My husband booked a lunch here
He doesn’t like fish so we thought we’d go slightly earlier and check it out
Upon arrival it was suggested we changed to the garden area as it had a different menu showed us a table which was perfect all booked
On our return to have the lunch we were told by a different member of staff NO you can’t have that table ( yes it was said exactly like that)
We told her we’d been in earlier and it was booked No was her response you can’t have that table
We decided to leave as we were leaving we saw the original man who then said he’d sort it out with her
We still left
Have sent them emails saying our lunch was ruined by their staff the response was if your passing pop in a see a staff member for a free drink

Fantastic evening!
I feel compelled to share our recent experience, as it certainly warrants the 5 Star rating I have given.
My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed a light supper and were later joined by two friends. Unfortunately, due to work commitments, they arrived slightly later than planned and sadly the kitchen had stopped taking orders. Our truly excellent waitress Leia, understood the situation perfectly and without any fuss or negativity, quietly disappeared, returning in ten minutes with selection of lovely cooked starters.
We have enjoyed many great meals in The Stanwell and have always been looked after superbly by the fantastic staff and Leia is certainly a brilliant addition.

Not stayed at the hotel but had 2 meals in the Orangery. Last May had the mussels, delicious and generous serving. This visit I had wild mushrooms and poached egg on sourdough followed by sea bass fillets. No complaints, attentive staff and felt quite comfortable as a solo diner.

Offered 2 courses £26, 3 courses £32. For those prices expected to get a nice meal. The steak was very small and not tasty, one of the group sent the sole back as it was rubbery. For desert one of the group asked for sorbet, she was given one scoop of sorbet. Very pricey for poor quality food.

Wonderful lunch today in fabulous surroundings, even the fresh flowers on our table matched the decor. The food was delightful and they managed to cater for my dietary needs ensuring that I felt spoilt, the staff were attentive but not intrusive and as the sun came out, the garden looks spectacular. I can’t wait to go back.

It's a nice hotel with a reasonable restaurant. But the payment arrangements for Christmas Lunch are pretty poor and they don't like being challenged. Suggest one never pays them except when on the premise.

Birthday treat for my wife. Food was amazing. Fish Board and Crab sandwich. Beautifully presented, lovely variety of tastes. Exquisite dishes and great service. Will be going again!

We finally managed to spend a gift voucher at the Stanwell. This was after obvious delays due to covid. The Stanwell had changed hands in that time but they still honoured the voucher. We had afternoon tea and it was absolutely lovely. Very nice and friendly staff who were extremely helpful. All in all a very good experience. Thank you!

Excellent, helpfull, if a little quirky, boutique hotel. Lots of weddings at weekends.
