Avoid The FIZZ Hamburg at All Costs
Living at The FIZZ Hamburg has been an incredibly disappointing experience. Despite the premium rent (mine is currently €1045), the service, facilities, and management are far below acceptable standards. Here’s why you should stay far away from this place:
1. Dirty and Unkempt Hallways: The hallways are consistently dirty and poorly maintained.
2. Broken Facilities:
• The elevator button on the first floor has been broken for nearly a year, making accessibility a nightmare.
• One of the main exit/entry doors has been out of order for months without any sign of repair.
3. Unfriendly and Unhelpful Management:
• The house manager is rude and dismissive. When you raise legitimate concerns, you’re told to reconsider living there instead of receiving solutions.
• Complaints are ignored, and emails go unanswered.
4. Security Issues:
• Packages are left unattended in the reception area for extended periods, making theft a frequent issue.
• Room doors can be opened with any card (credit cards, driver’s licenses, etc.), making security practically nonexistent.
5. Dirty Common Areas:
• The community kitchen is filthy and unusable for cooking.
• The communal ovens are disgusting, and there’s no personal oven in the rooms.
6. Broken and Unsafe Rooms:
• They assign you rooms with pre-existing damage, then blame you for it to charge you additional fees.
7. Inadequate Amenities:
• The study room is often not open on time, despite being advertised as a key feature.
• Elevators frequently break down—an issue for anyone living on higher floors.
8. Intrusive Policies:
• Staff randomly enters your room for ventilation and smoke detector checks. You are forced to be present during these inspections, regardless of school or travel commitments. If you can’t attend, they ignore your complaints and demand you cover the costs of these checks—even though they’re included in your contract.
• If you refuse to sign an agreement allowing them entry while you’re absent, you’re essentially penalized.
9. Overpriced and Poor Value:
• For the exorbitant rent, there are far better options in Hamburg with more respectful management, better facilities, and fewer issues.
In summary, The FIZZ Hamburg is overpriced, poorly managed, and unworthy of your money. It’s not safe, clean, or organized, and the management treats residents terribly. Do yourself a favor and look elsewhere for student accommodations.
