I had the baby back ribs at the Hickorys in Solihull on Saturday night, it's Monday and there is still some lingering on, they were neither tender or even soft, chewy and hard work, not what you expect from an expensive place to eat, the Hickorys in West Kirby is much, much better!!

Well we've been here over the last 8 years or so. Wether it be West Kirby or Chester we've always had a good experience. Today was super special. Ethan and Katie in Chester thank you so much for how you treated us. Katie you were funny, humble and made us laugh. Ethan, bless you, my MIL loved getting behind the bar with you and making the cocktail was so much fun. You spent so much time with us and you remembered us from our last trip in may. Thank you both, you're an absolute credit to your company. Our afternoon was so much better because of you both. If you want to open up in Kent, send these 2 down to sort it out and pay them more!!!

Really good staff, really good food, respectful kind helped me with anything i needed, could't ask for more!

The floor was so slippery that I fell as being shown to my table. The manager (presumed so as he was at the desk) did come over to help me up and with a quick, "are you ok", he disappeared. The young waiter was more concerned. Another of my party asked to see the manager at the end of our meal, and a different guy came over. On being told that the food was good, as was the service, one person in our party had fallen and several others found the floor very slippery. His reaction? "Will take it on board and show you out." I wrote to Hickory's about the reaction from the managers, but have not had a reply. Maybe I should have sued Hickory's for my injury (bruised and tender hip) and maybe then they would have acknowledged me! Got the feeling that nobody was really bothered.

Update .. got a call from General Manager of Gloucester Hickory's in the afternoon of the day I wrote this review on Trustpilot. Had to give lots of details to enable him to create an incident report, which hadn't been done when the incident happened. He did seem genuinely concerned and promised to investigate with staff on duty on the night of the incident and get back to me. That was a week ago, and heard nothing from him.

The general manager never got back to me as he said he would. Deduce that he called for personal details to complete an incident report which had not been done at the time. Perhaps I should have sued and Hickory's Gloucester might have cared then!

I’m here at hickory’s derby with my family, we have waited over an hour to be taken to a table we had booked , then we waited another 44 minutes for the food ,the service has been terrible , no one came to see if we wanted drinks etc when the food finally came it was very disappointing , so we won’t be staying for desserts and we won’t be coming again

The service wasn't too bad, attentive and polite server, food came quickly enough, a bit difficult to catch someone for refills of water or clear the table; so they get 2 stars for ambience and service.
I ordered ribs; there was more bone than meat and although I don't mind chewing it off the bone, you'd expect it to fall off? I must of ordered the wrong kind of sauce because it wasn't very nice.
Now everything on the menu comes with fries; it's American, you'd expect that; normal skin on, extra spicy, cheesy, curry & fries; but I don't eat potatoes normally and I asked our server if they did an alternative? Sweet potato fries are normally a good alternative; no. "Anything else?" I asked; no. So I ended up with ribs that contained not even a McD hamburger of meat and "slaw" that was bitter because it only had white cabbage in it!! ( I gave my chips to one of my dining companions).
The milkshake was nice, but like everything else it's overpriced for what it was.
Then, to top it off, there's 7.5% added on the bill without any notification before hand!
This was my first time visiting, I was warned it was expensive, but I looked forward to those Southern special ribs all day!! 😕

Very attentive service, almost too much. Glad to see staff valued and that they feel good about working at the restaurant. The only thing that stops 5 star review is that the food whilst good could be improved, particularly the brisket and the milkshakes which were ridiculously expensive at £9 ( yes NINE quid each) and not very good. Also not keen on service being included at 7.5%. Ironically I would have left 10% had I been asked.

Pretty surprised to see the 3.9 rating, to be honest. My son and I went to Hickory's Hutton (Preston) this evening and it was so good I'm writing a review! THE most attentive and friendly staff I've ever experienced whilst dining out. The food (and beer) was fantastic and the atmosphere was great. Kudos to the management team for recruiting first rate staff and praise to the staff for being awesome. Absolutely loved everything about it.

The staff and their service at Hickory's in Poynton is impeccable! Each and everyone of them was so attentive, friendly and always happy to help. I don't think we've ever experienced a better service in a pub/restaurant. Really a wonderful staff!

Our first visit today to Hickory’s Lincoln and our last. We arrived on time and we entered the building. We were stood for at least 5 minutes with numerous staff walking past and not one of them acknowledged us. Not even a smile or “ someone will be with you shortly “ nothing. Doesn’t seem long but definitely long enough to make that first impression disappointing. I’m afraid to say it didn’t redeem itself. We were asked to wait in the bar because our table wasn’t ready. Another 10 minute wait for our table.
Five of us in all (4 adults 1 child) ordered food. Reasonable wait time for food, two burgers , two ribs and kids chicken popcorn meal.
Burgers where ok but we’ve had better. Ribs were awful, had to use a steak knife to cut the meat off the bone. Now we have tried ribs at another local restaurant and theirs fall off the bone. Which is how good ribs should be.
After we had finished we were sat with a table full of dishes for such a long time. We had to go get someone to order an ice cream and ask for the table to be cleared. We paid our bill and then realised a service charge had been added without anyone making this clear. Service charge is optional and we would not of paid it had we been made aware.
Overall bad service, disappointing food and definitely overpriced.

Visited Hickory's Wrexham yesterday and couldn't have been more pleased. From the first greeting to the farewell the staff couldn't have been more helpful and pleasant. The food was superb with big portions, the hot wings especially. A little pricey but the portion size made it good enough value. Good beer too!

We visited Hickorys in Shrewsbury. They were amazing, and the food was excellent. It was also my adult son's birthday, and they gave him a cake with a large sparkler and sang along with us. My grandson was duly impressed. He informed us, 'We would be coming back again as it was the best restaurant he had ever visited.' They had also thought about the children's experience that would be attending, and their menu reflected that, too.

I would like to thank Eleanor from all of us on Saturday night she is an asset to your company i brought my granddaughter for her 10th birthday but also my special needs granddaughter who is 16 all that i can say was nothing was too much trouble for her. we did have a table in side but it was too noisy so they found us a table outside which was ideal excellent service all the way round thank you Eleanor

I went to the Huddersfield Hickory, The food was fine, but the table got cleared before we finished the last bit,
and why do they put £5.75 tip on the bill, its up to me if I want to tip, Cheeky way they have,
at £69.00 for me and son is enough, for the dinner a platter is only cheap meats, but not complaining about the taste, and service was good

Service at Lincoln Hickorys was bad. Our drinks order was forgotten, kept having to ask for more water - but getting a server to notice was a problem. First water was nicely chilled, next 2 just straight from the tap. No name badge on server. No dress code for servers, didn't know which were staff. Plenty of birthday celebrations going on, but was disappointed that all they got was a doughnut with squirty cream and a few sprinkles, plus a sparkler, lackluster happy birthday remdition, didn't bother asking us who it was they were singing to. Food was good, but severely overpriced, £190 for 5 people! One round of drinks only. Plus may be just me, but couldn't manage with just a fork. Ribs were too tough to separate, fork was just not doing it. Not for me, sorry, can not recommend. Oh, and the tip was automatically added to the bill, this is England, we like to decide ourselves whether to tip and how much.

We have been to the Adel restaurant four times now as it is very local. While the food concept sounds good, the implementation is not great. Not having been to the USA, I cannot compare, but I am sure they would not approve. Quantity over quality seems to be the motto, and if all else fails, add salt.
Surroundings—They have spent a lot of money upgrading the whole restaurant, and it needed it. It has an American theme, kind of like TGI Friday.
The restaurant replaced a very rundown standard pub, but the food was classic pub food at low prices.

The details:
Main food—Overpriced and oversalted/seasoned. The American cheese is not great. Across my four visits, I had two burgers (finished half of it after taking it apart), the salmon (needs chips, not tots) and the shrimp lunch deal was half eaten. All had the same problem of being overseasoned, killing any natural flavour of the main bits. Has anybody tried to eat the food? Can they dislocate their jaw? Everything had to be diss-assembled. They were also generally cooked too long, making them dry and hard.
Desserts - waffles on two visits. Both times, they were dry/overcooked and probably about 4k calories. I tried to look, but the menu sends you a wild goose chase.
Drinks - very well made. I would recommend them!
Veggie options are nonexistent. Granted, it's a smokehouse, but it has replaced a classic pub, making it unusable for vegetarians and vegans. I did not try the breakfast as I dreaded the portion size.
I do not doubt that people will miss the point of this review. I want it to succeed, but you need to look at the menu and how it's cooked. We are too polite as a nation to give you direct, honest reviews.
Kids—We took my 10-year-old, and she tried four different things and stopped halfway through. Each time, she had the same complaint as us: way too much salt, and where was the salad (like they teach them in school!)?
Now that the novelty has worn off, we have concluded that it's not for us and are unlikely to return.
We gave it a few goes, but when I can cook better at home, there really is no point. The average cost is £25 for a main and drink. There is a tip on top for the staff, who all seem to be nice.
There are two meat-eaters (Adults), two fish/veggie (Adults), and a 10-year-old. Cinema and popcorn are nice touches for the kids.
If you sorted the food out, it would be a winner in Adel.

Visited Hickory’s West Kirby. Fantastic experience from start to finish. All the staff were friendly and very welcoming. Had a wonky table and the waitress fixed it, even getting on her hands and knees! Very attentive service but not over the top. Nothing was too much trouble. We had a variety of dishes ranging from Pasta, Ribs, Burgers, Fish and Fajitas and each one was delicious. Will definitely visit again.

Visited this place many times and the food is always absolutely spot on and always friendly service. I visited today with a work colleague and the service we received was second to none, unbelievable service, friendly, food was delicious and we was also invited on a tour of the kitchen to see how the food is cooked and how the meat is smoked. Special shout out to Ryan for the unbelievable customer service and arranging that tour for us. Will without a doubt be Visiting again soon.
