Caravan park
The life guards was really annoying, they were rather made out pool time not enjoying but annoying. Also the picture on the website of the play area was huge but there it was very simple one. Cleaning wise it was great and lovely people
We arrived on Friday, went to on site…
We arrived on Friday, went to on site bar for food and drink at 8 PM asked for menu but told they were closing told to go to fish and chip shop on site.
Then on Saturday we called at 6PM and they had nothing on the menu we asked for,,so went elsewhere
We t back about 9,15 PM had drinks ,Then at 9.45 a meme of staff came and asked us for an order for more drinks because they were closing very soon,Then at 10.15 the staff member had got security to come and demand we leave ,what a way to treat paying customers,Now we can under why the place is empty most nights.
Just another safety point for people that have to get to the site at nighttime as it's a 200 yard walk virtually in darkness down a narrow road that all vehicles have to use and puts people's safety at risk, especially if you are women ,
Needless to say We will not be staying there ever again
The Caravans were spotless and it's a pity the owners don't think about the risk people face in getting in and out the site down that narrow entrance in darkness
What am I paying for?
Tell me exactly what I am paying for?
Been coming here for the last few years with my partner and two boys, 5 and 8. Rented our van privately and paid our entertainment passes as normal. We found out that most the entertainment staff we’ve known over the years have now left and that some are working down the road due to jobs being given to staff with minimal to no experience whatsoever, #Bring back Rosie! One member of the entertainment team has the gimmick to be barking like a dog - to which my kids copied relentlessly. My kids aren’t animals and I don’t expect them to be taught that this is normal behaviour. What disappointed me more was that a huge percentage of the children’s entertainment was to sit and watch interactive videos, but the majority of kids there already had tablets and were bored, so why aren’t the staff playing games and helping the kids burn energy to sleep for the night???? This year, hardly any kids went on stage for their medals and badges, and if they did it seemed to be the same ones chosen. One night consisted of a lady singing a song about feelings and kids were not interested until the bubbles came out. Bubble mix saturated the floor with kids falling over was an accident waiting to happen, and no members of staff came to clean it up until prompted by one of the parents. Party dances were getting later and later as the nights went on, this needs to happen before or after bingo to guarantee kids aren’t overtired. Please bring in more acts. For families staying at the site across two weeks, they do not want to see a repeat of entertainment. Personally, for the money we are paying for entertainment, I expected more, not just staff singing and dancing.
The entertainment team do run activities for kids throughout the day, however these come at additional fees. For the money I’m paying for passes, I’d hope some activities would be included in this.
Access to the swimming pool is included, though I would not recommend this. The staff are rude and continue to enforce covid rules. You’re forced to walk back to your van dripping wet as you aren’t allowed to get changed. A 45 minute session is just not long enough, and during this time, staff did not seem to be monitoring the pool. I understand it’s a parents responsibility to watch their kids, but for the 3 staff members sitting at the reception desk, had an incident occurred, I doubt it’d be noticed.
It’s sad that this experience has been disappointing, but we will be booking with another site next year.
Terrible place to stay would never…
Terrible place to stay would never recommend. The park seems to think it’s ok for owners to rent out caravans that should be condemned and not fit for people to stay In . Then to even charge an extra £105 once we arrived for check in costs
These private caravan should have to be at a standard to even be onsite but it appears not at this place . Can’t ever speak to a manager as they seem to hide and after seeing the reviews I can see why .
My holiday for my boys birthday was cut short after 3 nights of 7 because of this shambles and I had to find somewhere else to stay at an extra cost or would of had to go home
There needs to be more care taken at what this park is allowing to be rented out because I won’t be recommending anyone to stay at this place .
We had a part refund from air bnb but this park would only give a 15% discount on another holiday that we book not sure they understand I would never stay there again after my experience
Good location and ok for the money
Entrance into the park is down a narrow driveway and first impressions were not favourable.
The staff were helpful on checking in and we found the caravan in a very packed park.
We were glad we booked out of holidays and mid-week and we had a quiet stay.
The caravan was clean and spacious but very minimal. No frying pan, one toilet roll between two toilets and zero cleaning pack, not even a jeye cloth or sachet of washing up liquid. As we checked in out of hours this was a bit inconvenient.
The bar area was pleasant and the park itself was in a good location for sightseeing on a budget.
You get what you pay for.
Had a really good time
Had a really good time. Definitely exceeded our expectations. Good food and entertainment throughout the stay. Close to water park. Really like how they had kids play park. Suitable for couples and families with kids. Only thing was bringing your own bedding but they did tell us on the phone before coming which is good.
Massive thanks to Jeevan, Becky and Muvaldo and Britney. Made our stay more special and memorable. Well done to Jeevan picking on the quiet kids to stage. Usually most people choose the loudest kids.
Would never go again caravan stank of…
Would never go again caravan stank of urine no lights working and stains all over complained and was told maintenance would be there within an hour and cleaners too 12 hours later arrived but had been told we could leave and get a refund would be 7 days but now saying everything was ok with the van in this economic climate we can’t afford another holiday so thank you for the worst holiday experience you must be proud left after 12 hrs as was promised a refund by Adele but they have now changed ther mind will thanks haven and adele
ok if you want to stay awake
we have just got back from the caravan park there put us right opposite the security office and the sandpiper bar was kept awake by the security guards coming and going the caravan was nice beside the wobbly table and the radiator that was leaking reported this to the office and was told that there would get someone to look at it which never happened could not sleep the bed was uncomfortable and missing slats and would not stay here again staff was nice and there was a smell mop in the cupboard bad smell from cupboard people parking in front of caravan could not park shower was great
If you want a stressless holiday stay elsewhere
This reveiw spans two stays we had at Golden Sands. The first time we stayed Mid August, we hired a 'comfort' caravan. We were placed in a caravan that was badly worn and damaged (see pictures). We had a 3 day/2 night stay. We tried to book our slot at the onsite swimming pool the first day we arrived, we were told there was no availability until the morning we were due to check out, complained to reception who managed ot get us booked in for the next morning. Arrived at the onsite restaraunt on the first night, placed our food order, waited 30 minutes to then be toled they were closing the kitchecn as a staff memebr had tested positive on site for Covid. Refunded our money and were told we would have to go to the onsite chippy and bring it back into the restaraunt. Used the swimming pool the following day which is not suitable for kids. You get reprimanded for jumping in, splashing, sitting on the wall, just generally anything other than swimming in a straight line like you're training for the Olympics. The pool is really small, its not how it looks on their fancy website. Went to the restaraunt on the second night to be told they werent taking food orders as the kitchen were falling behind, so on-site chippy it was again. Whilst in the onsite entertainment club on the second evening, I left our bingo dabbers, drinks and my sons medication on the whilst I went to the bar to get myself na dthe kids another drink (I was on my own with my two lads), whilst I was gone someone kindly cleared our table, cleared away our drinks and threw away my sons medication and our bingo dabbers, had to speak to security to get the medication back. We ended up with a partial refund of our holiday and an apology for the hassle. Made the mistake of giving them a second try as we'd got a discount of 15% off if we booked again this year, booked another 3 day/2 night stay at begining of September. This time we've been put in a decent caravan but the cleaners have unfortunatley forgotten to put toilet roll in the bathroom before we checked in. I reported it on their app, had no response, went to reception a couple of hours later, they said they'd get it sorted, went out for the afternoon and came back, still not been sorted, been back to reception and was basically told everyone was too busy, they'll get round to it. Its a toliet roll, I'm not asking for someone to build me a balcony extension. I've ended up just driving to the shop off-site and buying some myself. Also no availability in the on-site pool, again, we've managed to get booked in for the morning we leave, but I've had to request a late check out to allow us more time they've happily obliged, and charged me £20 for the priviliedge. I know the prices seem lower to other sites in the area, but trust me, there is a reason. Just pay the bit extra and stay somewhere else.
We had a,week in golden sands in a…
We had a,week in golden sands in a lovely privare van we have been going to this holiday park for years the noise and fighting from travellers was disgusting the soft play was out of use in thr arcade and was full of very rude children the noise from the outdoor swings carried on until after 2 am a few nights they have a outdoor film night for the children it starts at 830 it was still playing after 1 at night kids screaming and shouting cars flying around at such speed someone is going to get hurt the swimming pool is run by an older lady who is very rude and shouts at the children for smashing and just basicly having fun no lockers you have to put bags and belongings on a bench we noticed the police a few times at the office too it has been took over by away resorts the place is really run down and noticed a lot of the private owned vans were empty and selling up we will never return to golden sands it used to be such a nice place there is a tractor going around emptying the bins driving Much to fast the place needs to be shut down before something bad happens my advice stay well away
Complaint unanswered. Management invisible.
The Caravan we rented was brilliant excellent position overlooking the sea and well equipped. The site another matter. We purchased passes, 3 adult 2 children to use the pool. Rang Sunday told no places ring at 10am Monday. Did this to be told booked up as opened at 9am. Complained at the office and informed the Manager would ring us in 24 hours. Still not be in touch a week later. Tuesday tried 80 calls to get through negative 113 Wednesday 2 Thursday and gave up went to pool in RHYL. Plus the kids soft play area is out of action and not known when it will be repaired. No customer service focus whatsoever would love to speak to the Manager about our complaint but they must have binned it. Moral is don't bother purchasing passes if you want a swim or your children want to play in the soft play area.
Disappointing
Caravan site was disappointing, pool was tiny , had to put our belongings on a bench, no lockers etc, could only swim for 45 mins, staff didn't seem polite, entertainment ended at 10.30-10.45, park was designed for very young children, think I'll be sticking to haven in the future
To expensive to return been coming for 6 yrs won’t be returning …
Brilliant holiday caravan beautiful nice and cosy for feb halfterm but won’t be returning for the price hike can’t afford feb halfterm gone from £235 for a weeks holiday to over £700 to much for a single mum with a special needs child
Swimming pool staff are the rudest…
Swimming pool staff are the rudest people I've ever met on a holiday site. Our young children told off for screaming while enjoying themselves in the pool because a member of staff was on the phone? Why use the pool area as an office? Had to phone in the morning to book swimming for the afternoon. Called over 100 times no answer. Went round to book it and got shouted at by the pool manager. She was also shouting at a man before I arrived too. He told me she'd spoken to him terribly as well as he walked past. I asked her why she was speaking to me like that and the man before me? She said 'who, the coloured man!?' wow!! I said no? Seems like she's been having a go at everyone who comes near her precious pool. Disgusting behaviour from that rude woman. Can't believe she has a job here at a holiday site of all places. Can't believe she works in hospitality. One bonus is she looks close to retirement.
First time at Golden sands. We usually go to haven regularly and have always had a great experience with younger more polite staff. Golden sands is basically a poor man's haven.
Our caravan has to be at least 30 years old. The fabric on the seats is all ripped and the carpets are visibly dirty.
On entry to the site, there are lots of in used caravans dumped, not a great first impression. Will never come back here again, woukd rather pay more and visit a haven site or centre parcs.
Last nights entertainment wasn't bad however. Average bar prices too

arrived on 14 aug 2021
phoned reception a few days before I arrived and was told check in was between 2 and 5 pm when I arrived was told between 4 and 5 pm got keys between 5.30 and 5.45 people where still waiting for keys after 7.
while there needed internet access no internet in FSB04 using paid wifi reported to reception and was told someone would be round to check left on 28 aug still no body came and wifi in complex not working
Have been cming here for a number off years and have never had such a bad experiance.
The rest of holiday was good and the staff in complex where polite and friendly
If this had been my first time here I would not be back
Staying in a lovely privately owned…
Staying in a lovely privately owned caravan on golden sands park in town rhyl. It is a corner plot advertised as not overlooked with views, which it is but and a big but the park itself continually parks used mobile homes on the road in front of the caravan. You have to circumnavigate the site to park your car next to your van and to get out of site. The veiw is then an unused empty van. Site itself is unhelpful they are even as far as to say disinterested.

We stayed here on the 26 June in a gold standard caravan on sea breeze site costing £755 for 3 bed room caravan. We booked threw hoseasons being a reputable company as was totally disgusted with the caravan it had food stains all over the seating area the bedding was supplied with the caravan in the children's bedroom there were 2 dead flys were it was tooked in it was damp with mold marks over it. Food marks on the double bedding seats were ripped and the carpets were very dirty. I've complained to hoseasons but had no reply will never book threw hoseasons again very disappointed also as a family of 5 we had to save up for our holiday and really looking forward to the break it was that bad we even left on the Thursday morning.

Stayed here so many times as a kid as my Auntie and Uncle used to own a caravan on Golden sands I've also stayed here 5 time's with my wife we had our first holiday together here and spend our honeymoon here and have also spent Christmas here twice we absolutely love it the location of the site is perfect as it is just a minute's walk from the beach there is also a ASDA close to the site which is really handy it's about 20 minutes walk from Rhyl town center every time we've stayed here we've always had a brilliant time and the caravans are also in very good condition the caravan owners always take a lot of pride in their caravans and on a nice summer day the beach is fantastic and very scenic
Amazing holiday
We stayed from the 14th August for 7 x nights and had an amazing holiday.
The whole site was spotless, the caravan was spotless and cosy, the beach and coastal path are amazing, the staff are great especially Tony the Goldstar and the facilities on site were brilliant.
We will definitely be back.
Thanks to all the Golden Sands Team for making our holiday so enjoyable
