Don’t use Grasshopper!
Their SMS registration process is an absolute nightmare! I’ve been rejected about four times now , been trying to get this done for about a month with no success . This has negatively affected my business because now I cannot even text message my customers
I switched over to OpenPhone and was able to register through their SMS program. I started text messaging campaign, same day! 0 rejections
I’m so happy I switched over. Grasshopper had many flaws. One of the most frustrating ones was the hidden fees and lack of comunication about billing.
My experience with Grasshopper left me feeling taken advantage of and misled. At times I felt like I was being scammed.
OpenPhone is a better price aswell. I highly recommend everyone switching over. Don’t waste your time with Grasshopper.

Used this service for a year
Used this service for a year. Without any courtesy notice, Grasshopper simply renewed the account for a dramatically higher price. When I complained, they told me I could stop the renewal from happening A YEAR FROM NOW. And then, they removed the "alias" phone number after keeping $400+ for renewal. Do not use this service.

Grasshopper is AWFUL
Grasshopper is AWFUL! I have gone through the process of setting up SMS for my small business with them MULTIPLE times. Every time, they have me change the wording of my submission and privacy policy. I do exactly what they ask and I get declined. They tell me every time that it will work this time if I make they changes they suggest. I need texting for our two short term rentals. It's not for spamming or excessive texts. I have spent months waiting each time and around two hours per call while we make the changes on my website. I cannot express how UNhappy I am with this service!
By the way, I do NOT post bad reviews but this has been going on for three months now.
2/19/25 This has only gotten worse. Grasshopper customer service is a joke. I tried to port my number to another company but was told it would be 10 days so instead, we went through the sms process again and again and again. Same story. They tell you how to submit your application and they have you make more changes to your website and privacy policy, only to be denied again and again. They charge you a fee every time it happens. I can't believe they are still in business and I can't believe I'm stuck doing business with them!

Avoid Grasshopper at all costs – an absolute nightmare for any small business.
I’ve stuck with Grasshopper far too long, not because it’s good, but because the pain of leaving has been the only thing worse than their service. Their customer support is practically non-existent—you’ll spend hours on hold only to receive zero useful help. My SMS compliance was repeatedly denied with no clear explanation, and every time I asked what needed to be fixed, I got a different answer (or no answer at all).
Their website looks and functions like it was built in 2010 and never updated, and their app is a glitchy mess that constantly fails. It’s as if they abandoned the platform years ago but are still charging for it.
I’m finally porting my number to a modern provider, and I couldn’t be happier to leave this outdated, dysfunctional service behind. If you value your time, money, and sanity, stay far away from Grasshopper. I would never, under any circumstances, recommend them to anyone.

I am 100% convinced that there is no real person that works at this company and it is ran by Ai. I have called everyday this week, tried every extension for sales, tech support, and customer service and no one answers. I have been on hold for a total of 6.5 hours this week and no one answers ever! They are cheap because they don't have payroll for a human being. The sad part is my heavily marketed business phone number is from them so if I cancel all the marketing spend is wasted.

Awful customer service. Didn’t use it, tried to cancel, they charged my card for another year- over 400 and refused to give my money back! Buyer beware!

Still Can't Get Registered for SMS After 5X+ Tries
If I could give Grasshopper a zero, I would. Their setup to register for SMS texting is horrible. Instructions are non-existent and, even doing everything requested, I've been rejected five or more times. It has cost me at least $75 in registration fees and many hours of wasted time. The registration form field where you have to enter your "opt in" message only takes 200 characters, but just to have all the needed items in there--brand, frequency, how to stop, help, etc., I can't get it below 200 characters. Of course, the form doesn't say it's limited to 200 characters--I had to find that out after hours on the phone and days waiting for a reply. Technical support is completely worthless. Overall, a terrible experience, very expensive, and a complete waste of time away from running my business. If someone says Grasshopper, run away. You can't afford the frustration, expense, and waste of time.

Well, NOW you fix the form after I spent hours of time away from running my business and wasting lots of money. Too little, too late. I’ve already ported out to another carrier and I can already tell they are better.

Extremely deceitful and shady practices
The very worst experience ever. Grasshopper lies about your account number for porting. The number that is on your account is actually your account number that you would need for porting. I was told this was not my account number and I would have to speak to the porting Dept And that they were closed on weekends pretty much they kept bankers’s hours. after speaking with the porting Dept to get the account number only to receive the same number that I was told numerous times was not the account number. I also asked to make sure my account was canceled and that I would have no further charges. today I woke up with charges looking back. I was also charging November and December my number was ported in November. They never canceled. The account. Spoke to customer service customer service was extremely disrespectful. Unprofessional waited for Superviser just received a call back even more disrespectful and unprofessional. I was told I did not cancel the account and I need to give them proof of me canceling the account If your employer did not do their job of canceling my account with proof I have? I was also told I need to go ahead and cancel the account with him now or I’ll still be charged. Are you kidding me? I’ve been on hold for two hours extremely shady practices and I will be speaking to my lawyer because I know I’m not the only one that has happened, so I’m sure this has happened to numerous customers never again I advised no one absolutely no one not even my dog to do business with grasshopper

If you’re Canadian don’t sign up for…
If you’re Canadian don’t sign up for this service! No where do they list that you will be billed in US dollars. I was shocked to see my bill which was over 60$ higher than the quote after exchange. I’m a small business owner that is just starting out but they would not do anything for me but cancel the service and tell me they just would not bill again next year.

"Conversations" tab is redundant!
I love that Grasshopper allows me to have ONE business phone number for all of my locations!
I do NOT love the "Conversations" tab on the app that logs every text, voice mail, incoming or outgoing call. The information is redundant. It also logs all of these in their appropriate tab. This section used to just be for in/out texts only.
I'd love for them to go back to that format or allow users to select what is in their "Conversations" tab.

Worst experience
Worst experience, I had this for 2 years and dint help, technical is such complex, you spending hours and hours still you dont receive phone calls, every now and then there are errors.
When I complained and requested for cancellation and porting out, they just focussed on porting out and never cancelled the account and kept charging. When called to report being not helpful, I call local provider with same issue they right away fix it and refund.
Just unhappy and frustrated with this, I regret spending so much time, money on this complex platform.

What I don't like is that my phone bleeps with every message and call, even when I am off, or out of hours.
I don't like messages registering on my personal phone only, instead of showing up on the main system.
