We stayed at Ramscombe in West Bagborough for seven nights in June, and unfortunately our experience fell well below our expectations.

From the moment we arrived, it was clear that the property had not been cleaned to an acceptable standard. We found hairs on the bedding, the toilets were dirty, and there were several broken fixtures and fittings throughout the house. Overall, the property felt tired, neglected, and in need of significant maintenance and a thorough refresh.

The outside areas were equally disappointing. They were dirty, unswept, and lacked the level of care you would expect from a holiday property of this standard.

One of the biggest disappointments was discovering that the bifold doors leading to the swimming pool were broken and could not be opened. When we contacted the owner, we were told that they had already been broken for around three weeks before our stay. We were never informed of this in advance, despite it being a significant issue that affected our enjoyment of the property. Had we known beforehand, we would have been able to make an informed decision about whether to proceed with our booking.

To make matters worse, the house manager was rude, dismissive, and extremely unhelpful when we raised our concerns. Rather than feeling valued as guests, we felt that our legitimate complaints were treated as an inconvenience.

Overall, we were very disappointed. The property has great potential and is in a lovely location, but it is clearly in need of investment, better maintenance, and much higher standards of cleanliness and customer service. Based on our experience, we would not return or recommend it in its current condition.

It’s a lovely old house, in the countryside. We really enjoyed a long weekend with a hen group here. The rooms were all very comfy and there’s lots of living space, plus the hot tub and huge gardens. We’ll definitely be back!

We spent a wonderful weekend on the Island. There were three generations ranging in age from 8 to 80. From our greeting on Friday and the handing over of the keys for the two boats till Monday when we returned the keys and boats, everything was catered for.

We stayed on one of the super-hot weekends in July and first task was to cool the house and especially the bedrooms. There was a cooling breeze, and every room had a fan, so we were quickly able to drop the temperature. However, we spent most of the weekend outdoors. There are groups of loungers in various places and hammocks so we could always find something in the shade. There are two rows of picnic tables, one under the trees for family dining and another row closer to the house – breakfast and games. There’s even an undercover gazebo by the Wonky Bar to retreat to for drinks and chats.

Add in a hot tub, checked daily and an outside kitchen and barbecue and this property really has everything. Loads of outdoor crockery and glasses (so no breakages) and then masses of indoor crockery, cutlery, pots, pans, huge serving dishes and even a pizza over. This house lacks nothing.

The only time we spent indoors was when we made use of the amazing games rooms, full of table games, darts and board games. Something for everyone. And we together enjoyed watching England beat Norway on the huge television screen. The beautiful dining room was untouched.

There really was no reason to leave the island apart from miscalculations on the milk front but we did visit Hardwick Watersports and most of the party had a thrilling do’nut ride – twice round the lake.

We have done these big family times together before and this one did not disappoint.

We stayed at Holemoor Stables and, overall, the property itself was lovely. We had a great holiday and enjoyed our time there.

Unfortunately, our departure experience overshadowed what had otherwise been a very positive stay.

The advertised check-out time was 10:00 am. However, at around 9:30 am, the cleaning team entered the property while my family and I were still inside. They did not knock on the door or contact us beforehand. They walked straight into the kitchen and began cleaning while we were still packing our belongings.

With 18 guests staying at the property, this created unnecessary stress and made us feel that our privacy was not respected. We ended up rushing to leave because the cleaners were already moving around the house before our check-out time had arrived.

To their credit, the booking team apologised for our experience and said they would raise the matter with the owner. However, the owner declined to offer any form of compensation or goodwill gesture, despite acknowledging our complaint.

Separately, during our stay, we accidentally damaged the induction hob. We accepted full responsibility immediately and agreed to pay the outstanding replacement cost without dispute.

While we take responsibility for our mistake, I also believe guests should be able to enjoy their privacy until the advertised check-out time. Entering the property before check-out, without knocking or notifying guests, is not the level of service I would expect from a holiday accommodation.

Overall, the property was excellent, but the way our departure was handled means I cannot give a higher rating.

Lovely property, super comfy beds, beautiful surroundings. We were blessed with great weather so were outside alot. We enjoyed the pool, we barbecued and generally relaxed.

I found Sleeps 12 to be very helpful when booking a property for our group.

They were quick to respond to any queries and very prompt with any information requested.

Mostly good, some information a little incorrect and some pictures need updating.

Fabulous accommodation, well well equipped throughout and sparkling clean. Super facilities to keep children and adults busy. Loved the pool. Plenty of room throughout. We had a great time.

We enjoyed beautiful weather (up to 30 degrees)but could have done with some parasols as that prevented us from dining al fresco during the day and some extra fans would have been appreciated .

This property was absolutely stunning, quirky and huge! We maxed out the capacity and did not feel like we were stepping on each other's toes. Spacious bedrooms and enough bathrooms to avoid arguments. The dining room and kitchen was where we did most of our socialising, oh and the hot tub!
On our last day we fancied a BBQ but couldn't quite get it going but help was on hand and they quickly came round to sort it for us. Absolutely lovely hosts!

The property exceeded expectations. We would have liked to be pre-warned about the narrow country lanes before hand. One of our party had a very low sports car which was not really suited to narrow lanes with grass growing down the middle. The views were magnificent and the pool most welcome in the heat.

We had a brilliant stay at Churchill 20. The house with all its many amenities was a fantastic place to spend time together as a family of 10 adults and 7 grandchildren ranging from 6 - 16. Everything was spotless, the views were stunning and everywhere was well equipped. The pool area, with hot tub and sauna surpassed our expectations, the games room was enjoyed by everyone, the cinema room was fantastic and it was a welcome relief to have air conditioning throughout the property. We will definitely rebook in the future.
