I went to the desk at Heathrow having completed my 12 hour shift and asked for £200 worth of Canadian dollars. When I got home I discovered the woman on the desk had given me Euros. I immediately called their head office customer service. They gave me an email address which I immediately contacted and then heard nothing from for over a week.
I went back to the desk as soon as I was back on shift, five days later. I was informed that although it was an error essentially it would cost me £50 to change my Euros to Canadian dollars.
Needless to say I kept my Euros and got my dollars elsewhere.

Awful exchange rate, FIND AN ALTERNATIVE AND CLING TO IT FOR DEAR LIFE. They have no signs indicating their rates nor MASSIVE fees and take almost a quarter of what you were expecting to get. Take your time with them, hear the amounts you'll be getting, question the math and calculate the conversion yourself, and cancel or walk away if you aren't getting nearly enough from this stand that sits idly as the first tourist trap in London coming out of Heathrow Terminal 5. I wish I could get a refund, huge payment scam.

I was rushing and to get some currency before jumping on the flight and didn’t pay attention properly to the exchange rate until the transaction was complete as had my hands full with kids. They clearly don’t show the rates to take advantage of people like me.

Ultimately my fault, but not a great feeling to start the holiday.

Planning not to spend any cash and then see if they honour the no charge currency swap when I get back. Probably will give me an awful exchange rate back.

Changed some sterling to euros in Heathrow Terminal 3.

I didn't listen carefully enough to what was being offered. They counted out the euros and I felt I was €50 short. But they showed me the paperwork to show an truly awful exchange rate. So bad it's hard to believe this is even legal.

I refused to sign the paperwork but they refused to reverse the transaction and I had to pay and walk away feeling like I had just been stolen from.

I will follow up with the FCA after my holiday.

DO NOT GIVE THEM THE CHANCE TO TAKE YOUR HARD EARNED MONEY.

Never again, I feel so stupid, I now know why people that get scammed feel ashamed.

I had a very disappointing experience at this currency exchange. Westfield branch.

I came in to exchange a mix of US dollars, Canadian dollars, and British pounds into euros for my holiday. As the employee was calling out the exchange amounts for each currency, I noticed that the exchange rate being applied to my British pounds was much lower than I expected.

I immediately asked him to confirm the rate and told him I wasn't happy with it. I asked for my pounds back instead of completing that part of the exchange. I was then told that the transaction had already gone through and that it couldn't be reversed.

I left feeling very disappointed. I don't feel the exchange rates were made clear before the transaction was processed, and I wasn't given a genuine opportunity to decline the exchange once I realized how poor the rate was. The whole experience left me feeling misled and, personally, like I had been scammed.

I would encourage anyone using this exchange to ask for the exact rate and final amount for every currency before handing over their money or allowing the transaction to be completed.

This company is stealing. I used them at Malaga Airport , (as there was no alternative hence their ability to scam you in plain sight), to refund me IVA tax on purchases I had made whilst on holiday in Spain.

Basically they took 37% of my tax refund (€204) when they shouldn’t have taken a penny or at most a small handling charge.

Despite having written to their customer services here in England and Spain - see text below- neither have even bothered to reply. You would think that serious allegations would bother them but they don’t. Do not use this company.

“I am writing to complain of actions at your Malaga Airport kiosk that in my opinion appear criminal. Reviewing other complaints on Trustpilot leads me to believe that this may be a widespread practice.

I asked for euros for my tax refund and this was refused. Your employee claimed that you only dealt in “international currencies- dollars and sterling”. This is demonstrably a lie designed to force customers into exchanging currencies at an uncommercial rate.

I had paid the IVA in Euros and was entitled to receive a tax refund in euros.

Your employee took €79 Euros from me claiming this would improve the rate of exchange but didn’t record the payment or give me an equivalent sum in sterling. In other words it appears the money has been misappropriated.

The Euro/Sterling exchange rate you applied was 0.66 yet the exchange rate that day was 0.86.

€474.50 plus the unrecorded €79 cash I handed over totals €553.50. Applying the exchange rate for that day of 0.86 would have amounted to £476 yet what I was actually given was £300. A shortfall of £176 if I had been changing euros but as I said I did not wish to do so.

I was entitled to €553.50. Giving credit in Euros of €349 at the exchange rate of 0.86 for the £300 you did pay leaves a balance due to me of €204 which I demand you repay forthwith.”

This was my only choice to get local currency at Fez airport. I had seen negative reviews so did my best to double check everything to avoid being scammed. In the end it didn’t matter because they charged my card a different amount and in the wrong currency as if to make a point.

If they can’t trick you into giving them more money they’ll literally just steal it instead.

Incompetent, unprofessional customer service. Went to get a refund on remaining money but this was such a huge issue . I had to inconvenience myself and implicate a financial cost on me due to incompetent staff . Avoid using . Pathetic customer services who don’t respond inefficient and useless!!!!!

Det slutade med att jag fick betala 10 ggr så mycket som om jag tagit ut pengar i en automat. Detta var I Marocko på flygplatsen och man kommer riket nytt land, ganska stressad o då passar de på, Det känns nästan som om jag blev utsatt för ett bedrägeri. Väldigt bra å påstridig försäljare får jag ju säga. Och då tillhör jag ändå en ganska skeptisk publik normalt.

Used their currency exchange in T5 at Heathrow. The exchange rate for US$ was a complete rip off. $1.08 per £1. Needed some dollars in a hurry as my flight was due to board so didn't have time to shop around. Raised a query about the exchange rate after I landed but no response from their Customer Service team. Felt like I had been mugged. You have been warned

In Malaga, Spain airport, I went through the process of getting a VAT tax refund. You are required to go to a booth prior to Security and obtain an approval on your receipt. I did.
Apparently, the Spanish authorities have subcontracted the refund process to Global Exchange that has a booth past security.
When I presented my approved receipts for VAT refund, the teller tried to convince me to take my 15 euros in US$, my home country's currency. She then asked me if I have 10 euros. I did and I gave it to her. She then gave me $20 and said "thank you".
I was not fooled. I basically got less than 7 euros worth on a 15 euros refund. I persisted and asked her to correct what she did. She refused and insisted that it was correct. When I asked her her name, she refused and when I took my phone to take a photo of her, she threatened to call the police. I said "go ahead"...at that moment, she agreed to give me the full refund and I walked away.

Would give a zero if I could. The worst exchange rate, the guy told me I was getting a 30% discount but I ended losing £30 off the basic exchange rate. Fuming!

Travelled to 70 countries and this is the worst exchange rate I have ever come across. It should be criminal. Exchange rate USD to AUD was 1 to 1.63 and the rate at Global Exchange at SYD Airport was 1 to 1.35!

Twice at the airport counter in Istanbul I have been cheated by the GLOBAL EXCHANGE counter agents by being told that one or two of my VAT refunds doesn't show up in their system and asked me to leave my credit card info so they would credit it accordingly.
I never got the credits and they kept all the paperwork and pocketed the refunds

Don't use their ATM machine, ridiculous exchange rate and didn't tell you any charges they are applying. They exchanged less euros for the pounds you are paying, then what is the point of exchange at all? Ridiculous rogue company, because I used debit card to withdraw so can't even apply a credit card chargeback.

An absolute rip off! Stay away. It should be illegal what Global Exchange are offering consumers! On arrival at Bristol airport I inquired about exchanging 40 euros and was offered £21.12. That is an exchange rate of 1.89 euros for every £1.00. The "official" exchange rate is 1.18. While I understand that they are a business and have costs, this is simply not an acceptable rate to charge. Appalling!!

I needed to get 500 US dollars for a trip and GE wanted £598. This means their rate values the £ at less than a dollar. The High Street rate was £398 so there is a £200 difference that the staff member could only explain on the basis of "its what the computer says". I don't understand how the difference can be so big. It almost feels dishonest. It is certainly profiteering. Avoid Global Exchange airport bureaux.

Do not use their ATMs for anything other than local currency. My wife was charged an outrageous rate (£50 more than it should have been) for 200 Euro at their ATM in Bristol. Communicating with them is awful. You can only go through their web forms - they give you their email address but nothing gets through. Astonished at the subsequent lack of interest in our case
