Breakdown in Europe
Breakdown in Europe, with sudden cut out. Phoned National Breakdown with low phone left. Had to download a third party app so they could find us. Still had trouble pinpointing. Had to send photo of my ticket too. After an hour, the car started again, so we went with it. We were on a long journey so stopped at hotel. Next day, they did call to check, but car was still running then. Sadly, it cut out again. Phoned, with a different person, to be told this was an "existing fault" when it was the same fault (petrol pump problems) and my ticket (they had finally looked at it) was more than 45 days long so broke the contract. This was an arbitrary date so no skin off my back to change it to a date that was acceptable ( this is apparently in T&Cs. No offer to help, wouldn't even bother to help on a paying basis. We were baking in hot sun in a foreign country in a village with NO shops or cafe or comms. What do these employees care? Nothing. They weasel out of everything. Awful communications from people who don't understand car faults - existing indeed! Spend the money and get a serious cover from a reputable firm. These people just want to make money, not help.
Not worth working with, or even considering
Not worth applying for or working with. Spent 90mins in the interview and answered all the questions above & beyond expectations. They ignored me for a month claiming it was an oversight. Then offered me the position, when I called to discuss, they ignored me again. Staff are rude, repulsive & ignorant. Don’t expect help from staff unless they agree to train you up to a competent level. Complete waste of time & very poor management.
Do Not Use These!!!
Paid £320 for a breakdown tyre replacement, took my payment over the phone, received a text to say ETA 1hr 30min then about 20 minutes later received another text to say ETA 5 minutes to then receive a phone call to say that they haven’t got my tyre available and that they would tow me home for a cost of £126….now I have to wait 3-5 days for a refund & had to go elsewhere. Been sat around now for 2 hrs 15 minutes. Never asked for an email address to send an invoice too…..I am FUMING!!!
Rescued, recovered and relayed to safety in 20 minutes!
Having been on hold with the AA for what felt like an eternity, only to be told it would be another 3 hours before a recovery would be sent to help my son, I tried these guys. Phone was answered very quickly. I was given a quote up front and was told I had a time slot of 60 - 90 minutes. My son was actually recovered in 20 minutes. Fabulous service. Thank you so much
Great experience and customer service
I called National Breakdown in desperation at almost 2am on Friday 26th January 2024. I had been waiting on my own in the dark for the RAC since 7.30pm. They kept pushing my allotted time of assistance further into the night and I was so stressed out and anxious. It was a horrible experience. The guy I spoke to at National Breakdown was so sympathetic to my situation and he managed to calm me and assure me he could get me home safely. Less than an hour later Araf arrived and took me and my car home. They were amazing. I can't thank them enough for the excellent service and customer care.
Don't use National Breakdown
Don't use this company, absolutely dreadful, sat waiting for 3hours for them to come out ,they didn't,Told by person on phone get a taxi home and leave the car till the following morning.Next day still waiting for them to come and check fault with the car.Going back to the RAC for full breakdown cover , Please don't waste your time signing up to this company
Please dont waste your money and time…
Please dont waste your money and time with them ppl. Customer service is horrible.. took call out charges for no reason and then refuse to cover the job. Sent wrong reason to the agent and then asking for more money if I need anymore services...
actually sent a one armed mechanic out…
actually sent a one armed mechanic out ..seriously true ..he couldn't fix flat battery with faulty earth lead claiming never had right tools wanted to charge me £200 to tow vehicle to his garage over 20m away when I refused told me to call out a mobile mechanic at my expense ..which I was forced to at cost of £80 mobile fixed fault within 20mins got me up and running ..its clear National breakdown are employing local cowboy garages
Avoid if possible
I had rather unpleasant experience with service they provided. On Sunday morning my car ceased to start. Unfortunately I didn't have breakdown cover. I was trying to contact few companies (AA and RAC) but their lines were constantly busy. National Breakdown responded. After paying 160 pounds fee as a non member they sent assistant. He arrived within stated time and checked my car. As I was expecting starter motor broke down. The assistant decided to use hammer and the screwdriver to get it started. After few unsuccessful bashes he gave up and advised me to find local garage and arrange towing. Trusting his judgement and knowledge I booked a hotel as I was 3 hours away from home. However I decided to give another call to The AA. This time I managed to speak to them and they sent their agent. What a completely different experience it was. In less than 20 minutes after his arrival my car was up and running again and I was able to make my journey back home.
Now I know why their phone lines are so much busier...
Given how little was done to help me in that stressful situation I asked for a full refund hoping for partial at least but this was of course politely denied
