Poor animal welfare
Had my dog for an entire day for teeth cleaning sat in a cage with a canula in his paw and never did the procedure, I had take him off them for his own welfare. I've now removed all three of my dogs from the vets and cancelled the direct debit for the so called vip scheme.
Thank you Rase vets
My dog Frankie had 5 seizures starting at 7pm Tuesday night 22nd May I phoned my vets up & got though to Swandland Hull and spoke to a vet who was not at all helpful so I phoned Rasy vets who told me to bring Frankie straight over, sadly Frankie had another seizure in the car & 2 more at Rasy vets, the vet said Frankies heart was beating fast & his temperature was high & with Frankies age been 13 it would be kinder to put him to sleep. I could not bare to see Frankie suffering so I agreed.I sat with Frankie talking & stroking him it was really peaceful. She made me a paw print on a card which i really appreciated. I paid for him to be cremated separately & his ashes returned in a casket. I went to pick up his ashes today 29th May in the bag with the casket was a condolences card from Rase vets,a card certificate of Frankies cremation and a small packet of flower seeds to plant to remember Frankie. If it wasn't for Rase vets Frankies suffering would of been greater. When I went to pick Frankies ashes up the 2 receptionist both said there condolences for Frankie & one of them got up and brought the bag round the counter to me & said her condolences again. Thank you to all at Rasy vets.
Avoid
Avoid, truly awful, a few visits, a diagnosis, a prescription, a cannula left in on the way home, a two day stay and Doglet came out worse after a near death experience, guesswork reducing prescription dosage. Also no continuity with vets and no senior vets or managers around etc. Very expensive with huge estimate costs which they manage to spend 100%. No itemised bill when they’re spent up. Nothing good at all for your furry ones .. I also think the care was incompetent

A simple visit to the vet for anal gland clearance. Vet took him out back. 5 minutes later the gland had fistulated. Never heard of that happening before. Several visits over the next 2 weeks were necessary to clear infection and have glands emptied Didnt see the same vet twice. Photographs taken at one visit were never available on other visits - so much for comparitive photos. We could not be sure the fistulation was malpractice or incompetence but what followed next with our cat convinced us to change vets.QUICKLY

Took my best friend Mylo to be put out of pain,He had cancer ,admitted it was in lockdown but they knew we were coming,When we arrived Mylo was taken at the main door and we were told we couldn't hav our final time with him or hold him as he went to sleep,WE WILL REMEMBER THIS ALLWAYS,sorry my friend my boy II remember your face at the door as you looked and wanted us there,so sorryxx. Would not recommend using the practice or petplan worst memory's ever and tricked by the Insurance
Poor customer service
Not sure how competent these vets are. Missing half of the service. Receptionists have a poor blah blah attitude. They forget to mention my dog needs two more check ups after surgery. They forgot to charge me in the first place, then overcharged me so I had to be refunded. Avoid if possible.
Our dog was sent to Rase Veterinary…
Our dog was sent to Rase Veterinary centre by a local vet while we were on holiday due to vomit and Diarrhoea after trying to treat him without any improvement.
He was kept at Rase for X-rays which they said were un-inclusive and returned to us saying he was eating drinking no vomit or diarrhoea, during his first night home he was lethargic, still vomit and diarrhoea, had to take him back to local vets who told us he was very poorly and needed to be sent to a specialist hospital in Derby, we drove 2 hours they kept him and emergency surgery took place where they removed a blockage he made a good recovery and Derby hospital saved his life.
Rase are now trying to request a large amount of money for his treatment, we are now in dispute with this bill.
MONEY FIRST ANIMAL SECOND
MONEY. MONEY. MONEY. That is the priority. I recently took my dog as I suspected he had bloat. The vet agreed and said they would sedate him to xray. They phoned me and confirmed that the dogs stomach had twisted (gastric torsion) and he needed to be operated on. The vet then said they could not do an operation till I had paid £2600.00. Luckily I had a credit card and was put through to a receptionist to pay. The dog unfortunately died shortly after the operation. He never came home. I am left wondering, how long was he on the operating table before the operation was done, while they seemed more bothered about the money than the dog. I'll obviously never know but am left with that thought in my head. With gastric torsion, the vets know, as do I, that EVERY MINUTE IS CRUCIAL. Yet they wasted valuable time. It is not as if I am a new customer I have been a client for a few years now. I have several dogs. registered with them. I rang a couple of weeks after this to ask, If I hadn't had a credit card what would they have done. The reply was that one alternative would be to pay half the money up front and the rest on payments. I said not everyone has that sort of money instantly, what is the alternative. The reply - euthanasia. The vets I assume are following company policy and it seems as if the company policy is get the money first - dogs well being second.
Had an appointment for my dog to be checked for a wound
Had an appointment for my dog to be checked over & after turning up on time was still waiting 10 minutes later. On asking how much longer we would have to wait was told very dismissively that emergencies had cropped up which were far more important than us. That might have been true but if I had been told on arrival of this then I would have totally understood. The receptionist though seemed to object to me even asking the question & was extremely rude in her reply. This is not the first time myself or my dog have been made to feel like nuisances & my wife who also accompanied me this time said she had also felt the same vibe.I joined initially because they were local & thought local was best but in there you only get the feeling of an uncaring corporate machine
Getting expensive
I thought this vet was different and were more realistic with their prices. Clearly I was wrong. £23 for 1 worming/flea treatment for my 6 month old pup. How ridiculous, when you can buy separate worming and flea treatment from a reputable pet store for a lot less. They have their good points like giving phone advice and puppy parties, which are a great way to socialise your pup.
Incompetence from receptionists
Yesterday I spent all day waiting for a call from the vet to say they were coming out to vaccinate my horse. I had booked (and paid in advance for) an 'Equizone' visit, which means that it could be anytime of the day but you get a call 30 mins before they arrive. When it got to 5 pm and starting to go dark, I called the surgery to ask if there was any idea of when they were coming. Was told I would get a call from the vet. Also that another horse in the yard was being vaccinated at the same time. I sat there (an isolated farm yard) alone, in the dark (everyone else had left), becoming more and more nervous. Horse getting very agitated at being kept in and threatening to kick the door down. After nearly an hour I turned the horse out in the field and went home. I never received a call. This morning I received a text message reminding me to book an appointment, which I had already booked and paid for. On calling the surgery I was offered no apology, just an appointment for next week. Let me explain at this point that failing to get the horse vaccinated within the stipulated time scale means you are ineligible to compete at most events and will have to restart the entire course of vaccinations. When I spoke to the owner of the other horse it transpired that the vet came out yesterday morning but omitted to call me.
3 months ago they lost an insurance claim form for my other horse, who had to be put down after a mystery illness. Don't know how they managed this as I handed it to the receptionist in person. It caused me a lot of distress having to read through the notes and relive the traumatic experience in order to fill the form out again. The receptionists also seem lacking in sympathy and sometimes downright thick. As my horse was dying, I had to repeatedly shout details of the post code into the phone as she failed to understand it. Oddly enough, she had no trouble taking down my bank details, which she insisted I provide for payment in advance before the vet would agree to attend. This in spite of always settling my bills immediately. I could go on .... Suffice to say I will now be looking for another vet.
Good Vet,maybe sometimes need wait…
Good Vet,maybe sometimes need wait longer than planed, but nothing wrong with them. Dr.Pedro in Scunthorpe is always carefull and doing good job with my dog.
I wouldn't advise anyone to go to this vet.…
I was concerned that my 9 year old Labrador was foaming at the mouth for a time one evening with no other symptons. Rang out of hours "helpline" to ask what I should do. Given no advice whatsoever but told I could monitor or take him in to "emergency". Decided to take him phoned to inform but nobody there waiting to meet us. Phoned from the car to be told one minute. Foaming had stopped at this stage AND my dog jumped in and out of the 4*4, Then kept waiting over in a hot porchway before anyone came. Not surprisingly his temperature was high so advised to leave him and he would be put on a drip. At this stage the vet (presumably the out of hours is manned by a qualified vet) seemed pretty casual and cold really not talking to/fussing the dog to relax him and raising eyebrows when answered the dogs age was 9. More focused on producing an itemised bill for £500 up front payment before we left.
The next morning expected to pick him up and take him home. Only 12 hours after I had left him was told over the phone that he had a couple of seizures and not good and had a cancer that had spread to his brain and maybe could do more but best to be put to sleep. Went to see him but he was quite timid and frightened and didn't show any signs of recognition. He then had a fit. All very distressing. Again told he had a tumour on the brain and best to be put to sleep, When asked what further to be done told he could be referred to Wakefield or Derby but would probably be dead before he got there. Took the professional advice warned of over the phone it being best for the dog to be put to sleep. Feel now I was vulnerable in wanting what was best for the dog and "pressurised" into making that decision. Agonised ever since over whether it was the right decision.
Concerned about his treatment and "care". What had they done to my dog overnight? Wish we had never left him.
Looking back how could they say he had cancer and a brain tumour without scans? Many questions many regrets.
Should have read negative reviews that are around before going to Rase.
Have been distraught ever since at the premature loss of my pet. Torturing myself for 3 months now whether my lovely dog should have his life taken away and whether there could/should have been a different outcome.
I have been left with no confidence in Rase. Their out of hours helpline gave no advice and my experience questions the quality of the so-called "emergency services" and the level of care and attendance given when leaving a dog with them overnight.
After spending £1,900 on an operation…
After spending £1,900 on an operation for our Labradoodle dog, and £1500 on my other dog last year, the labradoodle after the operation contracted another problem which they said was possibly an inner ear infection. However, she lost the use of her legs and after a lot of soul searching we decided to have her put down. Explaining to the practice that as pensioners on only a stare pension and the previous bill took all our savings, they told us we would have to pay £ 240 for euthanasia. Explaining that we had no savings left they said they said after a discussion with "management" they could not help out and we would have to pay in full. Not wishing to see my dog suffer we have had to borrow the funds for this.
Caring vets? they need to take that of their advertising, I will never use that company again.
Used to be a great vets
Used to be a great vets. Now, sadly, like most vets, it's being ran by Financial Directors over animal health care professionals. You are their cash cow and they are here to milk you. Cost quoted for flea, tick, worming treatment and a scale an polish for my 5 year old collie, £550
Steer clear and find a decent vet that is more about animal welfare, not quarterly profits.
I have used this vets for the last two…
I have used this vets for the last two years, the first year was fine, they are across the road so really convenient and the staff are lovely, I chose to move vets for this reason and the fact they offered a monthly scheme with a text msg service to let me know when my dogs flea and wormer were ready to order/collect, this worked for a year, then the msg stopped with out any warning, apparently because my data protection needed renewing, again not notified of this, consequently my menopausal brain fog cleared for a moment and I realised it had been a while since he was wormed etc, rang the vets to be told I had paid into the VIP scheme for a year without being notified of the meds being ready, I was not entitled to a refund and I was not allowed to have the meds I had already paid for, challenged this was faced with questionable excuses and rude staff, challenged again and the tactic of trying to guilt shame me by stating in a somewhat condescending manner that it was on the terms and conditions that it is my responsibility and did I not know my dog needed this treatment!!!
Shocking care
After making an appointment with my jack russell a couple of weeks ago and seeing a vet who was more interested in telling me she had just come back from maternity leave than examining my dog my husband went back into Rase on the 17th of June to request a referral to Paragon. No contact received from either Rase nor Paragon so yesterday (this is now over a week) I rang Rase to check the situation - nothing had been done about the referral! I requested it again and they promised to do it yesterday, so this afternoon I rang Paragon to make an appointment - they have received no referral from Rase. I have now rung Rase once again and once again they are promising to do it today. I have a dog in discomfort who needs medical attention which they obviously don't care about because the money is not coming to their pocket. Absolutely disgusted with their lack of service.
