Born in a car park in the heart of the West End, we replaced cars, bikes and vans with nightly resident DJs, neon lights and dancers. We reset the fitness industry. It was easy to say, there was no other fitness space like this. Exercise blended perfectly with pleasure. You could be anyone you wanted to be. Be any shape you happened to be. 10/10 every time

Love this gym so much! Use the one at bank the most and think it’s the best gym in the whole of London. The yoga classes are very high quality and the staff are extremely approachable. Every GYMBOX gym I’ve been to has been a 10/10 experience.

The classes are great and the people…

The classes are great and the people are nice but once you have joined, the biggest failing gym box has is on communication.

I don't seem to get any response from them despite having the direct details of the contact person whom I initially interacted with.
It seems gym box are only concerned with communication with customers to register for membership and only response in that aspect, once you signed up they don't care.

Furthermore in relation to strike rules, they don't necessarily investigate or read emails, they just ban you. I missed two classes one in the midday and after work. I received an email about this to which I responded for the circumstances I was ill and had to go home and only realised late afternoon about the classes. Again no acknowledgement or response and in my third classes I was bit late but again I have been banned on the three strikes rules.

Gymbox should seriously investigate and improve on their communication, it's not just about signing up but it's also about maintaining your current customers too.

An excellent gym

An excellent gym lots of high quality classes, amazing facilities and generous student discount. Really worth the money for those willing to invest in their health.

Cold showers

Very disappointed in the lukewarm shower temperatures, especially as the weather is cooling, and the lack of conditioner everyday. Staff can be dismissive at times. Good range of equipment though and I do like the sauna.

Dear Gym Box,

I have been a member at Gym Box Stratford for almost two months now. Overall, I’ve had a positive experience, especially due to the friendly and positive attitude of your staff. However, I am writing to express my concerns regarding the cleanliness of the gym, which has recently become quite disappointing.

Today, I was forced to leave the gym due to the poor conditions. The gym is often crowded, and unfortunately, many members do not seem to care about maintaining the cleanliness of public areas. As a member, I expect your cleaning team to be more proactive in maintaining the facility.

I noticed that the floors were littered with hair, and the amenities, including the bathroom in the ladies' changing area, were dirty. It is your responsibility to provide a clean and hygienic environment for your members, and I hope you will address this issue promptly.

The best gym in town. Impeccable.

I went there just to walk through and have some look and I got really amazed with the machines, facilities and the amount of diverse classes. I ended up enrolling. Clean changing room, always. Very friendly members of staff at reception and I had a real pleasure dealing with Olivia.

Great gym, but scores own-goal by playing music way too loud

Great club overall - lots of space and equipment - nice changing room - super friendly staff.

I know ridiculously loud DJ music has been part of your brand identity since the get-go. But times have changed: People care more about keeping their hearing intact, and the proliferation of smartphones means we listen much more to our own music these days. Your playlists are great, so I don’t mind some BACKGROUND music, but I HATE it when you BLAST out music TOO LOUD. It prevents me talking to other gym users, plus it’s triggering decibel warnings on my health app, so it can’t be good for anyone’s hearing. We'd enjoy your gym even more, if you turned the DJ down a little!

Friendly reception, excellent class instructors

The reception team always greet you and make the effort to say goodbye as you exit and are really friendly and smiley.
The classes are excellent, even when there is a cover instructor rather than a regular instructor.
The towels don't smell great but that's the same for many big gyms in London.

Don't bother. Save yourself the hassle and the money

I joined Gymbox with high expectations, given its reputation as a premium gym and the significant cost of membership. Unfortunately, my experience has been far from satisfactory, and I feel compelled to share my disappointment.

To begin with, the management at Gymbox is notably unprofessional and unresponsive. They display a blatant disregard for their members, and once they have secured your payment, you become just another number to them. This lack of customer care is disheartening, especially when you are paying a premium price.

While the gym itself is well-equipped and aesthetically pleasing, there are persistent issues that tarnish the overall experience. Frequently, essential amenities such as music, air conditioning, and towel delivery are non-functional. These recurring problems undermine the 'premium' service that Gymbox claims to offer. For a membership costing over £100 per month, such lapses are inexcusable, and the absence of any form of compensation only adds to the frustration.

I would not recommend Gymbox to anyone. The quality of service does not match the high fees, and the hassle of dealing with an indifferent management team makes it not worth the money. Save yourself the trouble and look elsewhere for a gym that values its members and delivers on its promises.

it’s all a SCAM

I’ve been a loyal member of Gymbox at Elephant and Castle since March 2022. I’ve always loved the gym and never missed a payment, despite being on a month-to-month contract that I could have canceled at any time. Unfortunately, my recent experience has left me extremely disappointed.
Due to significant financial difficulties, I requested to cancel my membership start of June, 2024, with the hope of rejoining in a few months when my situation improved. Despite following the necessary procedures, Gymbox attempted to charge me £82 in both June and July, even though I clearly communicated that I could not afford the payments and needed to cancel my membership.
Fortunately, I managed to stop these charges by canceling my direct debit in time. However, Gymbox is now trying to charge me £117 via debt collectors for a period during which I haven’t used the gym at all. This is incredibly frustrating, especially since I have been a committed member for over two years.
According to Citizens Advice, “The Competition and Markets Authority advises that a gym contract is unfair if it doesn’t let a member cancel because they’ve had a change in circumstances which means they can’t afford the membership.” Despite this, Gymbox has failed to acknowledge my situation and continues to pursue these unjustified charges.
I’m really disappointed that what was once my favorite gym has become such a source of stress. I hope that Gymbox can address this issue, as this experience is really putting me off from returning.

Really enjoying GymBox and my wife and I have made use of both the classes and the actual gym.

Francesca showed us around as we wanted more info and have a look at the gym, everything was explained to us and she showed us every part of both gym locations (just a few doors away). She showed us the timetable for the classes and explained all the different classes. She explained everything really clear and without her showing us around I'm not sure we would have signed up.

Classes
So many classes to choose from and both my wife and I have not had any issues getting booked on. Even if we wanted to go last minute. Having the ability to attend unlimited classes is a luxury as many other gyms seem to have a limit.

The app is really easy to use and you can see how many spaces are left. You can book on at 10am 3 days before so as long as you are organised I can't imagine you ever having an issue booking on.

The classes are varied and vast and put on throughout the day so there's no issue if I want to go before, during, or after work. The spin classes are some of the best I've been to and the equipment is basically all brand new.

The gym
I've only been early morning but I've never had an issue with it being overcrowded. There are plenty of free weights, benches, cardio machines, and many many other bits of kit and equipment to fit your needs. I've not seen a better stocked gym before and the changing rooms and showers are always clean.

Overall I am very happy with GymBox, compared to other gyms in the area the cost is reasonable and you get a lot for your money (unlimited classes, home workouts, and use of a large gym)

STAY AWAY FROM THEM, SCAMMERS, SHADY BUSINESS

They are absolute scammers. So when I signed up for the gym visit before buying the membership a lady called me after few hours and coerced me into this membership which is 12 months. The main purpose of me joining the gym was for muythai classes and then came out that if you want to take some part (sparring) of it you need to pay additional money which is very shady and I was very disappointed hence cancelled the membership. Now theu sent me email stating that I had to pay them the full year and because I cancelled my direct debit they will pass my details to the debt collectors.

Their staff is incompetent and extremely rude and unhelpful. Especially the reception manager at Elephant and castle branch that I dealt with she is so full of herself that she have no patience to listen to quieres. Absolutely shameless!

When asked for a receipt for payments made they saying that I have to request it in a separate process which I have done and still waiting for a receipt for payments made.

This company was previously knows as Sparring company and due to the high level of bad reviews they newly incorporated as Gymbox.

Please report if similar incidents occur to you to the local council and they might take a collective class action suit against them considering people's welfare. I have known cases where action has been taken on scammers like these by the local council if actions of these patterns are repeated
