Disappointed Customer

this is my third time booking with railbookers my first trip was Switzerland it was an amazing trip however as I was there I was checking my rail tickets and I was missing my last train I was able to contact them and they faxed over my ticket to the hotel with just minuets to spare, my next trip was last year in Canada again a great tip however they included a trip up to a sky resort from Lake Louise however there was no transportation from the hotel to the sky resort so I never got to go, I was about to attempt a walk it was about 2 miles however the hotel said no there are wild animals around and wouldn't recumbent it. my third and most defiantly last trip is coming up in August 2026 to Scotland I booked this trip last year May 2025 because I wanted to get the Harry Potter train first class which they confirmed last year, and just now a month before the trip they told me it was not available so I would be in standard class. this was very upsetting many because im a single traveler they bumped me for a couple I will never know the reason, so this is definitely my last trip with them.

While we're sorry your travels didn't unfold as you had hoped, we'd like to provide some additional context.

Regarding your Switzerland trip, we sincerely apologize that one of your rail tickets was inadvertently omitted from your travel documents. Thankfully, the missing ticket was provided before it affected your journey, allowing your travel plans to continue without interruption.

We're also sorry to hear about the transportation challenges you encountered in Canada. While the gondola excursion was included in your itinerary, transportation to and from the attraction was not part of the package. As outlined in the travel documents, some hotels may offer complimentary shuttle service, and guests are encouraged to check with the hotel directly regarding availability. Had we been made aware of the issue while you were traveling, we would have been happy to assist by contacting the hotel to help determine what options were available. Although transportation was outside the scope of your package, we were still pleased to extend a goodwill gesture in recognition of your disappointment.

We also understand your frustration regarding the Jacobite Steam Train on your upcoming Scotland vacation. This season was particularly challenging, as the operator delayed the start of service, resulting in an exceptionally high volume of guests attempting to secure reservations once tickets were released. Our team booked your seats as soon as inventory became available; however, First Class had already sold out. Rather than have you miss this iconic experience altogether, we secured Standard Class seating, adjusted your reservation to reflect the fare difference, and provided an additional goodwill gesture in acknowledgment of your disappointment.

We never want a guest to feel that their concerns have gone unheard. While some aspects of travel are outside of our control, we remain committed to being transparent, finding solutions whenever possible, and supporting our guests every step of the way. We appreciate your feedback, and we will continue using it to improve the experience we provide to future travelers.

twice bitten!



This is the 2nd poor review i have posted about this company....we (my wife as a 70th birthday surprise) booked a very expensive trip but i was then sadly hospitalised before our departure...all we wanted to do was postpone but there was zero customer service apart from "please see out T & C's"...i then emailed the CEO's office but nothing!..so 100% loss!

Stop Press..my disappointment was picked up by customer services whose response was highly professional and has restored my faith … thank you

Fail even before we started

Inquired last week about a trip and worked with them on some customizations for Edinburgh return/departures, responded back Friday afternoon with email requesting a call to book the trip, no reply so I called back the following Monday morning only to find the flash sale over and our discount no longer on offer and management unwilling to honor the deal even though there was no mention of the sale ending on Monday or attempt to return our call before that. VERY poor form; I had my doubts about his company looking at reviews and the slow response to travelers with difficulty, but thought we might see how Railbookers worked in practice, well I guess we got our answer. They couldn't get it right even BEFORE the start.
UPDATE; After an hour I was called and informed Railbookers WOULD honor the discount. All this angst could have been avoided had the company informed me when the sale ended.

Railbookers disappointing

We booked a multi-city European trip through Railbookers that included Dublin, Belfast, Glasgow, Fort William, Inverness, Edinburgh, London, and Paris. Unfortunately, the experience was very disappointing and did not reflect the premium price we paid.

Several major parts of the itinerary were cancelled or mishandled. The Jacobite train was cancelled and refunded, which we understand can happen. However, our London package advertised as Tower of London + Thames River Cruise + Changing of the Guard ended up being only the Tower of London, with the other portions cancelled. We have still not received a refund.

The biggest disappointment was in Paris. We booked a Normandy day tour, which we considered one of the highlights of the trip. No one was present at the pickup location provided in our documents, so we missed the excursion entirely. We contacted support, but no refund has been issued.

The hotels selected were basic budget accommodations, which was surprising given the total price of the trip. We also found parts of the travel packet unclear and inadequate, especially instructions for changing from bus to train in Ayr, Scotland.

Overall, we feel the trip was overpriced for the value delivered. There were too many problems, poor communication, missing excursions, and disappointing accommodations. Based on our experience, we would not use Railbookers again.
