I cannot fault the workers but managers terrible took over 5 months to have extension finished! broken promises literally had a builder in every weekday for 5 months instead of sending more workmen was infuriating! Told them I need a fixed price and my limit they assured me they were not the kind of company that charge extras a fixed price is what it should be but no. They were more interested in going to other jobs than finishing the one they started. Calling up wanting more money before the job is even finished! the managers had no idea what had been done I called and asked when was the work going to be done he said its finished!! I didn't even have the floor in it was shocking from start to finish. I agreed to pay the extra for the kitchen but was not informed of other costs until it had been done They left my garden like a builders yard and only sorted that because yet again I had to complain. Requested contract and a breakdown of how the money was used they wouldn't give me one I repeatedly asked and emailed still nothing. I would never use again

Minor urgent plumbing job needed. Susan in the Swaffham office did her best to help and I appreciate there is a degree of luck in getting someone that day to help, but MG managed it, so full marks and happy with the job done.

Our old kitchen mixer tap was falling appart and leaking and MG building maintenance did a great job replacing it. The plumber, Chris, came and fitted a new tap, fitted hot and cold isolation valves, and even replaced a damaged sink blanking plate.

Had a new walk in shower fitted to future proof our little bungalow and a full bathroom refurbishment. MG Building Maintenance were very professional from start to finish, gave us ideas we never even thought of. Workmen were polite and on time everyday and the standard of work and the consideration of our property were exceptional. Would definitely recommend and will use them again

I would recommend MG building Maintenance based on my recent experience fitting a new tap and radiator into my bathroom. Both were fitted perfectly. Pricing was reasonable and transparent. The engineer arrived on time I’m very happy with the work they did for me.

I couldn’t be more impressed with the service from MG Building Maintenance. From the moment I contacted them, they were professional, responsive, and extremely helpful. I had an emergency with broken pipes and they arranged for a plumber to come out as quickly as possible. The plumber arrived promptly, diagnosed the issue straight away, and fixed it efficiently.

What really stood out was how dedicated the team was to providing excellent service and going above and beyond to help. In a stressful situation, they made the whole process smooth and reassuring. I highly recommend MG Building Maintenance to anyone looking for reliable, professional, and fast service.

We were most impressed with the professional service throughout including the initial appraisal and quotation.
The internal decorating by David and Aaron was to a high standard and they made every effort to ensure disruption was kept to a minimum,
We would be happy to use them again.

Project: Garage Conversion (£16,000)
Timeline: Quoted 2 weeks; took 9 weeks (64 days).

I hired MG Building & Maintenance to convert my garage into a studio space. While the initial meeting was positive, the actual experience was a taxing, disorganized, and expensive lesson.
The Issues:

Poor Communication: Almost everything was verbal. This led to constant errors, including the double doors being installed to open the wrong way, the light switch placed on the wrong wall, and mismatched brickwork. Even when email were replied to it often didn't amount to anything meaning.

Lack of Project Management: Despite being told they don't subcontract, there was high employee turnover. I often had to act as the project manager, explaining the plans to new workers who arrived with no brief. To the point were they reinstalled the same electrical work at least 3 times and attempted to save a roof that only after a while did they realise they were supposed to replace. As per the initial conversations with the owner.

Inaccurate Quotes: Vital elements (like proper flooring and wall treatments to prevent damp) weren't in the initial quote and were only addressed halfway through at an extra cost after some of the worker pointed out the issues that they would cause.

Build Quality & Aftercare: Within two months, the plasterboard cracked significantly and the exterior roof skirting failed due to being improperly installed. Getting them to honor their "guarantee" was an ordeal of ignored emails and missed appointments. When the owner waited 2 weeks to finally view the cracks in the plasterboard, he said I fix them myself during redecorating (why redecorate a thing I just had redone within 3 months? No idea, guess some people have money to burn). They remain unfixed and I will end up having to do it. To their credit after about a month and a half of back and forth, they did fix the exterior roof skirting which took about 30 minutes after they got the supplies and figured out what needed to be down. Only wast several hours of my and their time to get there over the course of weeks..

Hidden Costs/Attitude: Any attempt to discuss costs was met with "you're getting a great deal," rather than a professional breakdown. For £16k, the experience was is stress and the results are on par with the average handyman. Generally it is painfully obvious the the management needs to learn customer services skills and desperately needs to understand how to efficiently use their tradesmen. Tradesmen are a mixed bag, some very good and other middling.

Verdict:

I now have a space that serves as a expensive reminder of a frustrating experience. They lack attention to detail and professionalism.

Unfortunately, Trustpilot won't let my list my issues at the length I wish to, but long story short. Had I known what was in store for me I would have paid someone else to do this job.

The work on my kitchen was completed quickly and efficiently and to a high standard. The skilled team worked very hard and left everywhere tidy and clean. I would recommend this company to anyone requiring building work done. An excellent job.

The MG building team made my pathway perfect! They were so polite and professional the entire time from the admin team to the building team- every one of them have been so lovely. I will absolutely recommend them.

This was the first time I used this company and the service was excellent.
The man was on time, he looked at my leaking tap and decided it would need replacing. He then went and purchased a replacement, fitted it. Very pleasant young man. If we need something fixing we will certainly use them again.

Good communication between Sue in Swaffham Office and me (the customer) throughout. The Electrician who changed the control panel on our central heating system, was very efficient and professional. He knew we had no heating during that freezing cold spell and came to fix it as soon as he could.

Very impressed and would highly recommend. Bush is a very hard worker, very polite, and explains exactly what was going on each day and then just cracks on, no issues 10/10. Also thanks to Sue for organising a quote and Donna for arranging a date for the work to be done(next day)

I accepted the quote from MG on 27 November and the work was completed on 13 December
The fitter carried out the work efficiently and most of all he cleared up when he had finished. 10/10

Would like to say a big thank you for the conservatory giveaway, we really appreciate it.Was delivered in separate vans to keep the glass separate,and safe from breakages from the other materials which was brilliant 👏 lovely staff who were very polite ,and unloaded everything for us,very professional.

Thoroughly impressed with MG Building maintenance, from the first site quote to final inspection from Mark. We are absolutely delighted with our bathroom. Christian and Bush were a pleasure to have round as they were friendly, tidy, communicated well and were always here on time working throughout the day. I really liked the fact that if issues arose (as they do on old houses) nothing was a problem they just gave us solutions and cracked on. Every part of the bathroom has been completed to a high standard and would absolutely reccomend MG to anyone who requires work done around the house.

The same can be said to the guys that came and fixed our roof, barely noticed they were here and just got on with the job at hand.

We will be looking to upgrade our kitchen in the next few years and will definitely be coming back to MG.

We have just had a new water cylinder fitted by MG. After years of minor issues with multiple plumbers & engineers looking at the issue, it has finally and hopefully identified and fixed. They are not the cheapest but we have never had any issues or concerns with the quality and we were not let down on this occasion. They were on time, good at keeping us updated, extremely tidy with their work and clean up and just went that extra mile which makes so much of a difference.

Did a few jobs for me, all the tradesmen did an excellent job and left everything tidy afterwards. Highly recommend.

Fantastic service from everyone at Swaffham branch of MG building. From Sue in the office and Kriston the plumber, nothing was too much trouble and work was completed to a high standard with all rubbish cleared away.
