Wrapped up in a good service
I had a fantastic experience at Tamatanga Leeds today. The service was excellent, and the food was even better. I ordered the paneer wrap and it was fresh and perfectly made.
A special shout‑out to Melissa and Nikita, who were wonderful hosts throughout. They were attentive, and made the visit feel welcoming. Their service really added to the experience.
Highly recommend visiting — great food and a great Ambience and good messages.

Leeds Team are the best!
Always have a great experience. I've always booked large company meals or group nights out (15+ people) at the leeds restaurant (near The Light) and I can't fault the service, food comes out fast and the team is always on hand. Food is AMAZINGGG!
And if you havent had their cocktails, get to know! Again, big shout out to the Leeds team! ✨

Bought e-gift card 19 November 2025 and requested eGift card on 23 December 2025 but didn't receive this. I've messaged and emailed but no response (no listed telephone number). Called local branch who said would chase head office and call me back. No call and no contact so contacted bank who raised this but they've also said received no response. This isn't the standard of service I expected. This spoiled our family Christmas and New Year arrangements as the voucher was for £90.
Our favourite restaurant in town (Leicester)
I went to Tamatanga in Leicester with my daughter and granddaughter yesterday, and we had the most delicious lunch. I'm surprised at the negative reviews here as this is one of the best Indian restaurants in Leicester, and the staff are lovely and very accommodating. If you visit, try the Papdi chaat and goan fish curry - so tasty!
Crooks
Give this place a wide berth. I cancelled my booking 2 hours in advance of the time and half an hour later they charged my card £50 despite not providing any information about charging if cancelled less than 48 hours in advance on any of their communications or website!. When have you ever seen an Indian restaurant completely full at 8pm?! Absolute crooks, avoid.
Over charged by double on my bill.
I visited the Leeds restaurant and got charged double the cost of my meal. I was told this would be back in my bank after a few days. After several calls to the restaurant and promises of the money being returned.
Still nothing a week later.
I would not recommend this restaurant.
Not worth the rush!!
My husband, son and I visited Tamatanga on a Saturday night. My husband and I really like the food and eat there at least once a month. We were excited to share our experience with our son although we normally visit on a Sunday or week day.
As this was a pre Mother's Day celebration we were looking forward to an enjoyable meal.
Prior to taking our order the waitress immediately said that we had to order all food at the same time. We ordered starters as we wanted to share a selection and see how we went. This arrived individually with no mention of apology and that the rest of our starters would follow shortly.
We asked if we could order more food but that caused an issue with our waitress. She spoke with the in-house manager who abruptly and rudely shared that it was not their policy to allow people to order food at different times. Whilst on this occasion they would honour our order we would have to vacate our table within an hour and a half of our booking. I wanted to leave but my son insisted we stay and try and enjoy the experience. The service didn't improve with choices arriving separately and not up to standard. The cost of the meal was more than £100 and included a discretionary 10% service charge. Needless to say I didn't want to pay that part of the bill but I wasn't footing the bill on this occasion.
Sadly this will be our last visit to Tamatanga. Providing all food at the same time seems to benefit Tamatanga rather than the customer. Going forward I'll happily spend £100 or more somewhere that is happy to serve me, family and friends, food a course at a time and with a smile!!
Great food
Great food. The mains are a generous portion. I had 2 for 1 cocktails. Mine was named "hair of the dog". Very delicious 😋 it was fruity. If you like sweet, strawberry flavoured cocktails, I thoroughly recommend this one. Moat cocktails had mango in which I don't like. So I did struggle to find a cocktail I could order.
Tamatanga Birmingham…
I have visited Tamatanga Birmingham multiple times. However, my recent visit on Saturday evening left me deeply disappointed and frustrated.
I had booked a table for 9:30 PM for myself, my mum, and my aunty, hoping for a relaxed evening with good food. Unfortunately, the experience was anything but enjoyable.
Upon being seated, we were immediately pressured to place our order for starters. While I understand it was a busy Saturday night, just 2 weeks before Christmas, the service was shockingly poor. We ordered 3/4 dishes, but instead of being served together, they arrived one by one within five minutes. This left us awkwardly waiting for the rest of the food to arrive, which was frustrating given that we were sharing.
As soon as we finished one plate, it was hurriedly removed from the table, and the staff insisted we place our main order. It felt incredibly rushed, and we hadn’t even had a chance to properly look at the menu. This pressure to order food escalated by 9:55 PM, I finally placed our order, after being approached at least 8–9 times by the waitress and once by the manager.
When the mains arrived, they too came out one by one, and the entire meal was served by 10:05 PM. We finished eating and by 10:25 PM, the waitress brought the bill and informed us that the table was needed, and that it was time for us to leave.
The entire experience felt like we were being shoved out of the door as quickly as possible. This was particularly disappointing given that we had travelled a long way to enjoy what we hoped would be a pleasant meal. Instead, we were made to feel unwelcome, hurried, and ultimately dissatisfied.
The food, which I usually enjoy, was also not up to its usual standard. If we had been given the opportunity to relax and enjoy our time, we would likely have ordered more food and drinks. Instead, the rushed and impersonal service left a sour taste in our mouths.
I doubt I will be returning to the Birmingham branch; we were better of going Nando's.
Well we booked a table for 12 people
Well we booked a table for 12 people. We were made to rush our food order instead of starting of with our starters we were by a miss mistry to order everything in one go. So when we got our starters the mains came as well so we could not finish our starters. The food was bland the lamb was chewy with no flovour and everything was rushed. There was hardly any space on the table for all the food to be put on so we were all squashed. Considering it was quite no one came to take any plates that were finished with. Very poor service would not recommend it
The moment I sat down
The moment I sat down, I was captivated by the vibrant menu that offered a wide variety of traditional dishes. I started my journey with the mixed platter, which included samosas, pakoras, and seekh kebabs. Each item was cooked to perfection and left me wanting more.
For my main course, I chose the chicken korma. It was creamy and rich, with a hint of sweetness that balanced the spices beautifully. The rice was fluffy, and I couldn’t resist ordering an extra naan to soak up every last bit of the sauce.
The staff was incredibly knowledgeable and enthusiastic about the menu, offering excellent recommendations and pairing suggestions. Dessert, a fragrant mango mousse, was the perfect end to a fantastic meal.
Went to the Nottingham restaurant…
Went to the Nottingham restaurant today. The 2 ladies who welcomed us were lovely however, the lunch deal was mis-leading and the lady who served us was dismissive and clearly didn't want to be there. The advert outside indicated a free drink with a meal for £15. When we came in, the lady showed us what this included, she showed us a; beer and house wine, as well as an option of soft drinks. It then transpired, any of the alcoholic beverages on the list were plus £3/£4. The 'deal' really wasn't a deal. The food was ok, but I've definitely had better, but it wasn't bad by any means. The lady who came over to explain the menu, appeared to have an attitude from the start. Me and my sister did our usual, 'kill 'em with kindness' response. We really made an effort with her, but to no avail. At the end of the meal, when she took our drinks. I asked if she could leave mine, as I was still drinking it. She proceeded to lift it to the light to check, and harshly put it back on the table. Me and my sister just looked at each other. Finally, a gentleman came over with the bill, explaining the service charge was optional. Needless to say, we asked for this to be removed. 1st visit, but I wouldn't return. Sorry
What an expedience, from start to finish…
What an expedience, from start to finish I would just like to thank Anna for her Hospitality and the food is spot on 10/10
Yummy
Yummy! I have visited the nottingham branch many times and also once at the Birmingham one. Both offer the same menu, the same excellent service and totally yummy meals. My favourite is the butter chicken and chilli cheese naan, well done guys!
