After sales follow up abysmal
I bought a 2016 VW California from Spinney, flintshire in mid may. From day 1 there was an exhaust fume smell entering the cabin on engine start up and particularly strong under the nsf wheel arch. After about 300km the engine light came on and shortly afterwards the abs and tyre pressure lights. Reported for resolution within 2 weeks from purchase and delivered back into Spinney custody within 3 weeks. This is well within the timescales of the 2015 consumer rights act and so i expected a timely and efficient resolution of the problems with Spinney choice whether they would seek warranty compensation or not. After an agreed return to me within 10 days, now more then three weeks on, it seems investigations have not been done, its impossible to get an update and a formal e-mail to to the service manager, Charlotte has not been responded to following three business days. The issue of the smell has ample info online in respect to it being a common issue with WV diesel engines and having a relatively simple fix (egr leaks). Spinney have tried to get warranty involved for the ABS sensor but zero update. The almost structural lack of feedback, response and inaction is impressive, unacceptable and in my case seems to be becoming non compliant with the law. Do not go to these people with your hard earned cash. After sales care is at best a total joke.

We acknowledge that you reported the concerns with your Volkswagen California promptly after purchase and entrusted us with investigating and resolving them. We also recognise that our communication throughout this process has fallen below the standard we aim to deliver, and for that, we offer our sincere apologies.
To provide some context, your vehicle is currently with our independent repair partner, Jubilee, where repairs to the wheel bearing and ABS sensors are being undertaken. During the warranty claim process, MB&G requested further technical information to support the claim. This information was submitted promptly, and the claim was approved on Wednesday, at which point Jubilee received immediate authorisation to proceed with the repairs.
When you visited our branch yesterday, we contacted Jubilee while you were with us in an effort to obtain an update; however, our call went to voicemail. We understand that you subsequently visited Jubilee directly and were advised that they are currently experiencing staffing shortages, which have delayed your vehicle's return to the workshop despite the necessary authorisation being in place.
Although we have been actively pursuing updates on your behalf, Jubilee operates as an independent repairer and we are unable to influence their workshop scheduling or repair timescales. However, we fully accept that this should not have affected the level of communication you received from us, and we acknowledge that we could have kept you better informed throughout the process.
Following your visit, we contacted Jubilee again to emphasise the urgency of your repair, requested that your vehicle be prioritised wherever possible, and asked that all future correspondence regarding your vehicle is communicated directly to us so that we can provide you with timely and accurate updates.
For clarity, we would also like to note that, in addition to the warranty-related repairs, your vehicle requires the replacement of a shock absorber and a wheel alignment following damage sustained after striking a pothole. These repairs are separate from the warranty claim currently being processed.
We appreciate the constructive conversation we had with you during your visit and your acknowledgement of our efforts to progress the repairs. Please be assured that we remain committed to seeing this matter through to a satisfactory conclusion and returning your vehicle as soon as the outstanding work has been completed.

Sadly the van interior was not very clean which I did mention on handover.
On closer inspection there was lots of black dog hair everywhere including inside the fridge. Not nice and quite disappointing as our last van from Spinney was immaculate.

Parts Delight
I ordered two awning poles for an awning originally supplied by Spinney Deeside back in February, I have still not had the parts. Every time I call I get promised they will chase them up and call me back but nothing.
I was once told that they were coming from somewhere in Eastern Europe and were on their way to Holland and will be there in a few days. Nothing, very, very poor service.
I am delighted to update my unfavourable review regarding my parts problem.
I collected my poles this morning and the response from Spinney Deeside couldn't have been better it seems that they pulled out all the stops to get the parts for me and were very apologetic for the delay in fulfilling my order Five Stars

Sadly though when buying a motor home you will need to check everything.
We were promised 1 years breakdown with our £65k motor home only to find out it didn’t have it. Then after sales never resolved the issue.

First class service
Have visited spinney for over 15years. Finally bought our second caravan. The service is always first class. They always have time to answer any questions you may have. Their stock is first class. I would like to single out Ray Bedows. We have tortured him for years tyre kicking but he always had time to say hello. He did us a great deal on our new van. Thanks Ray & all the team at Spinney.

To be honest the sales people are not pushy, very helpful if needed and went out of their way to be helpful. The chap behind the accessory counter was so helpful we wouldn’t have had a clue, but he was very knowledgable chatty even gave us a cup of tea

Very positive experience
All the team at Spinney at Queensferry were very helpful, from Steve who dealt with the purchase and all the paperwork smoothly, and Clive whose handover was very helpful and thorough. I was helped with hitching the caravan and I left feeling very satisfied and excited about owning my new Alpine 4.

Good level of stock available to view and compare, staff were excellent, dealt with Ray who took all our enquiry questions and eventually the sale, very knowledgeable and informative. Whole experience was great from first enquiry right through to handover, which again was dealt with expertly. Would highly recommend.

Purchased a brand new caravan march 2025.£55000 . Due to sudden passing of my wife..and at the time of first service.asked the possibility of buying back.as was no further use to me .offered £20000 less.have now sold to independent caravan dealer for a lot more.
