Hi my name is Kathy Colkitt, I'm a branch manager loan officer for 30 years. Unfortunately 3 years ago is when I heard about Homes for Heroes, meaning I would have done at my entire career had I realized not only it was away for me to give back It would also mean how many hundreds probably thousands of heroes I would have been able to have helped in the mortgage process. I've always been a person who gives and I thoroughly love giving back to heroes, going to fire stations talking visiting seeing how their life is, police officers in a store out in their car or at a union meeting and sharing the free benefit that they have as a way to say thank you. Paying $2,000 a year upfront for absolutely no leads (because they don’t have any) is a waste. On top of that, you’re expected to rely on outdated marketing strategies from the 1960s, focusing on ‘building relationships’ and promoting a cause like helping heroes. While supporting heroes is important, you don’t need to pay $2,000 a year to do it. You can easily create professional 6x9 glossy postcards or flyers on Canva and offer discounts on your own terms.

On top of the membership fees, you lose 30% of your hard-earned commission, and they take $700 for every $100K of the home price while pocketing the rest. It’s a for-profit company where even the great employees are poorly treated and undercompensated for their efforts.

I filled out a form on Facebook to be contacted by this company regarding my interest to buy a home. I was sent a text message asking me to call a number to get information. I sent a reply asking them for information on their Cash Rebate and Interest Rates and was told by a representative that they "didn't work this way and that I had to actually speak to someone or I would receive no information." He wished me luck and have not heard back from this individual. Pretty Shady if you ask me!
