We recently moved house and the seller of the property we were buying used Demi Laws at Emmersons.
It took 8 weeks for the draft contract to be sent to our solicitors and when it finally arrived, the price was £5k above what had been agreed. It also said that the person we were buying from had died and we later found out he was very much alive and in a nursing home!
The house we were buying was a leasehold property and this is where her inexperience of conveyancing really came through.
Our solicitor emailed her a number of times to inform her of the information they needed and every step she needed to take but she wouldn't respond. She then got the 'Head of Conveyancing' involved and he was advising their client something which was not true and almost lost their sale as we were ready to walk away at this point. With help from our estate agent, the seller decided to do the right thing and go against Emmersons and went with what our solicitor was advising and we finally exchanged. The whole process took four months and the communication from Emmersons was abysmal. We had to move in with a family member for 3 weeks as the sale of our house was on the verge of collapsing (Demi Laws was aware of this!)
Our Solicitor had to constantly chase and never actually spoke to her on the phone until the day of the exchange. Everything was done via email which really slowed down the process. It caused unnecessary stress and took a shine off us moving into our family home. Avoid!

They respond to the review 10 months later 🤣 how ironic…about the same time it takes to get responses.
I wasn’t your client but I was the buyer of theirs. You are horrendous and should be struck off.

I’ve never felt the need to review a company as much as I do right now regarding the experience I’ve had using Emmersons Solicitors and Jasmine Mann especially , Dreadful experience causing undue stress to myself when buying a new home and selling my existing home , They do not reply to phone calls , Emails is a 5 day turnaround , lies after lies , Saying didn’t receive emails when the others I copied in received the same email, Receptionist was rude also , I requested to speak with an owner to make a complaint without success , Unexpected charge of extra £600 or wouldn’t carry on with my sale transaction when she knew she had me over a barrel , over charging for bacs transfers , Deciding to withdraw from representing my purchase as she was only a trainee lawyer and not qualified to deal with a Trust purchase which was explained at the very beginning , I urge anyone thinking of using this unprofessional company to think twice , I will be contacting the Law Society due to my extremely stressful experience and won’t let this lie , My Estate Agents, My family lawyer , My new build purchase contact all ran into problems trying to communicate with this company , At all costs do not employ this company as you will regret

Emmerson solicitors are awful and very unprofessional and have zero customer service skills. Initial call to them advised moving solicitors and could they take the case based on short time frame. They advised they would do all they could and file would be worked and set up ready for searches to come back as this would take the longest. This never happened .About 95% of calls were never returned and emails were just as bad. Constant daily emails and calls were made and this was due to no communication and wanting to know if they had received or reviewed information we sent, a courteous email or update would have stopped us having to call. I even escalated to the managing director(Jaqueline Emmerson) who was also very rude to me on phone and said take business else where. Lee and Demi are equally horrendous and lack basic communication skills. The service promised was never delivered . Stay well clear of this company if you are buying or selling a property. it was out of desperation we used them and huge mistake. The stress and upset they caused was awful. No idea how they are still trading .

I had used the Newcastle office for a property purchase in the past and so went back to them when it was time to move house. The sale went through fine but when it came to the purchase the paralegal dealing with our file decided to drop contact with our estate agent. She wouldn't commit to any form of prospective completion date either making things extremely stressful for us as the agent kept calling me to get updates ect. I had stayed out of all the emails going back a forth as I wanted things to get back on track however Jill made things difficult when there wasn't any need for it. My wife decided that she didn't want to continue using their services so we parted ways. The paralegal gave us abortion fees which were not justified at all and then today she threatened us with legal action (exact words were 'proceed with enforcement action') even though we have paid the invoice! I hope someone senior in your firm reads this Jill Waddle. Have a nice day

Recently used Emmersons for making a will and had no problems.Really easy ,quick and professional.Would definitely recommend.

As you will see from the previous feedback, my father and I appointed legal representation for an independent legal advice form to be completed as we were jointly purchasing a property.

Afer having already been paid on the 28th of January, on the 4th of February I requested via the main office for someone to call either one of us for an estimation of timescale to complete the documentation. I was assured there would be a call that day.

Today I called again, requesting once again for an estimated date of completion, prior to my father attempting the same. I was informed once again that the people we were after were busy on other calls and that they would call myself or my father back later today.

At no point was it mentioned that due to covid calls or emails would take longer than usual to be responded to or that they were not in the office.

Due to the poor customer service, my father left a review on trust pilot in order to get their attention to the service provided.

Rather than speaking to myself or my father to deal with the complaint, in which the review would have been removed, Emmersons directors decided not to represent us and told us to go elsewhere.

Very unprofessional and have greatly impacted negatively on my tight deadline, causing unneeded additional stress.

Appointed to act on my behalf through what I now find as a very poor recommendation.

Very quick at returning calls and emails initially when I made enquiries to fees etc.

Now I need to get info to where the process is at not a single return call nor email answered.

The receptionist is hopeless, can't find me on the system asking if I'm sure I am with them? YES I know who I pay money too, d'oh.

Everytime I get told either Lee or Demi is on other line, (not to me thats for sure) ironically this morning when I was told Lee was on the other line, the story changed this afternoon that he wasn't in the office this morning when I challenged why aren't any calls being returned, (dare i say I have been lied too, fair feels like it), now I am really suspicious if he is in with "the boss" this afternoon, seems more scape goat excuses, very unprofessional in all aspects.

Pathetic customer service, I would recommend to avoid wish I took my custom elsewhere.

My wish has came true, I can take my custom elsewhere, an email response within a few hours and not 5 days in middle of a pandemic that I am sure we all know the workings off, shame you decided to throw this out rather than provide a better customer focused approach and to potentially resolve, further reflection on standards. Anyone that reads this review content make your own mind up,

Very helpful from start to finish - we knew buying our first home would be difficult but Lee at Emmersons Solicitors made the whole process smooth, easy and stress free. We are satisfied customers and would recommend to anybody!

I contacted the office to get a price for transferring ownership of a property. I held on the line to get through to reception where a very abrupt lady answered, she was not helpful at all and did not know what she was talking about. All I wanted was a quotation and some advice. This is probably a decent solicitors but the reception really should have some training on how to deal with potential customers. Her attitude was very unprofessional. She should have took my details and getting someone who is qualified to do so to give me advice not to try and advise me herself when she is obviously not qualified.

We recently worked again with Lee Gilder at Emmersons to complete on a probate property purchase. As always Lee was able to overcome all the difficulties we encountered along the way for both seller and us as buyers. We highly recommend Lee in any conveyancing matter as he is also strongly supported by a great team at Emmersons.

Amazing is an understatement! We found ourself at the bottom of a chain and were last to even offer to buy, however the team at Gosforth have pulled a rabbit out of the hat and beat all the other solicitors, agents and advisors to get our legal side completed in just a few weeks after they all claimed it was impossible! So now we’re sat waiting for them despite them having several weeks of head start!
