Ok so the kitchen itself now looks great.
Now let me explain why I give them 1 star and any non-tradesperson beware.
1.) Howdens 'trade only' policy.
My fitter never stepped foot in Howdens with regards to the choice of kitchen, arranging the survey and design nor returning and collecting incorrect items. This however didnt stop Howdens giving me my quote and subsequantly charging me the lions share of £7000 and then booking it out to my fitter at a far reduced cost allowing him to basically steal £1300 of my money, not to mention the fact that i'd paid 20% VAT on a kitchen that was booked out at far less cost to the fitter and thus less VAT which the builder will claim back on his tax return next year. Something very fishy about that and I will be asking the question to HMRC and taking legal advice.
2. The Irish chap (no names allowed) that carried out the survey neglected to measure the floor to ceiling height thus causing major problems during the fitting and of course additional cost. He was also conspicuous in his absence when I wanted to raise these matters and also ignored my request for him to come and double check his measurements before the install began. Needless to say no floor to ceiling height being 1 problem and the breakfast bar section being more than 100mm incorrect being a 2nd. 2 issues with measurements being incorrect may seem trivial, but believe me they are not.
3. Never been given a receipt for the several thousands of pounds he happily took from my bank account and still after requesting again its nowhere to be seen.
Howdens being completely to blame for the process. I personally wouldnt buy/authorise a single thing from them ever again for works being carried out on my property, absolute shysters......UPDATE 15/12/2025
Recieved a lazy bog standard our terms and conditions blah blah from the seemingly oblivious manager at Greenford. He seems to be having a huge amount of difficulty understanding that I and I alone contacted Howdens, dealt with his designer agreed the plan and everything else NOT MY B***DY FITTER! The fitter never had a single thing to do with the purchase or design he was a completely different aspect of the saga. I paid using a debit card to your designer and therefore Howdens the price of the kitchen and in the eyes of the law that makes me, yes ME yoir customer in this transaction. He never stepped foot in your branch or discussed MY kitchen with any member of your staff at all not even once nada nil zero. He fitted the B***DY thing as thats what I EMPLOYED HIM TO DO! So just because your terms blah blah state blah blah they mean nothing when you did actually allow a member of the public to purchase a kitchen, ME. It doesnt give you the right to misapropriate peoples money and pay it into somebodys trade account so as you can then sell my kitchen to them at a reduced rate just because at some point in time they purchased something from you. THEY HAD NOTHING TO DO WITH THE PURCHASE! Anyway i've now emailed the CEO lets see if he has any ability to be able to work out that MY FITTER didnt purchase the kitchen It was I, ME , MOI. Anyway chargeback to the card coming and a lawsuit where i'll be seeking costs and damages now too.

So the CEO couldn't care less either which was what I expected seeing as the caliber of employee hasnt exactly set the world alight. Anyway the legal process has commenced, they've received the notice of impemding legal action from my solictor and have 14 days to respond. I shall keep you updated.

They keep having my review removed for various reasons. So here it is once more though ever so slightly changed i.e i've had to remove the bit mentioning about there possibly being other companies in the same sort of business about who aren't so shady, something to hide?
Also sent them over some rather damning evidence yesterday and copied in the CEO and would you believe his secretary actually responded to me! On a Sunday! Are we getting the full picture now Howdens, not the coloured in bit your branch gave you. Lieing to your CEO is brutal....no respect from the bottom of the ladder to the top. Shambles of a mob.
UPDATE 07/01/2026***
Howdens legal department requested a 7 day extension to the notification period so they could liaise with the neccessary departments again. Laughably still pinning their hopes on 1 e-mail containing 2 sentences that saydabsolutely nothing about the issue im suing them about. Being reasonable i've allowed this and they now have until the 14th January to respond before the claim is lodged.

I have wanted a new kitchen for a long time, so wanted to make sure I got it right. I had a number of different companies giving me quotes and designs.
Zoe Davies from Howdens, Greenford did the best design and price by far. Zoe got to know me, my lifestyle and my wishes for the kitchen. She was always on hand for any questions, big or small. Her attention to detail was amazing.
The quality of the kitchen units is really excellent. The units are very solid, with great hinges on the doors. There is a lot of choice of colours, doors, sinks, taps etc. We chose the sage green.
This kitchen has been worth waiting for!
