Do not use this company
I would give this company a ‘0’ star. The experience was awful. Firstly, it took me a significant amount of time to set up the mobile settings to receive calls and SMS, which I did not face with other providers. Additionally, they suddenly closed your account even though you have paid all the required money. No apology, no remedy plan, no customer service. They just took the money and wished you good luck. So if you want to avoid hassle, do not use it.

Karta eSIM z japońskim numerem telefonu wiele razy mnie uratowała. Mogłam dzwonić do hoteli, robić rezerwacje w restauracjach lub wyjaśnić problemy z nadaniem bagażu. Bez numeru telefonu nie dałabym rady!
Internet też działał świetnie na terenie całej Japonii. Nie zacinał się i nie było z nim żadnych problemów.
Od momentu odebrania instrukcji na lotnisku do wylotu z Japonii wszystko było proste w obsłudze i zupełnie nie musiałam martwić się o internet!

Mobal wiele razy uratował naszą podróż po Japonii. Chcieliśmy tyle zobaczyć a czasu było mało:) Dzięki temu, ze mieliśmy kartę eSIM z numerem telefonu, mogliśmy zawsze przełożyć nasze rezerwacje i dopytać o szczegóły właścicieli atrakcji. Japoński numer dawał nam sporą przewagę i czuliśmy, że dużo łatwiej jest nam załatwić dowolną sprawę. Wszystko działało sprawnie i bez żadnych problemów. Dzięki Mobal!

Fast SIM shipping and excellent connectivity in Japan!
I ordered a physical SIM from Mobal for my trip to Japan, because my phone Samsung A53 doesn't support eSIM. Wanted to have it shipped (to Netherlands) so i can have it before landing in Japan. I got it shipped in about a week, and i even entered the APN provided setting in advance in my phone. A few seconds after inserting the SIM at Narita airport, i had instant connectivity, which was so surprising and comforting! I had fast and reliable signal throughout the 2 weeks i traveled, which made my trip easier and even more memorable. Would choose Mobal again for traveling to Japan!

Exchange program in Japan with Mobal.
I went on exchange abroad to Japan by myself. It was my first time in Asia, and as you can imagine, I was really concerned about being able to use my phone since I didn’t speak any Japanese at that point. Getting a SIM card seemed like a big challenge. However, Mobal took all those worries away. It was a very simple and stress-free process. I bought my SIM card on their website, got an eSIM with data, and chose an activation date for the day I landed in Japan. From the very first minute in the country, I already had access to the internet.
Next, I wanted to get a phone number, so I ordered a second eSIM with data and phone calls. The process was very simple, I chose my plan, paid, and selected a pick-up location. The location I chose was at a station, easy to find, I just went there, picked it up, and it was ready to use right away.
I have been using their SIM cards for two months now and have never had any problems with signal or slow data. I told my other exchange friends about it, and they’ve had the same experience.

Great 4G LTE connectivity but hiccups with activation!
Great 4G LTE connectivity throughout my 14-day (9/22 to 10/05/25) trip in Japan. KYOTO, NARA, OSAKA, TOKYO. I do wish 5G data speed was available. I do love the massive data plan 50GB for 16 days.
I did have a little hiccup activating my eSIMs on the 1st day. I was getting worried that I had wasted my money. One eSIM had the wrong preset APN settings. I needed to find a local SIM retailer in the HND Airport for help and manually change the APN settings.
I did not get the activation email of the 2nd eSIM until 12+ hours of arriving Japan. I requested the activating email before I departed USA on 9/20/25 @ 1600 ET. The activation email information didn't arrive in my inbox until 9/22/25 @ 1800 JST. I had to email Mobal service center for the activation email when I arrived in Japan using the airport's Wi-Fi.

All went smoothly except:
* the set-up is entirely self-service. The instructions are clear, but some human assistance at the collection point would be even better
* my first attempted connection was in a rural area with a very weak docomo signal and was unable to connect. No problem after moving to a town. A warning from Mobal would have helped.
I would use Mobal again.

I've used Mobal before and was delighted
I've used Mobal before and was not disappointed so it was natural to use the service again. This time it was even easier to set up on my phone, not because I've used it before but because Mobal have improved things, it is almost a single click process, nothing to make a note of, nothing that's difficult to understand, just a QR code to view and that's it.

Extremely frustrating experience
Extremely frustrating experience– I should have read the product page more carefully but according to the main box on the product page, my device is esim compatible. If I had dug further into some obscured drop down menus, I would have seen that I also needed my phone to be unlocked. Again, my fault, but it seems reasonable that I could get a refund since I didn't use the esim and noticed the mistake and reached out immediately. They let me know promptly that they don't offer refunds in this situation which feels like a pretty scummy way to make $26.

The eSim had excellent network coverage during my entire trip to Japan (Tokyo, Hakone, Kamakura, Nara, Kyoto, Osaka, Hiroshima).
If you have initial problems with the network, it is best to enter the settings manually.

It's a scam!
Tourists, be careful, this service is a scam! They promise the world but the Internet is absolutely slow, close to zero-speed downloads. Their only benefit towards their competitors is the fact they provide foreigners a number, but you should definitely ignore this and go for a more suitable provider.
I signed up for Voice + Data SIM Card and followed all their setting steps. They say it's a 4G service but you receive something more like a GPRS/Edge.
It's a scam and the Governnment should do something about this!

I bought a SIM card along with a number on March 2025 , two months before arriving in Japan . Yes the customer service may be responsive but the rest sucks . The service , coverage and the pricing is absolutely horrible. I bought an eSIM as I wanted to have access to my US number . Somehow the coverage and the communication wasn’t clear on how to have both on . So at times I had to turn off my US eSIM to get Mobil lousy coverage. Texts weren’t going through and I am talking about locally . I then realized the price I was charged which is very high didn’t cover calls or texts . I left Japan a month ago and de activated the phone a month before leaving, and I am being charged still . Basically I had the phone for two months and I have paid for this damn service since March . Basically 5 months. Never used the phone as I was so frustrated and gave up. I would never ever use Mobal again . It’s not the best choice . I supplì have just used my US number which would have been much cheaper .

The company did what it said it would…
The company did what it said it would at the price that it said. No nasty surprises. It delivered the wifi box quickly and setup was easy. I always felt in control. Clean, simple, easy - no hard sell - it just works. It gave me notice by email of the deadline to change or cancel my contract (the 20th of the month). Recommended, and I will use it again.

Great Company who supports charities
Ordered a sim card for calls and data for Japan. Item was delivered promptly along with good instructions, my phone was all set to go as soon as I landed in Osaka. Which was lucky as needed it to contact the driver on arrival. Excellent communications, easy to use, and love the fact that Mobal give back to communities/charities etc. They aren't just in it for themselves which was one of the reasons I opted for mobal. Having now used them I am definitely using them for my next trip to Japan. Such excellent service/support/product was great never any issues with coverage and as a bonus they help people - what's not to love ❤️🙏🏻❤️

I've been a customer for almost two years now and i've never had a single issue using this company for my phone and data. Mobal is a great company.Their prices are very low and their service is amazing. I have a true japanese phone number which makes life much easier when trying to get an apartment or other things for long term stays in japan. Without them life would be a lot more stressful, even when I become a full Japanese citizen. I will most likely continue using their services because I see no reason to switch since it works so well.
