Completely weird experience
Completely weird experience. I should’ve known from the start. As soon as I made the first call to enquire, I was placed on hold and accidentally patched through to a random car finance company on the other line. I was not financing the car. We both thought we were talking to the dealer. When I finally got through I was told to “spit it out” even though I’d just been confused out my mind.
Showed up to absolute chaos. The staff were shouting down the phone at customers and making faces in front of me (also a customer). Salesman wouldn’t answer any questions on my test drive and gave me wrong information about the car’s engine. He didn’t actually seem to know anything about it. I thought he maybe wasn’t very chatty, but then I asked him about his work and he gave me the all the gossip about who was working and who was off, complete with the rundown of the cast of characters.
Even though it had weird vibes, the car did seem fine, so I thought I would pay the deposit over the phone to protect my consumer rights and pay a third party to carry out an inspection. When I called to ask for permission, in fairness I was told it was fine, but I was also told “you know something will come up on an 11 year old car”
I thought that was a really weird thing to say, not because something would come up (obviously it will on an old car) but because they didn’t seem to know what would come up. Surely if they’re selling cars, they need to be aware of the faults already?
Bear in mind by this time I’d read the reviews. Glenfield can say what they like- the fact is reputable dealerships in the area do not have so many terrible reviews about dangerous and faulty cars. Even if your car turns out to be okay, do you really want to support a business that does this kind of thing?
I called back to back out- it was just one too many unsettling things in the bizarre experience of trying to buy this car. I was immediately put on the phone to one employee. I believe his job is to talk over people and defend himself while rejecting any form of criticism. He might be the most intelligent employee of Glenfield cars, but unfortunately this doesn’t mean a huge amount. Also, it has apparently gone to his head somehow. He knows a little bit about consumer law, but seems to think that customers being protected by law somehow makes him good at his job. This company genuinely seem to believe that the bare legal minimum is proof of their excellence. He was prattling on about this, how the AA inspection is “brutal” and about MOTs.
I asked over and over again for my deposit back and he insisted on telling me stories and talking over me. It was so unnerving and strange- possibly the least professional encounter I’ve ever had in retail. I eventually told him I didn’t want to hear it- I was becoming frustrated and worried because they had £500 of my money and this clown was yapping away when I’d already told him no.
He finally agreed to stop talking and told me email my bank details. I am self employed and have never asked anyone to email their bank details to me for a refund. It is not secure. I also don’t want these people to have my bank details. I lost my patience and implied that he was a cowboy and he told me I was making HIM very uncomfortable. After he had just sat yapping over me as I asked him over and over again to stop talking and give me my £500 back.
He angrily told me he couldn’t refund it to my card because “15 years ago someone stole 20 grand from the business through the card machine”. This is the weirdest thing I’ve ever heard and also obviously a complete load.
I figured if I wanted my money back I’d just have to email my bank details and I apologised because I had got a bit annnoyed with him and I don’t like to act like that. He said I was “being alright now”. This made me curious because he obviously thought I was the source of the problem. I asked if he could understand why I was frustrated and he just started deflecting and trying to defend himself again. Zero accountability, zero self-reflection. This is really poor service.
He laughed at me when I asked him to delete the email twice. If you don’t understand why someone might not want to email their bank details, you definitely don’t know enough about internet security to be asking people to do it.
Other dealerships in the area have card machines that issue refunds. They take credit cards. Other dealerships in the area are not on finance blacklists. These are the kinds of issues that businesses who have extensive histories of chargebacks face. Why would a used car dealership have loads of issues with chargebacks? Maybe because- at best- they have no idea what they’re selling.
Glenfield did give me my money back, but is the fact that they didn’t commit a crime really evidence of good service? The man I spoke to genuinely seemed to think so. Completely, utterly weird

Incompetent to the highest level.
Just read the other reviews, says it all.
HAPPY HAPPY CUSTOMER
After having had a bad experience with a previous company I saw a car i liked at Glenfield Car Sales. It was about an hour away from me but I went to see it. The team could not have been better. They handed me the keys and let me spend time on having a good look over the car with a friend. No pushy selling which I liked. I bought it and took it for a second inspection and it was perfect, which was great to hear for a 2017 model. The after sales has been amazing with a big thumbs up to Brian and Stuart. Will definitely return when im ready for another car. Thanks again guys 😁😁😁

Bought a car from here in January this year, car runs great, but found huge cracks on panoramic roof, spoke with Brian at Glenfield Cars couldn't do enough to help, he paid for new roof and kept in touch u till I could arrange to put car in to get done, just got it replaced, picked the car up this morning and couldn't be happier with my whole experience, I would definitely go back here as the whole experience from buying the car until now has been 2nd to none, thanks alot guys.

I found this dealership through auto…
I found this dealership through auto trader - I’d seen a Vauxhall crossland that looked to be a bargain. I applied for finance via AA evolution finance and they accepted my application. The only thing left to do was test drive it and check the car out. I went to the dealership and while test driving noticed the clutch was extremely high and the car was barely moving while the engine was revving like mad. I pointed this out, only to be told that all Vauxhalls are like that…load of nonsense, the clutch was clearly on its last legs. Anyway, I got home and signed the paperwork on the understanding the wet belt and clutch would be fixed. I had been told that the car was going through its MOT before I did the test drive, so I was confused as to why he told me it still needed to go in for its MOT when I was there doing the test drive. I decided to look up the MOT history and discovered it failed its MOT - an issue with the flexi on the exhaust. This is something he failed to mention when I was there for the test drive. I called after finding this out and stressed that I was worried after reading the reviews. I was told the clutch was fine but they’d replace it anyway. He barely acknowledged my concerns and went on about selling hundreds of cars a week. I wasn’t reassured but was hoping for the best. Fast forward to yesterday and I get a call saying they haven’t been paid by the finance company. I called and they told me the dealership is blacklisted and they won’t do business with them. After reading the reviews, I can see why that’s the case and I consider myself lucky that AA evolution are protecting me from making a terrible mistake. I’ve decided to go for a reputable dealership that’s local to me.
Do not buy a car from these people.
So I bought a car from this company at the end of February. It was MOT’d at the time and passed, with no advisories I was told.
Move forward 6 weeks and the “flexi” on the exhaust went. £441 to get a new exhaust.
Move forward three days. The timing belt goes and we now need a new engine. Yes, it was a second hard car but to last 6 weeks only??
I won’t ever go near this company ever again and would not recommend them to anyone.
Avoid!!!! Avoid!!!!
My 17 year old son bought a car from here 4/5 weeks ago and has had nothing but trouble .when we viewed the car and paid deposit we were told car would be ready in a week. Week later they called to say it would be delayed a day which was fine at the time.Went picked it up drove car home during which I smell fumes only to discover they had left the oil cap off engine which had spilled out all over engine bay luckily we got home…Next day when my son went out in car there was knocking coming from front of car.. called them and was returned and they replaced bottom arm and drop link which seemingly the other side had already been done during the prep for collection.Took car away for 2nd time to discover another noise and a rasp from exhaust contacted them and was told it needed a new flexi which I had to organise at they’re cost baring in mind this was supposed to have a full years MOT before collection.. Initially when we picked the car up we were told they were taxing it for 6 months I’m fighting with them 4 weeks later as they failed to tax it and it’s still unresolved after me speaking to someone 2 days ago and they said they would sort it. I need to add there was no V5 or new keepers slip present at time of sale which has prevented me from taxing the car… Raging is an understatement they are a bunch of cowboys who don’t take responsibility for they’re rubbish service and just tell you anything to get you off the phone…1st and last time I will even consider using them and would advise anyone looking at they’re cars to give it a miss it’s not worth the hassle!!! My son paid an extra £300 for 12 month’s warranty we’ll await and see how that pans out 😡😡

NISSAN QUASHQAI 1.2 PETROL WHITE 2014
Bought a car in august 25 a nissan quashqai 1.2 dig petrol white 2014. Got onto motorway fault flashes all way home. Parking aid didn't work so called glenfield motors. Thy had no courtesy car so had to wait weeks. The Car webt back 5 times for repair. Had to go back 5 times and when I picked the car up I was 20 mile into my journey and the car cut out on the motorway. I could've been killed... no joke. Dont go anywhere near this dealership. The guys are selling cars that aren't fit for puroose... it took me just under 6 months for my finance company to reject this car. Diagnostic test said safety issue in all the electrics. They took the car back on the 22nd January 2026... the next day the car was back up for sale for 6k. This car has now been sold onto someone else with problems. I hope whoever you are you read this because there is no way the dealership fixed this car.
Great service and honest staff
Great service and honest staff. The work was done quickly, and my car runs perfectly. Highly recommend the boys at Glenfields.

Bought vw Tiguan June 2025. Had to wait for collection as fault with clutch. Got car home . Was told a service was carried out. Filter not been changed. Oil very dirty. Broken road spring which should of shown up with New MOT. Timing belt changed at my expense as it's marked it service book it was done before collection and wasn't. Clutch fault never been right. Now back in a independent garage for clutch, flywheel and slave cylinder at my expense. Car has not even done 1000 miles since bought
After my car died
After my car died, saw one I wanted at Glenfield, guys called me and said they’d reserve it for me and I could see it whenever, went down to see and the in car computer was broken, they replaced it no problem for free with a brand new and latest of tech? The tyre sensor was fixed? Full MOT and good valet done for me collecting the following week. Drove up the road happy as and even the purple alloys are growing on me! Great service from start to finish and said if any issues to get straight back to them. Car in great condition and will definitely use again.

If I could put 0 stars, I would. Bought a car 3 weeks ago. Nothing but bother, the car has had numerous faults. The staff are unreliable, unhelpful, and have a terrible attitude.

Please avoid
Bought a vehicle back in April and still have the same issues, been back to them for "repair" but issue still exists. Was assured the vehicle would be valeted as a few scratches on paintwork but body work staff apparently taken ill and as soon as he returned I would be contacted to bring vehicle in. After numerous phone calls and false promises the vehicle remains the same. Over £6000 spent on vehicle. On collection of vehicle was assured road tax had been taken care of as v5 was missing. Upon checking, no tax on vehicle. Liars and frauds. Please avoid
