AVOID AVOID AVOID. Full of scammers and escorts. If you do sign up make you you cancel straight away so they don't keep taking your money. And you have to message them to cancel, they don't make it easy

I initially posted my profile on ‘Illicit Encounters’ without paying to read/send messages. For eight weeks, i received around four ‘Alerts’ (new contacts) per day. Unfortunately, the senders were either in the wrong location for me, or the wrong age group.That wasn’t helped by the fact that women don’t have to pay to use the site and that attracts all sorts of nutters. Eventually, I amassed a handful of contacts and finally paid to read/send messages. As if by magic, my ‘Alerts’ instantly stopped and my existing contacts didn’t engage in any meaningful dialogue with me. Conclusion: An elaborate and well-conceived rip-off! Don’t get suckered into this site.

It is probably the only site that where I have found real people. OK there are lots of fake profiles and a few scammers but lots of real profiles.
The chat platform is a little old and sometimes goes on the blink but it works.
Always best to chat there for a while before going to a dedicated chat platform.
The one thing that I realised is that dating is really hard and people are real choosy but I spoke to lots of real people and met a few but chemistry is not guaranteed and you do get stood up just like you might using any site.

Only way to cancel subscription is by a convoluted opaque route. Contact IE when payment taken asap but they refuse to refund payment Site relies on subscriber inertia and imho is a scam. Do not touch with a bargepole

Im not sure why there are any negative reviews, the auto renewal is so easy to cancel, theres tons of members in the same situation as me, this site is great does exactly what it says it will do.

As a balding man in his fifties, dating sites aren’t exactly my forte. I’ve tried a couple before and after giving IE a go, it definitely felt like one of the better, and less risky, sites around. That said, it was a hard slog. The first time I upgraded, it was a total waste of time and money but that was probably down to me and the desperation I oozed in the messages I was sending. (I’d like to apologise to those women now who received any of my messages). Second time paying for a membership was slightly better and I did at least get to the coffee date stage a couple of times. Finally the third time I paid up, I met a fantastic lady and in the six months since we started to get to know eachother, I’ve come to realise just how unhappy I was in my homelife. So for that reason, I felt I needed to give IE some credit for the service they do provide. Meeting thiw woman on IE has been one of the best things to ever happen to me in the last 25 years. That said, I hope to never have to use them again 😂

I really like this site. OK, it's a bit pricey (for men, anyway), but then again, you get what you pay for. Once signed up, put some effort in and you'll get results. It takes time and patience, but it works.

Gripes here about fake profiles and shady business practises are unfounded. I've only some across one so far, and that was, if you like, 'ethical spam'. I reported it just now and they've already given me a support ticket. I imagine they'll get back to me tomorrow, it's late here.

As for the auto-renew business, that's all laid out in their FAQ. A simple Google search will find it, and do bear in mind that this practise is common in the industry (yep, I've been around).

So, in summary, an excellent, well run, and well targeted site, full of quality people (and a few lemons). Once you've found your feet, you won't want to go anywhere else. As for me, I have a hot weekend lined up, can't wait.

All good with this site. It is what it says and you will need to work at it but with endeavour and trust you can get results. As with all things it takes time. I had a lot of fun and would come back again just don't tell my wife!

Site OK, full of fakes but the odd one or two genuine. But beware of auo renewals. Site states they don't store your credit card details, makes you feel secure you are not going to be ripped off. Their 3rd party who handles payments stores your details and when you sign up the auto renew option isn't prominent, there is no option in the account to tell you you have auto renewal and payment just continues.

Site advertised as free and yet to do anything at all they want extortionate amounts of money. Total rip-off and received the usual barrage of 'people' trying to contact me within seconds of joining. Avoid at all costs, because it will cost!

This is my 3rd visit to IE.
It's been great getting to know people and fun meeting them too. I was looking for that one special (extra) person, but actually made some good friends on the way.
Thank you to the IE team for providing an excellent service.

This company does not bother to reply to problems of access to the site despite repeated requests. There are many bogus accounts.

Disappointing outcome.
I wasn't aware it was a subscription service,
needless to say no advance notification of monies taken from my account.
No interest on their part sorting out the problem once it had occurred.
Stay away, it is a scam

Sign-up is free and you'll get lots of initial attention with profile views, messages or gifts, but men can't read or reply to messages without joining, after which all the attention dries up.
A lot of the female profiles appear to be auto-written, which is off-putting and tells you very little about these individuals, their circumstances and what they are looking for.
It's expensive - I paid £199 for a three month membership, which appeared to be a one-off. However, the small print says that they'll auto-renew (£99 a month) anyway unless you contact them.
With a bit of effort it is possible to chat and meet people, but the site is clunky/dated and IE just seem to be out to make money.

Rip off and be warned (unlike me).

Firstly, you will get messages as soon as you create a profile. The messages will soon dry up.

The moment you consider cancelling or voice any issue to admin, messages will start coming through again.

There are definitely admin operated accounts to keep you hooked to the illusion that women are responding/messaging you. These accounts are pics of attractive women with pixelated faces (always) but never a private gallery. Also their responses don’t always tally up with the messages received and go silent, until you kick off about cancelling your membership.

There are real women on the platform but 30% want a sugar daddy. Most of the rest are distinctly mid (self described chubby etc…) but spoilt for choice with male users so only entertain you if you a top 10% in looks on the site (tall etc…). A proportion of users only exist to troll you, soaking up the validation that 100s of DMs provide them and objectively rude/have no interest in actually engaging with a man.

I tried to get a refund. Even only a partial refund 2 days in to using the site as a premium user after realising but was denied.

I’m considering doing a chargeback. But in summary be warned, if you’re in the UK and can make it past the fake accounts and seemingly admin operated accounts, if you’re not a bloke that gets looks from women when you walk down the street, just don’t bother. Also if you happen to be an ethnic minority, especially don’t bother.

This site is a complete rip off, I think nowadays it’s a set up by the website themselves as you get messages and then they vanish on you plus loads of fakes and scammers
What I found really interesting was that when I cancelled my account and removed all payment details, suddenly I start getting tons of messages which tells me the whole thing is a set up just to get your money

IE has been great for me. Although not everyone replies to messages those that did were genuine and real. More importantly I did meet a few members and they were lovely. As long as everyone is respectful and understanding then this site works well and you will be able to meet someone, as I did.
I was lucky enough to find a lovely lady and we meet regularly and even been on holiday together. When we join we all hope to find our match and perhaps sail/drive/walk off into the sunset holding hands and smiling. Luckily for us we did (we actually took a plane!).
If you are hesitating joining, thinking you won't find what you want, or believe that all members are fake then don't, as my experience says that you can be successful.

The company uses underhanded tactics to get men to sign up. Within moments of signing up you will receive a gift from someone. Hold off for a bit on paying for the upgrade and you will receive another message but to view it, you’ll need to upgrade. I’ve experimented three times with three seperate profiles and it happens each time. Which leads me to believe these teaser profiles are operated by admin.

Then it is either FOMO takes over and you upgrade to see the messages you have received or you leave it.

Thereafter messages will dry up. Don’t get me wrong, there are genuine women there looking for a connection but the numbers of genuine women who aren’t hookers or women looking for their rent to be paid is limited and unless you’re objectively in the top 10% of men, your chances are slim.

We all know even an objectively ‘ugly’ woman can still get laid but an objectively ’ugly’ man doesn’t stand a chance

So my advice is don’t bother and find another means of having an affair.
