.

Like many others placed an order during the last days of March and expected to wait around 7-8 weeks for delivery. Finally had a dispatch email on 9th June so expected the books couple of days later and...nothing

Managed to phone through to customer services today and was told that there has been an issue with tracking items and Hermes for anything that was dispatched between 3rd-12th June

They are in the process of collecting data of everyone this affects and will be emailing those customers with an update...so my wait continues

After almost three months I finally received my parcel yesterday, just a day after I got an email telling me it had been dispatched. Three items were missing, which is not that many considering I ordered around 25 items. My daughter was double happy since she already forgot what she had ordered. I will miss the Book People. Most of the books in our house were bought from them.

Placed an order 24th March and realised it was going to be a long wait for delivery. Hopes raised when, 10 days ago, I received a despatch email. Unfortunately according to Hermes they are still expecting the 2 parcels so hope is now fading of any delivery. Nevertheless I have had many lovely books from the book people over the years, sad to see it’s demise.

Update: further to my query regarding the fact that my 2 parcels are still ‘expected’ by Hermes from 9 June and still no sign 2 and a half weeks later, I have received an email from the book people saying they have raised a query with the courier. Don’t know if this will prove fruitful or not but at least someone is trying to help out. Thank you to the book people customer service.
Last update: received email today from tbp who had raised a query with Hermes. Hermes say not received so must be ‘lost in transit’. Refund is being issued.
I am so disappointed, the book people have always been such good value and these were a surprise for my recently qualified teacher daughter. Of course, like others, I have had items go missing with Hermes before, but this does seem strange that so many of us have had this issue.

Like everyone else, waited since March, but got dispatch email yesterday and received 3 boxes filled to the brim with my order today. All in perfect condition. I had wondered if they would arrive, but true to their word they did. Try not to be too harsh, it's been a tough time and these people are losing their jobs and livelihoods. I like many other people placed an order back in March and had given up hope of it ever arriving. But I rang three weeks ago and the very nice lady there assured me they would not leave the warehouse until all orders had gone out. It sounds as if even during the COVID 19 crisis and the fact they were all losing their jobs they were determined to fulfill all orders. Yesterday I received an email saying my order had been dispatched. Today I have received it and everything ordered was in there so dont give up yet!!

I would give The Book People no stars if I could. I placed a large order in early March and the delivery address was my work place. I logged into the Book People website long before it was closed, and updated the delivery address to my home address, because my office closed due to the COV-19 crisis. I couldn't get hold of any of The Book People staff over the phone. I emailed them twice to confirm the correct address and nobody replied. Nobody informed me about any delays to dispatch, but they did charge me and kept hold of my money for 12 weeks. They then dispatched the order - to the wrong address. I made so many calls and emails to The Book People and to Hermes. Hermes said they would help me under the circumstances and deliver to the correct address. They delayed the parcel for several days, messed me around with various contradictory emails - and then returned the parcel to The Book People. I then phoned the Book People and spoke to a very rude and unhelpful lady, who said they couldn't dispatch the parcel again, but couldn't give me a reason for this. Over a month later and The Book People are still dispatching parcels. I have been a loyal customer for years and spent so much money with The Book People. The whole process was a total waste of my time, and regardless of their future I won't order from The Book People, or any other 'new' company they might create.

Have been waiting since the end of March for my books. Have emailed them twice with no reply. Phoned several times, there is a very weak recorded message which cannot be understood. Have asked for a refund.

So the books finally arrived yesterday, exactly 12 weeks after ordering, however only the books that no one else wanted!!! The three books I really wanted are now apparently out of stock and will be refunded.....we will see. I appreciate the company has gone into administration and staff are doing their best but had I known I would have to wait this long to then find out my books are out of stock, I wouldn't have bothered! Having said that, I will miss the Book People. Good luck to all the staff.

Just got an email from the Book People people to say my order from 21st March has been dispatched in three separate boxes. Will update when I receive them. 3 of my books are unavailable and they stated they shall refund me so will wait and see.

Update- All my books bar 2 arrived today in three different boxes. All in excellent condition.

Ordered the books on March 20th 2020 and they have finally arrived 79 days later! I do realise that they are closing down and trying to fulfill orders with less staff etc, so I have tried to be patient and take heart from the reviewers that say their books have arrived. So for all those still waiting, it does happen. The books are very well packed and in perfect new condition. My book stash was dangerously close to empty so I ordered some online. I joked at the time that these would probably arrive at the same time. The Book People order arrived yesterday and the other order is due tomorrow!

I ordered my books on the 10th of March and had the same experiences as everyone else (no contact, Late delivery) Obviously with them going into administration and the whole Covid 19 situation they were going to take longer. I've recieved all of my books 6 weeks apart. I know its frustrating but just be patient.

Be patient guys, I know it’s a long long wait and I’ve been waiting since 23rd March for my delivery but the items have arrived today (apart from 2 things which they have assured me will be refunded) so be patient, it will arrive eventually!! I wish all the staff who are sadly losing their jobs the very best
