We were concerned that the new model hob might not fit the old space, but James seemed quietly confident and, of course, was right, much to our relief. You seem to have a great team at Woolacotts and for our part, it'll be good to be able to cook on more than one ring again... :-)

My father bought a good quality TV from the reputable local firm HBH Woolacotts and can only give them every praise in the book....Being 90 my father needs a certain amount of necessary patience on phone calls having had a stroke several years back now and whilst he still is in pretty much good reasonable health now, having the excellent back-up team of HBH is invaluable 2him....as I say the help team is very thorough and understanding, generally leaving no query unanswered or resolved. I rang one of the team myself called Sam and he was an absolute delight 2deal with, sorting everything out....Thank you to both Sam and the very highly rated local South-West firm HBH Woolacotts once again, appreciate your time and efforts....10/10 Ty, Charlie L :)

I have been a customer of HBH Woolacotts for more than 20 years and during that time have purchased several televisions and other products from them, which is why this experience has been particularly disappointing.
In December 2014 I purchased a Panasonic TX-65AX802B television from them for approximately £3,000. This was a flagship model at the time and I believe it is reasonable to expect a premium television at that price point to last significantly longer than just over five years.
When the television developed a fault shortly after the five-year warranty expired, I contacted the company to discuss the issue. Their engineers had previously removed the television from the wall during the warranty period and the matter was discussed with the store not long after the warranty expired.
Over the following years I attempted to resolve the issue. While the company did offer a discount on a future purchase, I did not feel this addressed the underlying concern regarding the durability of a £3,000 television. I recently collected the TV from the store after it had been held there for a considerable period, and the company ultimately declined to offer any goodwill resolution.
Although the fault first arose several years ago, the matter has only recently concluded following my collection of the television and final correspondence with the company.
This was particularly frustrating as I have also experienced issues with another flagship television purchased from the store which cost approximately £7,000 and developed a fault very shortly after purchase. In that case the process to resolve the issue was quite lengthy and I was directed towards the long-term warranty provider rather than the matter being handled directly through the store. Although a loan television was offered, it unfortunately could not be arranged at the time due to COVID restrictions, which meant I was without a television for a significant period.
From my personal experience with several high-end televisions over the last 20 years, I have found that modern premium TVs do not appear to last as long as earlier models. For that reason, the level of after-sales support offered by the retailer becomes extremely important.
Unfortunately, based on my experience in this case, I did not feel the level of customer service reflected what I would expect after spending many thousands of pounds over many years.
For comparison, I have also purchased high-end televisions from Richer Sounds and have personally found their after-sales support to be very good when issues arose.
Others may of course have different experiences, but after more than two decades as a customer I had hoped this matter could have been handled more sympathetically.
My advice to anyone purchasing a high-end television is to consider not only the product itself but also the level of after-sales support offered by the retailer.
Update 11/03/26: In response to the company’s comment below:
Dear Chris,
Thank you for your response. I would like to clarify a few points.
With regard to the 77″ television, the matter was not resolved promptly. The process took several months to reach a resolution through the warranty provider, during which time I was without a television. A loan TV was offered, however due to COVID restrictions and the fact that my partner was shielding, it was not possible for us to accept this.
Regarding the 65″ Panasonic television (Panasonic TX-65AX802B), this was purchased in December 2014 with a five-year warranty expiring in December 2019. The fault developed around that time and I reported it to the store shortly afterwards, rather than many years later.
For a television that originally cost around £3,000, I do not think it is unreasonable to expect a longer lifespan than around five years.
The option offered was not a fixed discount or voucher, but a discount tied to a future purchase. In earlier correspondence you stated:
“As a gesture of goodwill I would be prepared to offer a discounted purchase of a new TV… I could also keep an eye out as we do get second-hand TVs returned via trade-ins and look to do a discounted purchase should one become available.”
As this depended on a future purchase decision, it did not resolve the underlying issue. The television remained with the store because I was dissatisfied with the proposed resolution and intended to pursue the matter further. Unfortunately ongoing health issues relating to long-COVID made it difficult for me to pursue the matter as actively as I otherwise would have done.
I appreciate that some assistance was offered, however in my view the options presented did not fairly resolve the situation. My review reflects my personal experience as a long-standing customer attempting to resolve the matter.

Excellent service from the Plymouth store.

Darren the sales guy was very informative and helpful and gave good advice. We purchased a TV which they delivered free and even took my old TV away. From someone who always used to turn to Currys as my first port of call for electics etc - I will now be switching to HBH Wollacotts.

Unfortunately when unpacked we found that the freezer door had been damaged so I emailed to advise that we would be returning it for exchange. At 3pm on Sunday afternoon (yes!) I received a very polite phone call to apologise and advise that they would collect the damaged one and bring a replacement. Sure enough, 9.30 on Monday the lads arrived at our house and it was job done in five minutes. One simply couldn't ask for more. Well done Woolacotts.

We ordered a dehumidifier from there on line store in place of a tumble drier to dry the clothes as this seems to be the new modern way instead of a tumble drier and I must say it works really well .
There Customer service used emails and telephone calls to keep us informed with the process of the delivery from arranging the date to the delivery and so forth.
We keep returning for our household electrical items instead of the bigger chains because each time we have made a purchase weather it.was our fridge freezer or other another electrical item . We have never had any issues with staff, service or product quality and price.
So thanks and no doubt when the time arises we will be back for whatever else is needed.

Excellent After Service.
Whilst we were disappointed that our 14 month old Freezer ( purchased from the St Austell branch ) decided it would defrost. I made a call to Woollcott's service department, just before 10 AM. Very helpful staff, took the salient details, soon after I received a call back advising the engineer would be with us early afternoon. True to their word, engineer arrived and was able to resolve the issue.
To anyone considering buying on-line from out of county, just remember these guys are local, but provide great after service. Highly recommended

Bought tumble dryer and washing machine both grey.one turned up white .we then got grey one only to be told by delivery man u got what u wanted grey very sarcasticly. We had to chase £50 dusvountvwecwere told we would get fir machine being store model. Then told they don't ever offer that. The sales girl lied when we confronted her. I just feelbtheyvr very young and rude and need more experienced staff. We spent a lot of money there. Only to deeply regret it.

Service was good but should explain hidden charges to your customers mum paid an extra £30 to have the doors swapped over so I did it myself and told mother to contact them to get a refund please don't expect a 84 yr old to know how to Go on a website to change doors disgusted at that

Had a new blue ray dvd player and soundbar delivered and installed today 5/01
Was a little bit hesitant as didn't think it would replace what I already had ( but had stopped working) so I saw Ben and explained what I needed probably about 4 times he assured that what i wanted would work, so I bought it,
It was delivered today and im so pleased, the 2 men who installed it were excellent sorry didn't get name but thank you very much and with the wires as well

Superb response from my purchase I made online. Rang in minutes to arrange delivery . Options to pay extra for installation but we did ours ourself . However when we had a question the super friendly helpful delivery guys were happy to answer .

Received a true 5 star service from both Woolacotts Barnstaple and Woolacotts Bude.
Ben was an extremely professional sales advisor in the new Barnstaple branch who made me feel welcomed and was not at all pushy. The store are able to give Blue Light Card discounts and or price match.
Robert and Robin were my delivery team from the Bude branch. Again this was a first class service. Polite and professional in the removal of the old appliance and the fitting of the new one.
100% recommend Woolacotts above other electrical providers.

Bought an expensive TV £1200 from them . To begin with they were great delivery was good and we loved the TV
However after 6 weeks the TV kept turning off spontaneously and then resetting
Phoned the company who informed us that they wouldn’t replace it as it was over 4 weeks since purchase . They would take it away and replace it with another TV to look at the problem.
They couldn’t guarantee the quality of the temporary TV
All over Christmas this is not acceptable and it’s only 6 weeks old . I’m unimpressed with after sales
Another purchase at the Plymouth store yesterday. Absolutely impeccable service, very helpful and courteous staff and an excellent range of products.
After sales service has always been available, with prompt support when needed. Why go anywhere else?

Lovely sparkly new showroom at Barnstable was an absolute delight to visit. The staff are all knowledgeable and helpful. We came in for a TV and are really happy that we chose the one that is right for us with the help of a really great sales person.
