Ordinarily I love the Met Office website. Especially for checking out wind speed and gusts. They are vitally important for my sport. Sadly, the new design doesn't support this feature, and rather th... Mehr ansehen

A truly awful example of change for change sake. The old app was comprehensive and concise in a table format. The new app adopts a scattergun approach to providing the information and is truly awful.... Mehr ansehen
Previous version app was excellent, new version is massively inferior. Long range forecast disappeared, rain radar won't load. Tried to find old version to reload but it's not available. Used to us... Mehr ansehen
New layout/format is very poor. Lost the hour by hour column based data necessary for planning my day. If the old version stops I'll dump the app and find an alternative

Awful! Dumbed down weather app.
Awful! Unclear, not easy to navigate or find information. Surely pressure displays, pressure trends and frontal systems are fundamental to a credible weather app - sadly lacking ( or else too hard to find). Weather app on Apple has more enhanced information, clearer displays and more information.
Absolutely awful
Absolutely awful. Too finicky. Hard to pick out data when everything is grey and black. Almost unusable. The old app was excellent.
Sack whoever made these changes!
The person who thought these changes were a positive step should be sacked.
Awful. Awful. Awful!!!
Worse than previous since ‘ updates’
The new app doesn't even load properly
The new app doesn't even load properly. When I try to load it I put my phone down and come back 15 mins later! The information is all over the place and not even as complete as before. It's another sign the UK can't do anything right.
It's unclear to navigate
It's unclear to navigate, all flickering graphics. Can't find wind gust speeds easily, can't change location easily, no simple daily written forecast, and where is the long range forecast hidden? I used the old app loads, but I'm on the verge of giving up. I recommend The Weather Outlook to true weather fans.
The new app
The new app, is extremely difficult to use. Not only is the layout colour text information and graphics overwhelming, it gives me a headache and nausea. Not ideal if you have to use it for work regularly throughout your working day.
It consistently tells me I’m 6 miles away in another village which the old app didn’t do.
Do we actually need to be told it is one degree different in temperature than yesterday?
In recent days it’s poured with rain to the extent that everything is flooded yet under the air pollution section it encourages people to ‘enjoy your usual outdoor activities’ which is comical given the circumstances. Surely just air pollution low is enough.
I offered assistance to the met office to make it more accessible through app specific adjustments on apple devices and was told that it wasn’t up for discussion, and politely told to get on with it.
The weather is a very important part of my daily life and having to make do with a sub standard confusing app and having to have my whole phone in inverted monochrome to try and use it is exhausting.
It is sad in this world of inclusivity that the most important apps that we use to keep us safe are now more complex and unusable than ever, in a winter when we are facing relentless storms.
If it ain’t broke don’t fix it
If it ain’t broke don’t fix it. Looking at the one star rating thankfully I’m not alone. I thought I would get used to it but I’ll have to look elsewhere, it’s beyond frustrating.
Very poor
The new weather app is much harder to read due to light print on coloured background. There's a reason why books are generally printed black on white!
Met office say it's less cluttered but not on my phone it isn't. It is very cluttered and overcrowded.
Tried to use the yellow warnings section today. It used to be easy to expand the map to see exactly where warnings applied. Now that is very hard to do without collapsing the whole thing.
I am actively looking for an alternative & will delete the new Met office app when I've chosen a better one.
Very poor show, Met Office. Yet another example of enshittification.
Met Office Catastrophic App Downgrade
If no stars were an option, that’s what I would’ve given it. This app is absolutely useless. It’s almost impossible to use. The dark background is shambolic. I have visual difficulties and there is no option to revert the colour to white. It’s practically unreadable now. Neither can you work out what the weather is going to be like without having to set aside a study period. What’s truly incredible is that whoever designed this managed to destroy everything that was good about an amazing app. Well done, you’ve dragged this app down into the pit of where just about everything else is going these days. Perhaps you’d like to link it up completely with AI, forget the science, then we can engage as much guess work as to what the weather will be as to how to manipulate an infuriating app.
Hate the dark background
Hate the dark background. Hard to read and much preferred the old layout and colour. Only improvement is slightly more detail such as showing separately the speed of wind gusts.
I find it very hard to use
I find it very hard to use - hard to read the stark and dark colour scheme, very "jumpy" to scroll through, and looks really "tacky" in design and layout. The old app was cleaner and clearer and much nicer to use and with better more detailed information eg surface pressureetc
The new app is unbelievably dumbed…
The new app is unbelievably dumbed down. I relied on the old app for sensible information, to help with planning. The new UI is cartoonish and patronising, with bright colours and pictures of sun and rain. I can't use this. It's no longer a serious app.
Previous app was much better
Previous app was much better. Radar maps were better. Widgets were better. Current location was better. And new app is more expensive to go add free.
People should be sacked!
This should be a case study for how not to run an IT project. The new app is so bad I’ve deleted it. Whoever thought this was good to go live should be sacked.
The upgrade simply should be binned
The upgrade simply should be binned. The user experience is now poor and frustrating. I am giving up with the new style app because the new over design has moved far away from the previous well designed and easy to read app at a glance. The upgrade has lost the original clear design and functionality. Another example of poor design at the expense of lost functionality.
Ridiculous
Ridiculous. Poor. Pointless!
The previous version was excellent so, at most, needed a tweak here or there.
Which idiot decided to press ahead and roll out this aberration???
Abysmal and virtually useless
I used to rely almost entirely on the Met Office app which was pretty good before and usually the most accurate. The updated version is a disaster, clunky, can’t properly locate me like before and no options to sort and personalise favourite locations. No written forecast and I can’t find pressure indicators or the long range forecast either. Dismal, am infuriated that I actually paid to remove ads (and before ad-free was free). Wish I’d kept the old one.
You named a storm Chandra
You named a storm Chandra. What the … is going on? Moon, calm, shining of Indian origin. Which member of staff was responsible for this disgraceful moniker?
Wrecked a previously brilliant app
Thought I'd add my voice to the barrage of disapproval. The Met Office have absolutely wrecked a previously brilliant app. Surely, with this much bad feedback they have to listen and scrap this new version. I tried for a few days and then uninstalled. It's hopeless.
