Don’t waste your time. I have gotten a couple of great experiences from this college, but most not so much. I’ve been able to connect with lots of lovely people in the industry and learn how to carry out all the beauty therapy treatments. We also have brand days, where brands come in and speak to us. However, this college is still not worth it.

We currently moved to a new building as of April 2025 and ever since it’s been chaotic. They promised us students it would be better and more organised due to different management but that was far from the truth.

NO PRIVACY! You can tell the facility was not initially a beauty college as we are not even able to have curtains in the room because of the “infrastructure” disallowing us to obtain them, therefore giving students constant anxiety of having to get almost completely undressed every treatment with no privacy or dignity and unable to do finals on outside clients as there is not enough privacy therefore being forced to do finals on each other.

The equipment is faulty, broken beds, faulty lamps and electrical machines. Ever since moving to the new building, we have no lockers for our stuff, not enough bins or lamps for each bed, always lacking supplies such as towels which is part of hygiene and health and safety, and also essentials for the treatment such as cotton pads, spatulas, skincare products, etc.

Very disorganised. If the lecturer isn’t in, we hardly do anything all day (bare in mind it’s 9 hours each college day), exams are constantly rescheduled and everything feels very uncertain as arrangements are always changing from week to week. The end date keeps changing for my course which happened last year also, and also no communcication throughout this course either. My exam results for Level 2 Beauty Therapy last year were not given to me until october 2025 (I finished in June) after being told we would get them the same time as A Level results, in time for the next school year if needed to apply somewhere else.

Don’t bother coming as this college has given me so much anxiety and has made me want to change field of study. The staff don’t seem committed and overall the college is chaotic. I have no idea how they got “Good” on their inspection results.

Theres many reasons why i would give this college 0 stars if i could. the only good thing was my lecturer but apart from that it is absolutely horrific.
heres a few reasons:

Wasn't open about UCAS points, I went into my level 3 believing if i did well in my course i would come out being able to go to uni, I at least thought i would get enough ucas points to do a foundation course, however a couple weeks after starting we found out we only get 32. This meant it was too late to change colleges/ courses. Many people left to do a paid online course so that they could go to university.

No communication about level 3 course being scrapped, this leads into my other point but we didn't know that the level 3 technical qualification we were supposed to be doing would be scrapped. This meant we had to do a diploma instead, however we were told it was “equivalent”. It definitely was not. As much as the content was quite similar, we came out of that diploma with no ucas points/ chance to go to further education.

Mislead on what the course entails, 2nd year we did no enrichment etc. our second year we went on absolutely no trips etc. we had one master class and that was it. Very different to our first year where we went on many trips and to many masterclasses.

Students got no help if they couldn't afford lunches. In my first year at LCBT if you were given a bursary you were given enough to get lunch too, however in my second year this wasn't an option. They only awarded you a bursary for travel which meant that people who couldn't afford lunches, struggled to keep up with the prices of food in central/ east london.

Results were held from us and there was no communication about it. Our 1st year results were given out just fine. However in our second year there was a lot of trouble. I still haven't received mine. We were meant to receive them on the same day as A-Level results, however it's now September and I still don't have mine. For some reason they are refusing to send us out our grades. They are waiting to send us our certificates even though we have a right to know what we got. For the lucky people who are actually able to go to university for makeup, they had to argue and email over and over again to fight for their results. They have finally gotten there which brings me to the conclusion that they 100% have our results and are just withholding them for some reason.

If you were sick once your bursary was cut. In my first year bursary was based on a 2 week period. Which meant that if you were really sick even once out of them 2 weeks, the next time you were meant to get your bursary you wouldn't be given any. Meaning that if you were throwing up etc, you were then punished and would struggle to afford to get to college in the next fortnight.

No help for students who can't afford to buy extra bits needed for exams (costumes, extra accessories etc that contributed to your grade). Part of many of our exams were how we brought our looks together, which meant bringing in costumes and accessories. However you would get no help with this, so like me if you didn't already have stuff at home that linked towards that theme and you didn't have the money to buy costumes, your grade would be affected.

No help with providing models, which wouldn't be that bad but for our course you couldn't use the same model more than a couple times so if you only had one person available for exam days you would struggle, and your lecturers didn't help supply any most of the time.

Limited progression routes {you can only go to unis that don't care about UCAS points} if you think you might ever want to go to uni or further your education then don’t pick this course/ college. I have to do another 2 years at a different college because the max UCAS points you can receive is 32. I was told when I was looking at this college before I even started that I would be able to go to university at the end. This isn't the case.

Often having no lecturer, as much as illnesses and emergencies are unavoidable, when your lecturer was off it was often a very disorganised, pointless day. Many days we would be left without a lecturer, a completely unqualified cover, or sometimes crammed into other classes without any actual real supervision. On these days, which were quite often, we literally had nothing to do and more than often just sat there.

In conclusion, I highly recommend you to not choose this college, you'll receive no support, and ultimately it's just a disaster.

Avoid LCBT – misleading, disorganised and stressful

I paid nearly £4,000 for the ITEC 19+ Level 3 Beauty Therapy Diploma at LCBT, and it has been one of the most stressful, disappointing experiences of my life. From the start, the course was completely disorganised: no uniforms, textbooks, or passes for weeks, locked out of classrooms, crammed 40+ students into small salons, and often left with cover teachers — sometimes no tutor at all.

Facilities were unsafe and unprofessional: broken beds, faulty lamps, crackling plug sockets, and constant shortages of essentials like cotton pads, towels, and skincare. Exams and mocks were cancelled or rescheduled at the last minute, and we even had to cancel external models for finals because the new building had no privacy, forcing us to use each other instead.

Our course didn’t include the Electrical Facials unit — essential for progression to Level 4. This was never explained at enrolment, and even staff failed to mention it when discussing future study. Only after complaints were raised was it offered separately, leaving us feeling misled and cheated.

LCBT’s glossy marketing promises state-of-the-art facilities, careers fairs, and workshops — we had none of this. Some classmates only found out about career events because they happened to speak to an advisor, while the rest of us were kept in the dark. Mental health in our group suffered badly, with many reducing work hours and income just to attend a course that caused constant anxiety.

On paper, LCBT might meet “standards,” but in reality this course was delivered in a chaotic, unsafe, and disrespectful way. If you’re considering enrolling, my honest advice is: Don’t waste your money.

PLEASE don't waste your time or money on London College Of Beauty Therapy. I started this college back in November last year and for the first month or two things were going well. Then in January our teacher left and the college did not tell us, as far as we were concerned she was unwell. But she had actually left so for two months we were without a teacher and we didn't learn a thing. We found out that she left when I tried to send an email to her and her email was no longer found at the college. Then one month later they decided to tell us that she had left. So for three months we had no education whatsoever we came in and did the same thing which was "practicing hair". We had asked and asked and asked about our class and were given no information or help with our course, we just had to come in and get on with whatever we had the equipment to do which was hardly anything. The kit for this cost £250 and I only used one item from it, and the course altogether was £5000. The staff are rude snobby and don't care about you unless you are blonde with a face full of make up. I ended up leaving just like the rest of my class did as we were so fed up and upset with the outcome. I went to this college hoping to leave with a certificate and start my journey as a makeup artist but it went so badly that I don't even want to be in that field of work anymore. Please do not consider this college as an option as the overall experience is terrible. The girls are rude and the "teachers" don't even know what they're doing. How they're still open is beyond me.

Turned up for a treatment, waited over an hour, because apparently the students went out for lunch, as their end of term exams had finished and so they couldn’t be bothered to come back!!!
There were two other women that arrived before me, and so they left.

When having a treatment the students in the next cubicle were swearing and were told off numerous times as they kept on repeating.

The student doing my treatment had no social skills and behaved as if she couldn’t be bothered.

It felt like an after school government youth scheme for rehabilitating offenders.

I absolutely love this college. My daughter attends and she has had the best week of her life ! Thank u for giving her this experience I’m sure mike cocks will love this college forever ❤️❤️❤️

I would actually give it 0 stars if possible! Avoid avoid avoid! Management is actually disgraceful, total negativity, defensive and amazed that she has been allowed to remain in her position. Attracts students who prefer to smoke weed in their breaks then learn, reduce tutors to tears and you will be lucky if anyone is still on the course by the end. Most students drop out week by week and are always late.

This college is absolutely dreadful, It was a mission to even chat to anyone about a course I was offered onto. I trued calling and emailing over 20 times to multiple email addresses and numbers and no one could give me any simple answers. All I wanted to know was more details about the course! Do not apply here!!!

Please don't apply here if you have reasonable adjustments. I applied last winter for the makeup artistry level 2, already studied makeup somewhere else previously and just wanted to advance my skills. It took them months for them to decide if there can accept me and made a drama of what needs I needed and there were unsure there could meet them. I'm a fully grown independent adult, I just have different learning needs. Then my start date in jan came and I was lied to that my course is now starting in the feb which it didn't. I didn't end up starting my course because of this as it past. I considered going to beauty therapy but some of the staff rudeness on differences put me off. No apologies for the stress. I just wanted to warn people.

I was bullied by management and lied about. Not a real college, just a private business, no accountability. Go to your local college where it is properly run.
I'm shocked this place is still running and ripping people off.

Not a college but a training provider.

No canteen.

Poor resources.

No term time.

Incompetent management has created a very stressful environment.

Unwilling students.

Some students are very challenging and don't do any work.

When I started this course I had high hopes for LCBT looking at the good reviews. However, to be frank this college is trash. They do not invest in the college, the products they use, the machines are 100 years old and the toilets are vile. The learners all have behavioural problems. And the management think they are better than everyone else. LCBT just wants money they don’t care about you or your future. The most upsetting thing is I don’t feel like I have learnt anything relating to the Beauty industry today. It’s so outdated. It being in such a central location I assumed it would have a bit of class but WOW was I wrong. I wouldn’t recommend this college to my big toe.

LCBT was a great introduction into the industry. I thought the college had good facilities with a welcoming atmosphere. I took the Level 2 & 3 Hair and Media Makeup course. The courses were taught by skilled tutors who have good industry experience, this gave me a variety of skills that I need to continue in the industry.

I have studied my level 2 hair and media makeup and am currently completing my level 3 theatrical makeup at The London College Of Beauty Therapy and I have loved every minute of it! My lectures have both been amazing in supporting me throughout the courses and pushing me to achieve the best results. Even through lockdown we were still able to do both the practical and theory elements of the course and make the most out of a bad time! I have learnt new skills which have enabled me to build a portfolio, getting me freelance work for bridal and evening makeup, and also allowing me to make my first step into the industry with a job on a makeup counter! Overall, I have loved studying at The LCBT and would highly recommend it to anyone looking to study here! 💗☺️

My time at LCBT was a rollercoaster! Having spent most of my time there tackling Covid 19, it was sure a challenge, but with the support from tutors and my class mates, my experience at this college was great! Having Nina Price as my level 2 tutor, (first year) was amazing! Going straight from school to the college environment was hard but Nina made sure she made everyone comfortable however still teaching us what we needed to learn. Nina was a very organised tutor and was always there to help, when needed. In my second year, I had Karis Doherty. As Karis had worked with so many amazing makeup artists in her lifetime, it was incredible when she would share her stories with us. Yet again a very talented tutor with amazing skills. I have definitely learnt a lot from working at LCBT and I highly recommend it. (Also, LCBT is based in a perfect location! Shops and food places galore!)
