stolen credit cards. corrupt jmods. i kid you not there was even the "mafia"and extortion going on in the game. the player mods r extremely unhelpful even to trusted players. so before making a account they may ban u for no reason at all after u spent thousands of hours on their game. those reasons are why i give it a 1/5 would give less if i could. modteam is incredibly unhelpful lol..

The grind is brain numbing but can be enjoyable some how. But other than that jagex is the worst gaming company out there. My acc was locked for reasons of on their end and they didn’t even bother to reply. So don’t make a Ironman. mine had a tbow and they basically r telling me to go f myself. Jagex is a horrible company. Customer support is dog shit too. Play a rsps if anything way more enjoyable.

A subscription to this 20 year old game now costs more than a wow subscription and a xbox/pc game pass subscription, which is crazy.

Can't even perform a successful game update. Truly terrible company now that has increased prices, MTX and just general greed with low quality staffing.

Horrible billing department. Brand new Premier 1 year membership. Played less than two weeks and realized I had access to my original account from childhood and asked to transfer it. Got tossed to 6+ different agents over a month with week between replies all offering me different options that changed as I asked for clarifications?

From “transfer membership but you won’t get any membership benefits” to now “transfer but you need to purchase another month to transfer” even though I played two weeks and haven’t been in since pending this.

You’ve already gouged with the price increase more than enough o carry two weeks of membership plus the fact I’m a veteran player

What the hell? Just transfer it. Just allow membership to apply to all characters? Do you hate your fan base? This is why no one is also playing RuneScape when you have a trash business model, horrible customer service and seem to only care about pushing micro transactions.

I was excited to play again but not after this experience.

Este juego es horrible, duré un año y medio jugándolo, había mejorado mucho a mi personaje e incluso pagué para poder a acceder a sus apestosos sitios premium y como a los dos o tres meses me banearon la cuenta habiendo cumplido con todas las reglas del juego, después de haber desperdiciado mi vida en esta porquería. No lo usen porque aparte de que es malo, corres el riesgo de que te baneen sin razón.

Runescape/Jagex used to be one of the most reliable, consumer caring game developers but thats all changed. There's no player support as all avenues have been closed down. Their stance on bots has completely turned around and they now support them including name snatching and account sharing. All the while increasing their memberships to become one of the most expensive games to play online.

I got hacked in 2023 due to phishing been trying to get my account back since but sincr this jagex launcher it claims that i am not the original owner when ive provided nothing but accurate information. I provided creation dates ISPs when i moved countries the ISP i played with in the new country and its still not enough details. They blocked me from recovering my own account.thank you mod beano for not being a great support. The account was successfully appealed last year i wasnt aware my email was still compromised at the time.

Horrible customer service. I mean the worst of the worst. I spent THOUSANDS of HOURS in a game and to get ur account locked for something it legitimately didn’t do. When I say I legitimately did nothing wrong,I swear on everything I did nothing wrong. And instead of helping me they basically told me to eat shizz. I’ve helped their community a TON, did 2b drop parties and stuff. And when it came time I need help with a high profile Ironman acc with twisted bow etc etc they told me to eat crap essentially. The acc has 0 macroing reports and nothing like that. And they still didn’t help. Account is still locked. How fn crazy is that. It is sickening.

FOUR reasons to play any other game instead of runescape:

ONE) Ironmen. These so called "irons" should be renamed "exploit kings" because they get 10 times more luck by simple virtue of being immune to mtx drops, hump treasure trails with third party cheats called alt1 and runelite, and then they scheme to transfer ostensibly untransferable items with carnillean chest, or just de-iron after amassing billions worth of dyes, and this has grotesquely inflated prices of items more than buying gp with bonds you might have bought with dollars, but ALL irons are groupthink lockstep parrots of wrong opinion leading that impugns all "whales," labels themselves "crabs" proudly, and its nonsense. Utter rubbish. All irons should be banned from the VIP world, en toto, as a matter of course, and instead they mob VIP and pillory all "whales" all of the time. Its ridiculous. Any MMO with a "role playing" server would dismiss players not role playing, but Jagex will not dismiss irons from VIP which is -the- whale theme world. It makes me sick angry, and I have played for 20 years!

TWO) Flocking cheat clone armies that brigade you. Many many player moderators use flocking cheat software to play not one character, but twelve charactes that walk in phalanx clone formation. This is beyond grotesque, cringe, awful. Imagine some twitch girl trying to block all 12 clones every time, and her block list is capped at 500 entries. Then... imagine further that she politely confronts the army... they can "brigade" her by all reporting her for "Disruptive Behaviour" and it will stick because too much of the moderation is done by automation called "Mod Skynet" that is not even a real person... and if you appeal, it will review itself and find itself innocent of all wrong doing, and none of the humans in Cambridge ever even know what went wrong.

THREE) English opposition to "free speech." If you're an American player its not an if, but a when, that you offend the English. I will just give two examples. The English define "spastic" as ableist hate speech because handicapped kids get hazed in UK schools, and yikes! Thats bad, but... americans use the word like it means 'drastic,' and will commonly say "don't be a spaz" meaning "don't be so drastic" right? Seems like... okay that can't be so bad. Ha ha. You will get muted by the auto censor software for a day! Also true, another example, that the one guy, Andrew Tate, has had his name banned in the UK, so you can't try to argue with one of his fans and say "Andrew Tate is terrible" with impunity and not because you said he was terrible, but because you typed his name at all... you can get muted for a whole day! These are two things the English know, and agree to, and honestly... Americans might agree to it too, but they never tell us, so idk what they think theyre accomplishing. I had to sleuth up my own explanations by researching, and you might have to do the same. In short... you kinda don't want to talk to other people inside the game at all, and that makes it a very underwhelming MMO experience for Americans used to free speech.

FOUR) redacted. nuanced long explanation is too hard. in brief though... we do want to allow fan made NSFW stuff, but... we do not want predatory sugar babies. if you know then you know, but I just can't be the one to teach it.

CAVEAT: I read how everyone here impugns lack of customer service. I have had awesome service from the billing support team, and the longest anything ever took, in 20 years of playing was 2 days to resolve. The policies like allowing ironmen to exist, flocking cheats to be used by p mods, mod skynet to enforce british prudence, and absolute denial of the skin trade's presence... man... thats not bad customer service. thats bad policy, and we dont fix that with a few people who make a few grand a year. We need the top guy who makes 1m every year to get fired. Its been entirely their fault all along.

So my review as 20 yr addict: Be careful.

Some Mods violate their own rules then you get the ban hammer and loose multiple accounts for violating the same rules as said mods. They really need to look into their employee system. Crazy how they can violate it with little to no repercussions and it gets swept under the rug. This new jagex account thing is an attempt to fix it but a way for them to hit you even harder. DO NOT IMPORT YOUR OWN ACCOUNTS LEAVE SECURITY AT YOUR HANDS NOT THE DOWNFALL OF THIS SYSTEM.

Bots, scammers and no customer support.

Rs3 will last a few years, and then they will cash out old school runescape.

BENCHSITTING TAKES TOO LONG TO GET TO 99????

Game only focuses on earning money. Plenty of bugs which they know about for months now and refuse to fix, but as soon as there is a bug where people could use money on they fix it instantly. Near impossible to reach customer service, they even call you names or threaten you as soon as you get in touch with them. Game crashes a lot only pay to win now. You het wromgfully banned really fast, a lot of corrupt moderators

I have an old RS account that they refuse to help me recover. I provided all the necessary information, but they denied it.

If you ever need to contact jagex support to get your account back, just remember they won’t help, nor will they ever hear you out.. I spent the past 3 weeks trying to recover an account from 2003 and I can’t even get one J mod to look over my info.

Terrible customer support. I have been banned for macroing or something while playing the game appealed it as done nothing of the sort. Also Said it was on old runescape when im playing rs3, my membership runs out in 2 days and surprise I got a 2 day ban... not able to contact any human about this either so will spend my time giving bad reviews
